Mariah Carey of course,I don't even know this Selena Gomez.Mariah Carey is a legend,and the music of legends are timeless,way more important than unknown superstar's stuff.this is like wondering among a Michael Jackson album and still an unkown/local star's album which one I would choose.I'd go obviosly to the legend's work.

definitely Mariah Carey. Selena is young and i wish her all the best in her career, but few artists can reach the quality of a Mariah Carey album and Selena is not one of them. it doesnt matter whose album sells more in the end or who wins this poll. i have no doubt Mariah will deliver yet another masterpiece.

As much as i love Mariah i think Selena's album might be the winner, look whose single is doing better. Mariah still seems to think that people buy her records without her promoting them. These days are long gone. People need to hear and see that you're releasing a record these days even if your name is Mariah Carey. She needs to work her ass off to promote this album, that's the only way to get that #1. The release of a fantastic second single could help too. Personally i'm most excited about Mariah's release, i really don't care about Selena's.

Mariah Carey is the most influential artist of all time! Her voice is so angelic & her songs sound so heavenly. You can never go wrong with Mariah Carey. It's hard to even skip a song when you listen to her album. I wish her album was coming out in June 23rd instead of July 23rd. I'm so impatient!

Selena definitely has star power but the thing with this generation of "music fans" is that they are single buyers. Mariah is a Diamond, Platinum, and Best Selling Female Artist. Real consumers have been anticipating a Mariah Carey album for years. Selena has catchy music but that's where it ends. Her live showings are laughable and she is simply a pretty young star. This will be her last album because she's going back to acting so I doubt there was any real thought or concept put into this, versus Mariah whose albums always have a cohesive theme and end up being timeless and classic. I wish both ladies success but I will be buying Mariah's album. I need those soft jazzy vocals followed by powerful belts and vocal acrobatics, not a campfire theme chant style song from Selena.

Just look at the Hot 100, YouTube and Twitter. It doesn't take a genius to see who is more popular right now. Gomez's last album didn't do so swell, but she's a household name now and she'll take Mariah with ease. It's quite unfortunate, because I love Mariah, but she's self-destructive when it comes to marketing her music. That video was so unsightly that it ruined the best song she's put out in over a decade.

Doesn't matter that all 5 of Gomez's fans will come on here and vote a billion times a second, because they're just kids, and they don't have lives outside of school, so they don't have jobs and responsibilities to keep them from voting for her over, and over, and over, a bunch of times. What will really matter is the number of actual albums that sell, and Mariah has that won hands down. Selena has no actual talent, she's all auto-tuning, and synthesizing, and lip syncing. Mariah has talent in spades, and has been at this for YEARS, and has never slowed down. Gomez is just another Disney marketed "princess", who'll fade out of "style" after putting out 2 solo albums, IF she's lucky. She can't sing live, and her concerts suffered drastically for it, and the only reason anyone gives a flip about her, is because she may or may not still be dating Justin Bieber(who I happen to actually like). He has talent, and she doesn't, so she's riding his coat tails to get more publicity. That isn't gonna fly forever, and eventually, as much of a gentleman and good person Justin is, he's going to have had enough, and be done with her bull. Selena cannot sing, cannot dance, she doesn't know how to perform. The only thing she has going for her, is that she dresses like a hooker on Hollywood Blvd all the time, so she is saving money on how much fabric she uses for clothes, at least. But that lil body of hers, is all she's got, and that's not talent. That's just using as little fabric as possible, as much heavy make up as possible without looking like a complete clown, and shaking just the right body parts. Whereas Mariah, has sex appeal for days, AND the talent to back everything else up. So you watch, you'll see who the real winner is when Mariah goes platinum, and Gomez can barely get above a thousand or so sales. Hope reality smacks that kid back to her knees quick, before she gets any bigger for her britches than she already is.
