Which Seahawk Team Would Win, 2005 Or 2013?

I agree with Jeff. No disrespect to the '05 Team that we are all so proud of, but I think this team we have now is younger, faster, stronger and maybe even hungrier. Carroll and Schneider have amassed a juggernaut squad and it's true that they are sitting right now at 10 - 1 and we haven't even seen them play their best games yet. Every single game they play it seems they've left something on the field. For me it comes down to their potential--we saw the true potential of the '05 team, and we all know they won that game at Super Bowl XL, whether the final score reflected that fact or not. For all intents and purposes, in my book, they won the day. But again, this 2013 team has yet to reach their full potential. When they get all their pieces together, dot all their i's and cross all their t's, this is going to be one heckuva scary team! I also see this team sticking together longer, dominating longer, more of a dynasty team than the '05 team was, based on their youth, continuity and chemistry. All in all, it's a very good time to be a Seahawks fan! GO HAWKS!!!

This is a game of finesse vs. brutal physicality. I love Shaun Alexander but even with the 05' line, he couldn't hang with the speed of these 13' linebackers. Especially with the help of punishing linebacker sized SS Kam Chancellor, and FS Earl Thomas with unreal closing speed. Hasselbeck was having a great year, but the 13' loaded pass rush would cause some problems with a four man rush. I think 05' would come out with their fair share of big plays, but the 13' team would come out with a steady close win.

Player for player the 13 team has more talent but I think the 05 team had a little greater desire to win

It comes down to this one untangible that I remember thinking about after the game. People were talking about all the superstition surrounding which team would win before game, and it was said that the team that had players that got in trouble were the ones that would lose. I'm not superstitious so when I heard two seahawks had gotten into trouble, I thought nothing of it except that these are guys that are really excited to be there. Then there was the talk about how the steelers where a more physical team, and I thought "it's freaking football, how do you not be physical" (unless of course you're talking 2013 rules, but I digress). So Seattle went into that game with a chip, they played hard, and physical, got the attention of the refs that brought more penalties than if they would have just played strait football and lost the game. Not because they were the lesser team, but because they couldn't rely on themslevles enough to just trust that they could win playing the same game they had played all season. So here is the lesson I got from this. Never change anything you've done when it comes to show time. Whatever formula you had, whatever made you win to get you this far. Keep.. wear the same shoes, drink the same drink.. walk the same walk, and you will play the same game that got you there... I whish all the best to Seattle this year.. go Hawks!!

I give it to the Thirteens on intangibles. These guys are having fun and playing together as a team like few teams anyone's seen in a while. They also have the benefit of having narrowly missed their big shot last season. There has been a laser focus since the day after that game, and if a team can go out and MEET expectations that it sets for itself, then they're much more likely to EXCEED those expectations when it really counts. That's what I think we'll see over these next weeks.

I'm a lifelong Bears fan. This team reminds me in many ways of the '85 Bears. And with a similar history. The year before their Super Bowl run, they posted a dramatic win over Washington in the playoffs before getting mowed down by the Bill Walsh-Joe Montana 49ers, who went on to win it all. Then the Bears utterly marched through their '85 season and would not be denied the championship.

These Seahawks have that same kind of magical combination of charisma and skill. Team "vibe" matters. These guys have it. We've yet to see their best game. Not by a long shot.
