There aren't nearly enough of these for the nearly 6000 acute care hospitals in this country, so a "protocolized" format, for non-intensivists, as a guide to early recognition and treatment, is likely a good idea. With emphasis on the things, recognition/fluids/antibiotics/vasopressors, that work of course.
