Do you think P.K. Subban should have been suspended for his slash on Mark Stone?

A majority of yes in a Ottawa newspaper. What a surprise! Why bother doing a survey?

  • Knoxx - 9 years ago

Also to add, You think Sens and Sens fans should be thanking Subby! His Penalty gave them the only twop goals scored by a sens the entire game! Subban will back, Max will be back, and the Serious will be over before you know it. and they (Sens) will bitch about this till next season, and this Slash will be the last thing on any Canadiens mind! :) GO HABS GO!!

It was a slash, that's it! He got 5 min Major and a game, The fact that Stone was back out on the ice - also threw punches at the end of the third. (....perhaps that's where he hurt his wrist? )
I think Subban got more than what he deserved. for the slash WITHOUT intent to hurt.

Stone is an over actor...one of the worst performances I have ever seen.
He's an embarrassment .....GROS BEBE LALA!!!

  • Shawn - 9 years ago

I am a long time Montréal fan. Have lived here all my life. Have to admit Subban should of been suspended. The slash was not necessary and quite unprofessionnal. At this level, they should know by now that this is a dangerous play whether Stone was hurt or not.

Dean? The doctor should of slapped your mother when you were born. I hope you aren't the smart one of your clan. Subban has Norris , Olympic Gold, World Junior Gold and is the highest paid player in the NHL. Stone has done nothing except roll around like he'd been shot, then within minutes back on ice. If Stone never played again in the NHL would be better for us fans. I pay big money to watch players like Subban not nobody's like Stone. The guy is not in the right sport,it was a tap on the wrist, I've seen guys play with broken legs, dislocated shoulders, they were not on the ice pretending they were dying. If Stone can't play, move on and bring another young player up. Too bad if Stone doesn't play cause I would like to see PK take Stone's head off and shit down his throat. By the way have a great day LOOSSEERR...............

Sens suck a**!!!!! Go Habs Go!!!!!!!

  • Dean - 9 years ago

For dickhead Dan: Weather Stone embellished the slash or not it was still a two handed lumberjack axe swing that had intent to injure. What did Stone do to deserve that. Subban got what he deserved, there is no need for that crap. I loved Subban's reaction to the penalty call, jumping up and down waving his arms like an idiot. It was the right call and he should be out if Stone is out. That's not a playoff hockey move that's a typical bonehead Subban goof move. Why do you think that Hockey Canada didn’t let Subban play in the Olympics.

  • Ray - 9 years ago

Subban said,"I don't ever remember targeting him or saying anything like that to him"(threats to injure Stone). If he didn't threaten to injure,he would have said,I didn't threaten him, simple. Subban is guilty. All these Mtl fans say he shouldn't be suspended. It is a joke that assaults like this are allowed.

  • Pony - 9 years ago

The Subban slash was bad however Stone did return to play and in fact took part is some of the rough housing that took place after the slash. Who is to say the injury is all from the slash. Maybe if he had stayed off the ice after his rolling around on the ice instead of coming back five minutes later, the injury wouldn't be so bad. I am not condoning the slash - just saying fighting with a possible wrist injury likely only may it worse.

Hey Rick! Be a man, Ottawa is not half the team Montreal is. Why dream. If we listened to fans like you, all players would be suspended. Your from a little town named Ottawa and the number one thing that comes from Ottawa is BS all the time. You want play with the big boys, stop finding a person to blame for your loses ang grow up. It someone has to get hurt, too bad and move on. Try to stand and fight and be a man, instead of crying for a pussy like Stone....Grow Up, this is our game. I would put you in the hospital if it meant I would win.

It is funny how the tables are turned, in 2013 and now, Sens player gets suspended (rightly or wrongly) and now the Habs player gets no suspension and to boot Subban is not a first time offender.
I know the Sens are looking for pay-back but the best pay-back is to WIN the series!! Bettman needs to revisit this "deliberate intent to injury" play, Subban should be suspended the same amount of games that Stone is out. What kind of message is this sending out to kids?
Ottawa needs to take the high road and play with all their heart and play hard, and not let the "goonish" play of one Montreal player get them off their game. Remember, no one expected the Sens to make the playoffs, so the Sens have nothing to loose and everything to gain.
Best message the Sens can send is to play the game that got them into the playoffs and win by hard work and skill!
Do it for asst coach Reeds and take it all!!!
Leave the goon play for the other team.

  • Heiki - 9 years ago

NHL needs a policy that suspend aggressive player until injured one can return. It is the best way to stop deliberate assaults.

  • Dan - 9 years ago

The only reason Subban got a game misconduct was due to Stone crawling on the ice as if his arm was cut off. Three minutes later he is back on the ice. It was a penalty, but no way it deserved anything more. This is playoff hockey, move on and Ottawa management should be ashamed on how they are crying and making threats against the Canadiens. The better team won game 1 and let's move on. The NHL ruled on this play, and they made the right call. We the fans want to see playoff hockey, not the acting Stone displayed.

I think Gary Bettman should draft Subban to his "Goon Squad Team". Do we have to wait until a player
is permanently injured by this IDIOT before serious actions are taken? Subban shoula at least be
suspended as long as Stone is out.

  • Brian - 9 years ago

I am a Habs fan and think the slash is pretty gross. One game suspension for Subban and Stone gets back in later in the season. PK owns up versus Neil, and we go back to hockey.

  • Chris - 9 years ago

Why is hockey on another standard? It seems like a criminal matter.
Assault with intent to cause harm.
    He uttered threats.
Suban nocked out Pageau's tooth in 2013.
    He has priors.

  • Geo - 9 years ago

Subban did the same stuff in JR with the Bulls. Dirty play followed by all sorts of antics to get out of facing the music. The only thing he would never do is drop em and / or take accountability for his actions. Now he's even got his coach covering for him. Had someone hacked Price the same way, I think coach Th would have been singing a much different tune.

  • Mike - 9 years ago

Its obviously wasn't wise to slash him the way he did. However, knowing the importance of his own implication toward the series I doubt that Subban sincerely wanted to injure badly Stone and by so, jeopardize Ch outcomes. Now, if every 2 handed slash were systematically penalized severely, I would also vote for a certain degree of suspension. Eye for and eye declarations are blatantly stupid.. They will only embitter the whole game.

  • Bob Bruce - 9 years ago

Vicious and deliberate attempt to injure by Subban. Suspend him for as long as Stone is out. Especially if it can be verified that Subban threatened Stone. Or send Chris Neil after a Hab star.

  • Larry Belliveau - 9 years ago

I am neither an Ottawa or Montreal fan so have no interest one way or another. I think the slash was vicious and deserves a suspension. I am not surprised that Gary Bettman and his crew of idiots has decided to do nothing. I hope this series continues to escalate and that someone sticks up for Stone and makes Suban pay. He should not be a candidate for any award as he is a classless person. He needs to grow up

  • jim - 9 years ago

    Don hold out your wrist.Idiot

  • Joe Hockey - 9 years ago

Great example Dave Cameron is setting for all the kids out there. PK's slash was wrong, nobody disputes that, just how wrong he was is for the ref and the league to decide. If you disagree, say so, but leave it at that. What's next is Cameron going to threaten to punch Therrien in the face if he3 doesn't get his way? Have a little class! He should also have a little common sense. If an Ottawa player slashes Eller tomorrow night the refs sympathy is now with Montreal. Had Cameron kept his mouth shut it would be with Ottawa.

  • Royzta - 9 years ago

Embellishment or not? How stupid can a player be, slashing an opponent in full view of a Ref.? Bench Subban indefinitely. Last Reg game he had 2 penalties in OT: slash & high stick. He's done it again in first Senator playoff game, got away with high stick (1stP), increased the intensity in 2ndP. Subban, in recent games has been on ice for > 50% goals against Habs, they'll do better without him. PKS, hardly displays the substance of a Norris contender. Nutter is the word. Dave Cameron could refrain from suggesting any form of retaliation. Get rid of the rabble and lets get on with high calibre playoff hockey

  • MomOfThree - 9 years ago

It was a deliberate slash, Subban choked up on his stick (look at how close his hands are together). Stone played with a micro-fractured wrist. He asked to keep playing... was receiving freezing in his wrist to keep playing... that kids got heart. Just another reason to be a proud Ottawa Senator Fan.

  • Barb - 9 years ago

Subban may have ended Stone's Playoff season with that vicious slash, but he also talked his way out of a penalty slashing his stick across Pageau's head last night. That's not hockey. That's right out deliberate cause for injury. I agree with a previous comment. With however long the injured is out, the person causing the injury should be out.
Play hockey guys....that we enjoy...not all the dirty plays....

  • Sean - 9 years ago

Give Subban the same amount of games as Eric Gryba got in 2013 when he ended Lars Eller's playoffs.

  • Doctor Cloud - 9 years ago

Subban should sit as long as Stone sits and I like Dave Cameron's comment whatever the league says

  • Rod Croskery - 9 years ago

If Subban wins the Norris Trophy after this slash, goonery is back in the NHL. Too bad.

    Sens' last twenty games: ballet

Last night's hit, and possibly the entire playoffs: murder

  • Will - 9 years ago

That wasn't a hockey play. It was a clear attempt to injure, and a suspension would be appropriate.
The previous poster seems to think that Stone must have been faking because he returned to the game. I'd say it's because Stone is pretty tough and persuaded the team staff that he could still play. That may not have been the wisest thing to do, but the guy's a gamer. Isn't that a quality we admire in hockey players?

  • don - 9 years ago

It should have been a 2 minute penalty, bad ref.,
Hammond better be better than the 2nd half of the game.
Stone you must practise with the soccer players and attend their drama class.
Why did you not stay off the ice for atleast 4mins.
