Leashes can be a God send...if Id had one years ago...when my son was five..we were exiting a theme park.. the crowd was massive...had my kid by the hand....I looked down at him....it wasnt kid at all. I freaked and started searching the people and saw a woman 20 people away....I felt she had the same panicked look on her face as me...we waved and forced our way to each other. She had mine and me hers...how I dont know.. we hugged each and after a short talk and exchange of our boys, blah, blah, blah....so...leashes? OH YES!!!

Not lazy or bad parenting at all. Every kid is different. some are mellow and may not need it I have a boy who is all hyper and very friendly. I use the stroller when I can but he wants to walk or stretch and I want him to get excecise too. I hold his hand but I like to have the back up in case he sees something (or someone) that interests him and he pulls away. Once gone in a crowd it may be too late. I agree that one should not be used while playing or 100% of the time but in a crowd where he can slip away I want that back up and besides, he loves his doggie and plays with it all of the time.
