    Leave the Redskins name alone.

"The Cleveland Asians", "The Cleveland Hispanics", or "The Cleveland Africans", would these be more acceptable? How about "The Washington Blackskins", or "Kansas City Zulu Chiefs"
    Divide and conquer!

Jeremy, the pure Native American, What reservation did you grow up on? Did you know that the reservation system was the inspiration for Hitler's concentration camps.

One more thing... where are all the animal activists at? Let change the names of the:
    Tigers - Jaguars- Cubs - Diamondbacks - Marlins - Orioles - Cardinals - Blue Jays - Rams - Panthers - Bears - Lions - Broncos - Colts - Bengals - Ravens - Cardinals - Seahawks - Falcons - Eagles - Dolphins - Bulls - Bucks - Grizzlies - Timberwolves - Bobcats - Raptors - Hornets - Hawks

I'm sure there have been horrible things done to all these animals over the years. Why don't we make all of them change their names too!!!!!

When in the world did we as humans get so sensitive to this kind of crap. This team has been existance for 81 years. I would think that the name "Redskins" would have been a much more senstive subject 81 years ago. I mean come on it's a name. Have any of you stopped to think that maybe it is in fact a tribute to the Native Americans? Probably not, you would much rather stir up questions just to start an argument or discussion on the subject. I grew up being a Redskins fan. I now live in Kansas City, we of course have the Chiefs. No one says anything about that name. Maybe due to that fact that they haven't played any sort of professional level in serveral years. We had the same sort of thing happen here several years ago with the Tomhawk Chop chant. Which in my opinion was a complete joke. It was just the fans getting into the game and playing a rold. Come on. We all much more important things to do with our time that sit around and think up of things that will get a risse out of someone. What next... are we going to start an ice hockey team, call them the Eskimos and so someone else can cry about that one too?

FYI - In case you want to call me out... I am pure Native American!!!

The name "redskin" is racist, and the Washington football team should change their name to something else. What the majority of the team's fans want, or what the original owner of the team was thinking, have no bearing on the fact that "redskin" is a derogatory racial label for American Indians. If the team were named after an actual group of Native Americans, like the Iroquois or Mohicans, that might perhaps be comparable to "Vikings" or "Buccaneers", but "redskin" is an offensive racial caricature of an entire group of people, like "pale-face", "darkie", "yellow horde" or whatever, made even more so for the football team being located in the U.S. capital, where the genocide of Native Americans was promoted by the breaking of treaties and planning of military campaigns against them.

I am part Native American and grew up around many who are nearly pure blood. If you are Native American you know what I mean. I do not find the name," Redskin", offensive. I do think the culture and history of America could be more recognized, cherished and preserved whatever the race. I should get on with that in mind. Thankx for the wake up!!!

We constantly here of the horrible tragedy done to the race of Jews in history, also the slave issue and racism towards the blacks.
If I am not mistaken these were all in the past, What makes the treatment of the Natives in their own birthplace not as important?
A bounty was paid for Indian scalps, (Redskins) to help further the cause of eliminating the savages. This might be why over all the years of trying to remove a race from existence, that it is time to really show some respect to them.
