Really disappointing from Swann and what a lousy way to retire. England fans who paid serious money to see a world class bowler have been cheated. Possibly more behind the scenes that led to the retirement but still nevertheless not cricket.

By resigning halfway through the tour without proper cause Mr Swan could be in breach of his contract with the ECB. An interesting question: what if other team members were to also suddenly resign just before the 2 remaining Tests? What if less than 11 were left!? Altogether a selfish act not worthy of an English Test player. I shudder to think what some captains of the past such as Freddie Brown, Gubby Allen or Peter May, let alone such patriots as Freddie Trueman, Denis Compton or Colin Cowdrey, would have made of it.

Should be flown home with his family without further ado. Smug, self-centered individual , obviously too well rewarded . Should have told manager that did not want to be considered for final two tests and supported the rest of the team . Why did he go ? Normal dads do not have the free time or lifesyle he enjoys .

I think Swan is totally selfish. He should stay till the end of the tour and support his team mates. If he isn't playing well enough he should be carrying the drinks and helping in the nets etc.

Dear Sirs,
Swann should be ashamed of himself deserting the team in their hour of need. Just because he feels he cannot cope with The Australians on their pitches is no excuse for desertion.
Once you have committed to an Ashes tour you stay to the bitter end regardless of how well or badly you are doing.
Swann should be ashamed of himself by embarassing English cricket in this way,

Disgraceful self centered individual, if the England shirt means that little to him then good riddance, still will be nice for him to be home by Christmas I am sure.

He knew that he was going to be 'tonked' al over the park and decided to leave whilst the going was good.
Presumably he has broken his contract and wlll have to refund to the ECB. He has made a selfish decision, without regard for his team mates. who must wish they were going with him.

Swann went on tour to represent millions of Cricket players and supporters. He's been humiliated in the first three tests so is quitting to preserve his ego. We can tolerate failure if the guys go down with all guns blazing, but this is just wet.

Swan is leaving a sinking ship to preserve his test bowling analysis. Why did he go on tour in the
first place? It is obvious the team is in disarray and I await Boycott's comments.
