I don't think the school should be sued, but the teacher and nurse who mishandled the situation should be held accountable for their actions or lack of.

Me and my brother were born with Sickle Cell as well. We have not always been understood by the school and staff when we became ill. I realize that this school was apprised and should have been more sensitive but the school is ultimately a partner with the parents to help bring a balance between the gaps in education due to illnesses and the education that we parents desire for our children. There should be harsh disciplinary action for the staff involved in not offering the appropriate assistance and they should be held up as an example of what not to do as opposed to alienating or causing an antagonistic relationship with the school. It can get better if we allow cool heads to prevail. The nature of the illness is that sufferers will get sick but we can implement and standardize specific protocols for the children to communicate their levels of discomfort which will dictate our responses accordingly. I pray Drake recovers soon and that God will touch his heart and his mind and fortify his entire person for what this journey will require.

Above every daily challenge, I challenge you to SOAR!!

    Lovingly Sickle Siren
