Okay. Hear me out. This old boyfriend is definitely, obviously going to return but not in this book. Day just loves to mention a character and then bringing that character back later when she doesn't know what else to do. Remember Megumi and Shawna? No! And that's exactly my point. He'll be back when you least expect and least give any shits about him.
