Should we charge entry fees to prevent mass tourism at sites such as Venice?

Not a very good idea. Tickets would discriminate tourists with less money. Also, Italians just want to charge you for everythig! Overerated country, and a Venice is overrated city

It's not about snobbery. It's about preservation. That city is suffering from environmental problems that mean it;s not going to be there for future generations. But I am also concerned that people from all countries and economic means get a chance. Perhaps there could be a limited number of tickets issued by lottery. Maybe at a low or no cost. I can't believe there are no alternatives to this problem.
