How valuable are agent form rejection letters?

  • Not important: I only want to know when an agent says YES!

  • Somewhat important: It's nice for my records

  • Very important: I wait for the letters and follow up when I don't hear back

Form rejection is better than no response. Who wants to sit for 2-3-4 months wondering if MS got to agent, got lost in spam, sent to wrong person? Agents are busy, but writers are busy too. If a writer can take the time to send a MS, and agent (or their asst.) can take the time to respond one way or the other.
