    @Jose I can only give you the benefits that my kids have experienced by playing sports in school. Here's the short list;
    HARD WORK, not only academically but physically, PERSEVERANCE when it got tough they learned to work through it and never give up, TEAMWORK there is no I in team, SOCIAL SKILLS by getting to know people and make friends with other kids they most likely would not have met, RESPONSIBILITY because their Mom doesn't remind them what time practice is or what they need to bring and if they are late they don't play, ACCOUNTABILITY, if they don't make the grades in class they don't play on game day, RESPECT which they have an overabundance for every coach they have had over the years, a sense of PRIDE in their self and school. ENCOURAGEMENT when one of fellow teammates needs it, PATIENCE to understand that a referees call in always the right call. I could go on and on but I think this short list of things will make you understand just how important playing sports can be for kids. These things can also be said for choir, band, orchestra, FFA, science club, odyssey of the mind or any others that I might have missed.
    I never played sports in school and before my kids played I might have agreed with you but after seeing what it has done for my four kids and watching the lessons they learned I am grateful to every school board, athletic director, coach, athlete, and parent volunteers that I have had the honor to have met in the past few years. My kids would not be who they are today without sports!

    Sports are so important to society, we have accomplished so much due to these events that have absolutely no impact on the rest of your life or the quality of your personality.
