Love or hate Canonical, they've done more for Linux than Linus, Stallman, or anyone else. The Edge is a great idea, and maybe Indiegogo isn't the way to go, but if Shuttleworth is behind it, it will eventually happen
Ubuntu haws stopped being free software long time ago. Ubuntu is not what free software and GNU/Linux were meant to be. Canonical is just doing their business (and thats fine) but they have moved far from protecting users privacy and freedom.
Come on. Put your money where your mouth is and let's get this bigger and bigger.

Like most people I don't think it will make it but I'm really hoping it does. I would love to see Ubuntu start making its own hardware, kind of like apple but with FOSS. Then people would have a good place to get a computer or phone that is being developed with Linux in mind!
I want it to succeed but I think time is running out for the massive goal. The main adopters came at the start

The world needs a far better alternative to proprietary junk (macs included), and Ubuntu (GNU/Linux, in general) is here efulgent with freedom and style. No more excuses!
32 million is way too much for "enthusiasts" only. It won't make even half of it. I like the idea and would by the end product. But who is willing to pay for just an idea? Let's all wait a little longer for Ubuntu Touch to be installable on each Android device.
I just wish the greater Linux community would back this.... It is NOT just a win for ubuntu if it succeeds but a big win for Linux in general !!!

I wish it would but I think a major problem is that its a one time thing: when you buy an android or iOS device you're buying the phone but also a guarentee that it will get updated over time and new featrues will be added. While the ubuntu integration will updated; for how long? It has to reach a huge mass for developers to devote time to making apps that work well with both and if you're just going to use the android part of it where's the prestige. I do wish it would succeed though but it somehow seems to me that if you want to get 10 million each week for two weeks thats quite a lot. Im not quite sure many more consumers are going to buy the phones and while companies might(i think that will be a major help but still). Im at the same time hoping it does and realize it probably wont
I don't think it will reach the financial goal. Which is a HUGE PITY.
