I think it's fair to call him unprofessional and maybe even dense ( I assume he watched the show before he took the part..?), but I'm not sure I'd label him bigoted. Maybe performing gay love scenes makes him feel squeamish or self-conscious or maybe he's wrestling with his own sexual identity. He's young and dumb and pulled out a gig he didn't care for. I can't judge him for that.
