A son named John David (David after his dad) let everyone know that he had "dibs" on the name David, even before he married. He didn't mind when a sister gave her son David as his middle name. About 3 years later John married, they had a baby boy a little more than a year after that, and he is indeed David. Other than that all names were/are open, and there are no repeat first names among the 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

We've got one great-grandchild and three great-great-grandchildren on my side of the family all with the middle name Rose, due to one awesome great-(great)-grandmother.
