During my school's last inspection, one of the first things I was asked was how I knew whether teachers were performing well

All great topics. My school's 'identity', the thing that currently 'marks us out' is our approach to pastoral care and wellbeing support. This alongside strong systems for behaviour has allowed us to transform our experience for children. Looking forward to tonight... Regardless of what is chosen.

Pastoral care / Well being is learning..as integral a driver to any definition of success, both in and beyond school..it is also not a separate entity from learning, sitting at the domain of pastoral staff..it is a staged 1 intervention for ALL teachers..not a bolt on of just solution focused approaches, group CBT like FRIENDS or Restorative Approaches and other supports, as important as they are...flip the narrative- do we as teachers learn and teach effectively when issues compromise our well being- are kids any different?

Pastoral care & well-being are essential to academic achievement/productivity-for both children & educators. A real passion of mine!

Without tackling any pastoral issues the students may have , they will not be able to access the academic subjects as their minds will be elsewhere
