The government says the province's 96 public libraries will be able to run with nine librarians, down from 14. Thoughts?

Astonishing, especially since the government always touts literacy as a priority

Let's see what happens; perhaps the libraries will be just fine in the long run

I'm willing to bet that cabinet did not know the difference between a librarian and any other library worker

I would have closed some of the smaller libraries, but that would have been more unpopular politically
