As a pilot, I found the premise that planes were going to fall out of the air because of a loss of communications with the tower completely ridiculous. There are procedures and alternatives, and no pilot would allow a lack of communications to cause him/her to run out of fuel when the plane could be easily diverted to another airport by contacting center and/or establishing communication with other planes in the air. When the ABC show, Forever, is more believable about eternal life than a supposedly true story about software upgrades affecting air traffic control, the writers and producers need a reality check. The idea of a heavy aircraft buzzing a runway and dropping a cable to a speeding car is another absurd plot twist for a fact based show
