Is college football better than the NFL?

We get these "NFL vs college football" type articles every year and they never tell us anything new. I'd be really interested in seeing an analysis of WHO prefers which and what led them to that preference. I suspect that people who attended a school with a decent football program, or one with enough history, prefer the college game. People who did not attend such schools prefer the NFL (although people in SEC country would probably be an anomaly here). The connection to your school is an enormous part of what makes the college game appealing to people.

Personally, I am very much a college football fan and am utterly apathetic about the NFL. There's no denying that the pro game had the best talent and is football at its highest level. But I don't really care about that. I love college football because of the history, the traditions, the pageantry, the schematic innovations, the live bands, the live mascots and the rivalries. I love that Peyton Manning will always be a TENNESSEE legend, that Vince Young will always be a TEXAS legend, that Robert Griffin III will always be a BAYLOR legend. The atmosphers of the NFL is far too sterilized and corporate driven for me to have any interest in it.

Nothing is more lame than the stupid Wisconsin Jump Around thing. Of course, nobody really cares about college football up there anyway. It's NFL territory. I think college football would get more respect if the games really meant something. Sorry but they don't matter except for a few teams and in the NFL every game is a chance to get into the playoffs and to the Duper Bowl. and what's up with all of the stupid and meaningless bowl games? Yay, my team won the rose bowl or the Alamo bowl...who cares?

The college is WAY better than the NFL. Rivalries, quicker pace of the game, less fucking timeouts.
I have been saying this for years that the college game is superior to the NFL.

None of these 20 reasons have anything thing to do with the game of football. They are all side-show attractions! The college atmosphere of course will bring all the fun hoopla with it, it's support for a team you pay to attend or have attended. It's like if your company had a sports team, you would be at every game. The college games are enjoyable just like the little league baseball championships every summer. NFL has the best football players in the world, that's why the NFL is better than college football!

I love college football, but it will never be better than the NFL until it has a real playoff system.

There's no loyalty in the NFL. Players see dollar signs and go wherever to play. Totally ruins it.

How many of these college players will make it to the NFL, if they choose that route? Less than 2%? I like college football, but if I had a choice I'd take the pros every time. I want to watch the best of the best. College just seems watered down to me when I see close to 100 players on a sideline vs. a 53-man roster. I don't care about cheerleaders and fight songs and mascots. Just give me football without the fluff.
