I saw this in the 90's on the West Shore. Parents screaming at baseball players and their parents. Esquimalt bleachers were the worst.

I suspect that the problem rests with the 2% who responded with the second option (too strict). Impose a restraining order on them.

If it's the parents 'God given right' to belittle the officials, then it's the leagues 'God given right' to protect those officials. The solution; remove from the game the child who's parent is acting up. Three strikes and the child gets removed from the league.
