I do not think Mattel should comply because blacks should not patronize a business such as theirs. Stop asking others to produce for US! We should produce what we want ourselves and grow our economic base. Other races do not come to the black community to request dolls that look like them or any other cultural product they wish to have. I don't mind purchasing from other races, but it is way past time that we end our dependency on others.

I agree with the mother about the need, but no business should engage in anything that is not profitable to the business. Also, Mattel does make black dolls, and has for a long time, so it is not like they are ignoring the issue of children seeing images that look like them.

I agree with Karen on the need however I don't think Mattel has any obligation. The concept is going to be a success whoever decides to pick up the idea and develop it.
