Who should decide which books are available to a child?

I feel that as a parent I should have the final say as to what is or is not appropriate reading material for my children. However, having said that, while in school I would be willing to allow the elected officials of the Board of Education to oversee with community guidance what would be made available through the school's library to our children. At all times though I reserve the right to override any decision, or selection that I deem inappropriate for MY children.
