Sheilds was ok last year and defiantly replaceable, Butler was awful, Hoz was ok with still alot of room(290/365/475) to get better at the plate, Moose was bad, Aoki is a liability in the field and a POOR RBI guy for a contact hitter with speed usually in scoring position. This is a 92 win team.
Bottom line…We underachieved in the regular season last year. Det in not as good as they were last year, Chi is better, and Cle is still bad at D. THE ENTIRE ALC EXCEPT FOR THE ROYALS IS BAD AT DEFENSE! We are fast, aggressive on the base-pads, and play a 7 inn game! Welcome to baseball large market teams who have been handing out PED's like candy over the last 3 decades! A players prime is from 24-28 years of age and my team is full of these guys!
The SP corp will be better this year. Sheilds was an average pitcher with the ability to throw a well-above- average game or 2 in a row. We will miss his presence in the locker room more than his skills on the field. Duffy, Ace and Edison(not to mention Vargas was hurt for 6 weeks last year) will fill the void of Sheilds talent and GMDM will figure out the inning void.
These young players will build on last years success and bring that new confidence to the yard every day in 2015.
