The main problem is that many authors do not engage. This has nothing to do with anonymity or any of the negative views in this section of the poll: a lack of response is seem for both anonymous and named comments on PubPeer, for comments at PubMed and comments at PLOS journal sites. For me, this demonstrates that many corresponding authors have singularly failed to grasp what science is and how it works.
