I've encountered wild bear many times. 2 times at my friends house in wooded area, and 4 times in job remodeling. The worst was in was working and going to remove metal shelves and dunking doughnuts was next door as was going in the worker @ DD came out opened the bin and both his arms were broken instantly by a baby bear momma bear was not far we made noise closed the lid & got him in called 911 the worker was scared and so were we.

Last year I encountered a bear in the woods in Dutchess County. We watched each for a couple seconds and then he ran off.
