What about sick and handicapped people and shut-ins? I can't believe Canada Post is actually planning to go ahead with this horrible abomination and foolishness. They're even lieing about it saying people want it.

It isn't that I mind heading out to pick up my mail - it's that the post offices close before I get home from work, due to being a public transit commuter. I have pen pals, do calligraphy and send care packages - all of which have had a profound impact on myself and my friends and family. To lose that avenue would be a tragic loss of culture.

Where are the 46 communities from in the so called study saying they want these new locked boxes to go to pick up their mail? Nobody in my community of Sydney, NS asked my family. I don't agree because people should have full access everyday to their mail at their home, not everyone has a way to get to a locked box if not in walking distance plus, with heavy rain and snow storms, people should not have to wait for their mail because their could be something important being sent the person needs and may have a deadline to respond back or a cheque or money order needed and would not know if sent because the weather prevented the person from getting to this locked box. Also, it is an inconvience to be leaving the house everyday to see if any mail arrived when there may not be any and if it was sent to the door we would know and not miss it due to bad weather, or if the bad weather was the day before a holiday we could miss out on getting to the bank to cash a cheque or money order sent or meet any other deadlines!
