My vote goes to Jared Padalecki because he made me love Sam Winchester for 8 straight years. I can't see anyone else who could have played Sam who is the heart and soul of the series. Writers are always coming up with new, strange, and interesting storylines for Sam. With every new Sam story, Jared takes it and left many speechless, even his own co star! Jared goes above and beyond in every performance for Sam who is a complex and sometimes mysterious character, but you are never in doubt that Sam is a good and pure character at heart who often pays for the sins of others.

In Season 8, Jensen and Dean ran the gamut of emotions, in Purgatory and when Dean got back topside and it was wonderful to watch and feel alongside with Dean (I think the Purgatory storyline was one of the best storyline in the show’s entire series and it should have lasted longer than it did).

Jared played many different Sams over 8 seasons, my favorite was when Sam was possessed by Meg. My second favorite was soulless!Sam, I just don't know how Jared could switch the light out from Sam's eyes. One and always tell which character (demon imposter, Lucifer, soulless, hidden Sam, etc) Jared is playing through subtle alternation. My friends who only watched SPN casually thought a different actor was playing soulless!Sam, that's how good Jared is.

I vote for Jared because he's the heart and soul of the SPN mytharc and absolutely deserves all praise and recognition for his work in Sacrifice (and all other past work). He was only in The End for 5 minutes but it's all fans and critics can talk about, even Jensen! Jared amazes me every SPN season. Sam Winchester is the most inspiring heroic character in television, he has no competition in that area.
