I was typing too quickly and typed attach - I meant attack of course!!!
There is already a new independent pizza restaurant opened - what is going to happen to that establishment if you allow this chain of commercial pizza makers to open up? This is a small market town fighting to keep its individuality, and with lots of local shops dependent on this individuality. Why on earth would anyone, resident in Ludlow, agree to having this place, it beggars belief.
Everything in Ludlow seems to be under attach as though being independent and unique is a crime, and that individuality should be stopped and wiped out. Obviously the person(s) making the deal will be happy, but local people do count for something, especially at election time - think about that!
Of the three national pizza restaurant chains Pizza Express is the best. Its salads are fresh, the pasta is freshly made and the pizzas are of good quality. They also carry a good range of wines and beers and provide smart and comfortable dining areas. The idea of Ludlow as a 'slow town' is attractive but the town was not thriving on this basis. It is counter productive to dogmatically resist any innovation in favour of some hazy conservative notion of keeping Ludlow unchanged and in isolation from the rest of the country. Properties will stand empty and become run down, or become second hand stores run by charities. I would be happy if the Marches pub/restaurant could have carried on as it was, but failing that, I think that we must try to avoid reflex judgements and consider each application on its merits. This application is far more acceptable than that of the introduction of W.H. Smiths or Costa Coffee into the town and I think that we should accept it.
Theres already Ludlow Pizza Company, Ludlow Kebab & Pizza House and Munchies.
We don't need another pizza restaurant.
