I like the Washington Trademarks. What will the Patent Office do with that?

It is my opinion that the term 'redskins' is not universally thought in terms of disparagement. To what extent 'redskins' is thought to be disparaging to American Indians has not factored in current discussion. By the very fact that a football team is named 'redskins' implies that it is a term of honor. The use of the word in tandem with an Indian profile gives a sense of dignity, strength, nobility and a great warrior to many Indian and non-Indians. The use of color names for blacks and whites is ubiquitous. The addition of 'skins' is old fashioned and is short for 'skinned' as in white-skinned. It is a shame that this term is deemed inappropriate when in fact it is respected by many.

I am part Indian and I am not offended in the least. We need to stop this and get on to the real issues going on in this world today. Just move on. Tying up the court with litigation is a waste of valuable court resources and finances. Getting a different "judge" is ridiculous. This is not justice, it is just changing venue until you get the decision you want. Our first amendment rights trump all of this.

What if it becomes offensive to use animal names for teams? It is felt to violate the species and demean them? What then. Where do we stop. Before you know it, there won't be any acceptable names. Think about it.

Yes change the name make it something synonymous with the illiterate masses of America that enjoy such a violent sport. The Washington Rednecks with the mascot of the team being Jeff Dunham's Puppet Bubba Jay. https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0LEV1hT9qJTTTMAFERXNyoA?p=jeff+dunham+bubba+jay&fr=yfp-t-426&fr2=piv-web#index=frame

It is a violation of its First Amendment rights for the government to interfere in any way. Where does it stop? In light of being P. C. , we need to STOP letting the federal government dictate the decisions which affect our lives.

As a lifelong Redskin fan, the team also needs to consider the costs of caving to political correctness. I for one, as well as several people I have talked to in my neighborhood, would no longer support the team in any way if they change their name.

We always used to call them the Washington Foreskins.
