PSU behemoth Air India has been asked to cut costs by 10%. Do you think it can do that?

AirIndia can only be salvaged or, sad to say, re-animated, if privatised. Managing an airline efficiently cannot be done by incompetent bureaucrats who have no idea of how to do the job cost-consciouslyon the one hand, and be customer-oriented on the other. I avoid flying AirIndia, mainly because it is extremely unpunctual, and the staff is badly trained. Of course, freebies for politicians and the like should be banned altogether, and the interior network of rampant corruption has to be destroyed. In private hands, such an uphill task could be accomplished, but in the hands of bureaucrats it will only worsen.
