I definitely understand the fuel and hours of driving to the nearest town to get the yarn. I prefer the mail and free delivery with coupons use.

I TRY and make all my purchase's
with coupons and often have a family member come with me so I can use them for coupons too! HATE it when I can't use a coupon on crochet books!!

I definitely use coupons and I especially like that Joanns regularly offers percentage off your entire purchase coupons which usually include off of sale items too!!!

I began employment with Michael's in October, but before then I always shopped based on what was on sale. Now that I have an employee discount, which is what I consider very generous, I shop based on what is on sale that I can combine with my discount. I still utilize the 40 or 50 percent off coupons when available to buy regular priced items, but combine my discounts with the yarn on sale whenever I can. For example, when Canon's simply soft is on sale 2/6, combined with my discount I can get 12 skeins for 24 dollars. I love that!

I not only consider free shipping but also look for a yarn store that takes Paypal. My husband hates to use the credit card online so it's easier for me to buy online with Paypal.

I also live in Canada and am appalled at the price of yarn here. I use the Michael's coupon when I can and I order online and have it shipped to a postal business in Blaine, WA. I always declare the purchase on my way back home, but if I'm going to be down in the states anyway for other things, I will purchase yarn there.

I have only made one purchase of yarn online. I was extremely disappointed when it arrived. The yarn was listed as #4 worsted weight, however, it is more like a heavier sport weight yarn. I had ordered 8 skeins. I won't be doing that again. I usually buy from Michael's as they have the best selection, and are only about 9-10 miles from me. Wal-Mart carries some of the Red Heart and Lion Brand yarns, but their selection is poor in store, but if you know what you are buying, Wal-Mart has a great selection online. I try to save every way I can, using coupons if at all possible. Michael's frequently has coupons here.

I am definitely conscious on sales items and coupons. The cost of crafting supplies can add up quickly and can put a strain on your finances. This shouldn't be the case, crafting should be fun and for some way to supplement their income. I do it for the pleasure and as a stress release. I make a list of items I need/want and every week I check the sales ad in search of these items and taking advantage of coupons. I even use competitors coupons at the various stores for a better savings. I try to not to pay regular price on anything. If I do I shop around for the most reasonable price. I will also, check out local thrift stores. In matter of fact I have found a few treasures in doing so. This works out for me and it keeps my husband happy. I don't have the issue of him complaining about how much I am spending or how much supplies I accumulate. In matter of fact he invites me to the craft store or will ask if I need to make a trip to the craft store.

I definitely try to buy items on sale or use coupons at Joann's or 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby.

I'm always looking for a sale and/or coupons when I'm buying yarn. That's why the majority of my purchases are from Michaels or Hobby Lobby because they both offer weekly coupons.

Hi Mikey and Dan, you introduced me to red heart with love on the first cruise. I loved it then. But I could not find it here in Canada. I e-mailed red heart and they said that Fabricland in Newmarket carried With Love.
So I called them, they want 11.79 a ball. I know you can buy it in the states at jo-annes for 4.49 and if you have a coupon you could get up to 25% off.
Can you tell me why there is such a price difference?
If I order from red heart in the states how much will shipping be? Where do yo order from?
I know you live in Walkerton ontario so you must have the same problems, or maybe you get your yarn for free? Not sure. I am enjoying your videos, I just finished my second little baby dress and I never thought I would even try crocheting one before, thanks. You are teaching me to branch out, sure would love to hear your thoughts on the price difference from the states to canada.
