I trimmed maybe half of my divacup's and keeper's stems (I don't remember exactly, as it was about 10 and 15 years ago, respectively).
But, I don't cut straight. I "chip" or angle the cuts (thinner at the bottom), for an even more comfortable fit.
A long thick solid stem like Fleurcup or LUB etc I trim the stem completely but on the Femmecup I've kept the stem intact it since it doesn't bother me all.
