OLPH or "PETS" should be the next mass mob. I went to the first on the Eastside with my sister and daughter and it was very nice. Being from the First Ward we immediately thought of OLPH to be the next one !
It should be done at St Clare's ... The beauty of the church inside is stunning, as well the Wooden Altar and Parquet floor that was all built by hand by one of their parishioners who was a Carpenter and his daughter. this is stunning and beautiful... The man who build this altar recently passed away and for this to be done there would be such an honor to him as he did all this work for the love of God and his church and asked for nothing in return.
@Michelle, nobody could have said it better. I couldn't think of one thing to add to it. Everyone should be able to envision its beauty.. PETS is one of the most beautiful Churches in our area. Please vote for Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
I do wish a photo of the inside of Our Lady of Perpetual help accompanied the photos of it's brilliant outside. The gorgeous stained glass windows alone are worth it, not to mention the stunning alter, majestic wooden pews, elaborately designed wooden balcony, golden tabernacle, and more. Our Lady of Perpetual help is truly one of the most beautiful churches most people will ever see. I grew up in this church and have traveled much in my life, so I can attest to this. It is breathtaking.
PETS, as the locals call it, is an absolutely stunning structure but even more importantly, it serves as a corner stone for generation after generation of the people who love it and have called the Old First Ward their home. Growing up I can recall going to Sunday school in the basement classrooms after mass, singing in the choir, my friends serving as alter boys, and all of our mothers volunteering to clean the church, and reading the priests robes. A tremendous amount of love goes into keeping PETS beautiful and ready for the masses that have shaped our neighborhood and our families for longer than we can remember.
I would love to see Our Lady of Perpetual Help chosen for this years Buffalo Mob mass. Not only will those who attend see a building to behold, but they will feel a great love within it's walls and leave the celebration with their hearts full.
I believe St. Clare's should be chosen because the church reflects the onging change in the surrounding area; (Larkin Renovation). The consoludation of the five parishes, was quite a fete to accomplish. For decades, the now St. Clare, (formely St. Stephens's) is well known for it's long tradition to St. Jude's Shrine. Truly, this icon deserves a spot on Buffalo's map.
