They are both great. :)
VVV is the best environment I have come across. It includes the ability to access plugins and themes just like you would on a live site. It also includes things like wp-cli which allows you add themes and plugins just like a live site, because it is a self contained live site. It doesn’t have any issues with blocking Python or other programming languages.
It took me about 3 weeks of messing around, off and on to get it going, and yes, you do have to start it up in the terminal, but it is the best. Now working on using the terminal and git to move a site from the desktop to the live server. I can use terminal to access my live sites, but I need to set up git on my live server.
