I went for red velvet cupcakes because the U.S. is what I tend to associate them with. Countries around the world will have some rendition of the humble apple pie, so I reckon we could try out something new with U.S. cuisine.
Pecan pie would be my second choice! ;)
Apple pie came from Europe with the colonists. On the other hand, pecan pie originated in the southern US, making it a more distinctly US dish. Vote for pecan pie!
