Recently in a high school game in Ohio, Licking Heights routed Harvest Prep, 65-0 in a contest stopped after 3 innings. What should be done in games like this?
Coaches and umpires should agree to stop the game once it is clear it will be a blowout.
The teams should stop the official game after a certain score is reached. Then both teams should just play for fun, limiting each side to only 6 batters at a time.
If one school only has freshmen and sophomores who play varsity, as was the case in Ohio, the athletic association in that state should limit this team to only JV level games.
The more experienced team should play its lesser players or bring up JV players for that game.
