Do you believe a flyover from the MassPike is a necessity for a Palmer casino to happen?

I believe that Mohegan is a bad choice for Palmer. I use this analogy to describe what I see happening with Mohegan, MGM and Hard Rock. When a relationship starts, there is a "courting period". The couple is on their best behavior. They wine and dine to make a great impression, and say "Hey I'm a great catch!". MGM has done this with Springfield. They have donated money towards fireworks, bands, etc., showing Springfield that they will do for the City and are creating a partnership. Just today, I heard Hard Rock is donating money to West Springfield towards creating new ball fields, because West Springfield lacks adequate fields for the kids in town. They are also helping out with the temporary location of the Library at the former Elks Club on Morgan Road. Now let me ask you, what has Mohegan done for Palmer? I feel as though Palmer is acting like a cheap date, and basically whoring itself out. It's basically saying do whatever you want with me, I have no self esteem. People need to wake up and really see what's going on. I agree that Palmer does need something; however, I don't think that a casino is the solution to Palmer's problems. I've said all along, that outlets such as the ones in Lee and the ones in Kittery, ME and Wrenthem would be a great thing to happen to this town. Jobs would be created, people would visit this town, and go to the area restaurants, shops, etc. We are starting to become a destination for antiques, which is a positive. There are many people that are opposed to a casino in town. People really need to do their homework on the issue. They can paint a great picture, that traffic and crime won't be an issue. Mohegan can "show" us that traffic won't be an issue. But let's not forget folks, they're in this to make money. Do you honestly think they care about our small town, and the best interest for the Town of Palmer? I think not. Read the paper, and look at the independent studies that are out there. What Mohegan says we need, and what the independent studies say we need are apples and oranges. Please, for the sake of our community of friends and family and their children, take the time to really understand what this would mean to Palmer. Just remember, if this does happen, and it fails, there isn't a do over. And also, for those of you that didn't know, Mohegan laid off employees within the last year. How can they afford to employ people, if they can't retain their current employees? Please vote No if you truly care about what's best for Palmer.
