It's hard to pick the greatest among so much greatness, but for me, it has to be Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On." This album is pure genius and sublime songwriting, production and singing. My all time favorite. I was born the same year he passed away...wish I could have seen him...R.I.P Marvin.

Hard choice between PURPLE RAIN and WHATS GOING ON but I was about 7 years old when WHATS GOING ON was released. I used to beg my mama to play the lp. I heard it on the radio this week and it still has the same effect on me, you are filled with emotions and you feel Marvin's message 40 years later-CLASSIC. The very very best RB album of ALL times.

There is NOTHING like SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE. If I were on a desert island and had only one choice, this would be the one. Thriller would be second. :)

It was hard just choosing one because I wanted to pick Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye too; loved all these albums! But I went on the side of nostalgia. Everytime I hear EWF's "Reasons" and "That's the way of the world", it just takes me back to a time of block parties in NY and everybody having a good time dancing and singing along. There are no block parties anymore and no more sing alongs (or should I say who actually knows the words to most songs today). R&B is here to stay!!!!!
