I actually did the math on the Flim and Flam episode. Using either announced of observed production speeds, Flim and Flam won without turing off the quality check. And even with it off, they tore up a quarter of Sweet Apple Acres, resulting in drastically reduced yearly profits and the eventual loss of Sweet Apple Acres. Whoops. Sorry, AJ.
What about one where Twilight finds some forbidden magic. It corrupts her and her friends to which they use their combined powers to over throw Celestia, Luna and Cadence and they reshape Equestria in their own image.

The Princesses have to find and form a resistance to retake the seat of power, Canterlot, and restore the Elements of Harmony back to normal, before it becomes irreversible. With Celestia having to chose to save Twilight or destroy her.

And, of course it would be, by the genuine meaning of the word, an epic adventure were they to battle the entire crystal empire.
I personally have to side with Nightmare Moon on this one, with Sombra a close second.
Flim & Flam means the Apple family is now homeless, and we'd get to see more of Applejack, beyond family and apples, but most things would probably play out the same, and if we're giving evil the win, I hope to see something very different.
I still have to see Equestria Girls, so I can't talk about Sunset Shimmer.
Trixie ruling Ponyville is interesting, but doomed to be short. Unless she can take down Celestia and Luna, I doubt the alicorn princesses are going to allow a dictatorship so close to the seat of their powers, even if we ignore Twilight's relation to Celestia.
Of the four major villains, Discord has already shown what an Equestria ruled by him is like. Completely nuts, absolutely chaotic, and random as Tartarus. The thing is, I find absolute randomness fun for a while, afterwards it just loses something. He'd probably change things up enough to still be fun, but it's difficult to tell a story when the villain can change the rules whenever he pleases. If he really wanted to win, all he needed to do is hide the Elements of Harmony. Okay, chocolate rain is awesome, but I'm more interested in seeing the other three.
Queen Chrysalis would be very interesting, paranoia and deceit tend to draw my interest, and she's shown to be capable enough to defeat Celestia in a one on one if properly supplied with love. On the other hand, she's also the one who completely disregarded the same power she had just used to defeat the ruler of the sun, calling it ridiculous. Plus, we've also seen the fate that awaits everypony: coccoons.
King Sombra is my #2 option, if only so we can know ANYTHING about the guy other than Crystalssss! Rawr! I'm also curious as to he would just stick to the Crystal Empire or go for world domination, and how he fares against Luna and Celstia in the rematch.
But Nightmare Moon is the one to get my vote. Not for the eternal night, or rather, not just for that, but because I'd like to see what she does. We know next to nothing about her other than her desire for everlasting night. How would she react to everything that's happened in the last millenium? What would Nightmare Moon think about Nightmare Night? Would she feel insulted, or honored to have a holiday dedicatd to her? And what of crops and everything else that requires sunlight? Would she rather kill off Equestria or allow some sunlight? Or would she find a third option? And there's also her interaction with future events. After all, even if Discord somehow doesn't break free when she takes Canterlot (She'd at least have to go there to prove she's in charge, and it would cause quite a bit of chaos) and if Chrysalis doesn't attack (likely, since the wedding would probably not happen, what with Shining Armor being captain of Celestia's guards and brother to the filly who tried to take her down), Sombra's still coming back. And how would she deal with a dragon moving so close to Canterlot (or the Everfree Forest, if she uses her old digs)? For all those reasons, I'd like to see what Nightmare Moon would do upon winning.

Had to go with Chrysalis on this one, as it sounds the most interesting of all of them. I would rather see this not in the cannon-type story, but a more realistic one; it would be quite interesting, almost like a Nazi-occupied Europe or Soviet Russia (During the Stalin years) and likely lead to a rebellion/insurgency. NMM rule would be my second choice, because it would likely inspire a civil war.
Wow, reading that again and it sounds kinda bad; I wouldn't want any of these to be cannon! It would just make for an interesting story, at least in my opinion.
Even though Sombra is probably one of the most un-interesting villains out of the bunch, I think you would get some really interesting stories out of that scenario. The Crystal Empire is taken, and Canterlot is forced to go to war to try and take it back. Or maybe it's not that easy. Maybe Sombra starts taking over parts of Equestria, one by one. With the other villains, I feel like there wouldn't really be much else that could happen that we haven't already seen. If Discord won, then all that would happen is things would stay chaotic. If Nightmare Moon won, it would stay night time. Stuff we've seen. If Sombra took over the Crystal Empire, he may actually become an interesting villain.
I went with "Other": I desire all of them, but one, equally.
That one being "Sunset Shimmer Conquered Equestria with... Teenagers," which is just plain daft and *disrespectful* to Sunset's potential of being a greedy, conniving, and intelligent foil to Twilight.

I'm concerned that people are picking the most disastrous results
I'm voting for Sunset Shimmer. Remember, Pinkie Pie said that there's someone who looks exactly like Twilight when she first meets her. That means Sunset Shimmer wouldn't be conquering Equestria with an army of teenagers, she'd be conquering it with an army of /clones/ Who do you trust? Is that really your friend or is that the mind-controlled clone from another reality? It would be worse than if the Changelings won because these clones would actually have access to all of the abilities of their originals. Chrisalis could turn into an alicorn, but she wouldn't have all of the power associated with that. Principal Celestia would.

I voted for Flim and Flam because to my knowledge it was the least damaging. I mean, yeah, the Apples would lose their home, but Equestria's still a very big place, and it's not like they've lost their know-how. They can make a new farm somewhere else and build it back up over a few years.
The other results might be interesting visually, but inside the confines of the stories themselves ponies would be absolutely miserable, so it really baffles me that so many are voting for them. Guess that popularity hive mind is really powerful, eh?
Tied between Chrysalis taking over Canterlot and NMM's night lasting forever, because since they could've been possible it could give a lot of interesting scenarios.

Other- Gilda wins and Rainbow Dash and she are friends and we never have to see Rainbow Dash again. ( sorry RD fans, I know this would seem terrible to you all. It's just my personal opinion)
Other. Gilda to be exact, be cause in that case she would just be staying on touch with Rainbow Dash and by this point would have adjusted well enough to fit within Pony Society. Alternately, Trixie since in her case the problem could just be solved by everypony moving
@Rockpath5, Wishful thinking lead me to forget that this poll was about rule by villains, not about rewriting some plots so that the stories make more sense. Although my mind wandered by the time I got to typing a comment, I voted for Nightmare Moon. 8^D Magical ponies could adapt Equestria's fauna and flora to life under an eternal blanket of stars. Adapting to madness and manipulation in a chaotic environment under Discord is unlikely.

I wonder how many people consider this a popularity contest instead of actually thinking about the scenario. Would eternal night be interesting? Doubt it. Sombra taken over? A bunch of slaves. Discord not only would make sure we would never expect what would happen next, but can be anywhere to give his commentary on it.
I really tried not to pick Discord just because he's my favorite, but the other scenarios sound boring. Chrysalis' shape-shifting would be second place because of the intrigue.
The NMM Night Forever scenario was visited in Sweetie Belle Chronicles. In that alternate reality, Sweetie finds out that NMM is actually nice and that her night actually did not end up lasting forever: after banishing Celestia and a few weeks of "eternal" night, ponies started worrying about starvation from not having daylight to grow crops with so NMM had to restore the day-night cycle to save them, finally understanding why Celestia would not let her have it.

Of the two current leaders, I would have to choose Discord's Chaos. An eternity of nighttime is really more inconvenient than it is evil, plus Discord can just make it night whenever he wants anyway.

You have to play through the scenarios in your head. Discord's Chaos would likely cause everyone to leave. If Chrysalis took over Canterlot, everyone would die. I don't think Sombra could 'Devour' the Chrystal Empire. Trixie couldn't control Ponyville, because eventually they'd send Celestia a letter and she'd come do something. Flim & Flam are just stupid, I mean, in the actual episode, AJ "didn't learn anything", so it's more of just a filler villain, really. If Sunset Shimmer conquered Equestria with teenagers, think of all the horrible things that would happen, they'd become ponies and stumble around awkwardly. So that puts Eternal Night ahead of all the others, because they still have some sunlight, its just not a lot because its reflected from the moon. :)

As for other: a version where Twilight's brother doesn't pop up out of the blue, where Cadence is not an alicorn and where Twilight isn't "rewarded" with wings after playing with a loaded gun, _twice_, messing up her friends and getting herself killed. Bringing her back from limbo wearing a dunce cap would have been quite sufficient.
