How about an "all of the above" option? I'll spend my money on Netflix and Amazon Prime, thank you. The big screen experience is truly over-rated.
I rarely get to the movies since I have a toddler, however we did go to a movie last weekend. We sat through literally 25 minutes of commercials and previews. I don't mind previews but after paying a small fortune to get into the movie and some popcorn I really loathe being forced to sit through so much advertising.
