Would You Support A Gas Tax Hike To Fix Michigan's Roads?

How about spending the tax money that's already being charged on each gallon of gas on the roads. I'm willing to bet most people don't realize that most of the tax money collected on every gallon of gas goes to the general fund to be spent on whatever they want. The State report states a lot of that money goes to education - that's another story another day. I'm willing to bet a lot of the general fund money goes to welfare too. The State report also shows that the state roads - anything starting with an M, I or U get most of the money, the counties are next and then the pennies that are left go to the cities. It's all a joke folks - they tell us we pay less in gas tax than most of the surrounding states - .19 cents per gallon. What they don't tell you is that we also pay 6% sales tax, a federal tax and additional fees that add up to over .40 cents per gallon. I copied this statement from the report - 2012 data from the Federal Highway Administration, Michigan ranks 33rd among states for the amount of investment per lane-mile of road; 47th for investment per vehicle mile driven, and dead last among the 50 states for investment per driver. Looks like to me that we just need to do a better job of spending the money on what it was intended for and stop the waste!!!!!

Haven't people in this state had a hard enough time. Many lost homes and a lot lost there vehicle due to economy and our already out of sight insurance fees. Maybe they can drive the rest of the company's out of state and starve what's left of us..

Did Governor Snyder just say raising gas taxes were important to creating jobs? Who would have thought so?
