At last, a woman who thinks as I do and is honest. What a refreshing thought.
Mc Cain made a great choice.

  • Jennifer - 18 years ago

I beleive that for the first time in a long time that we have an honest, good person running for office! I have not felt this good concerning politics for a long time! She is AMERICA! She is what the UNITED STATES STANDS FOR! I wish she was running for President! MCCain has my vot 100%! HEY OBAMA......KEEP THE CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!

  • MONICA KANDRAT - CARNA - 18 years ago

BRILLIANT CHOICE SENATOR MCCAIN. I APPLAUD YOUR WISDOM IN CHOOSING THIS FINE RUNNING MATE. YOU CAN BE ASSURED THAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS FEELING ENERGIZED TONIGHT BY THIS "NOT BUSINESS AS USUAL" CANDIDATE!!!!!! GOD BLESS BOTH OF YOU!

  • Linda C. - 18 years ago

The fact that McCain's VP pick has a va-jay-jay is not enough to draw liberal-leaning Independents. Voters-- especially Hillary Clinton supporters-- will look at Palin's stand on the issues, not just her gender.

  • tony Vidal - 18 years ago

    absolutely brilliant

  • John - 18 years ago

a true maverick, mother, gritty reformer, tough as nails alaskan woman. when she got the call she was out hunting caribou!!!! tell me that is not the kind of person that will fight for the common man.

  • DSS - 18 years ago

She has more Executive experience than Obama!

  • Victoria - 18 years ago

Bravo for a politician (male OR female) that speaks of governing with "integrity" and a "servant's heart". THIS COUNTRY DESPERATELY NEEDS CHARACTER-BASED, INTEGRITY-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP, as well as those leaders who choose to run for office "FOR THE RIGHT REASONS"!!!! Bravo!!!

  • A Viewer - 18 years ago

Palin a heartbeat away from the presidency, is much better than Obama
with heart beat in the presidency. Obama is not qualified to run..
too bad for the Dems, who followed his empty candidacy.
    Palin has substance.

  • Beef Myers - 18 years ago

I am a conservative, and was fearful of Senator McCain's selection for VP. I was withholding support for the republican ticket pending his selection. I can now vote the republican ticket without holding my nose. Job well done, Senator McCain. Please hold Gov Palin's advice in high regard.

  • Lyla Fox - 18 years ago

Today I may know the euphoria black people experienced when after hundreds of years of being shut out, they were integrated into society. Sarah Palin is a woman like me and she now stands next to John McCain, as the vice-presidential nominee of the Republican party. To see myself, a wife, mother, career woman and person of faith--finally--is such a gift, and I'm so proud that John McCain has selected a bright, courageous, fair-minded and loving woman to run with him. Sarah Palin will find a place in the hearts and minds of most all Americans.

  • Rebecca Lindsey - 18 years ago

John Mc Cain just hit a home run! He made a very wise choice, not only because Sarah Palin is a woman. But we need a Vice President who does not cower down to our so called congress. And won't take a backseat to Nancy Pelosi. She is what this country has been needing to bring us back to life!

  • Goldie - 18 years ago

I am thrilled with the choice of Palin! The sexism of the Democratic party was unbelievable!

McCain is a man of integrity, and had my respect prior to this choice. I admire him even more today with this choice.

I look forward to Palin being shared with the country, Alaska has had her all to themselves long enough!

    Thank you, future President McCain!

  • Jane Owen - 18 years ago

Palin's selection is a HUGE coup for John McCain and the Republican Party. In one fell swoop he has neutralized whatever momentum Obama's speech made for the Dems and has cut into a significant block of women voters who supported Hillary Clinton. Whatever edge Obama had before, is gone with the wind!

  • ERIKA - 18 years ago

At first I was disappointed that it was not Romney, but after seeing her and listening to her, I was blown away. Smart, smart move Sen McCain, the Dems must be eating their hearts out.

  • isagobi - 18 years ago

I am thrilled! A breath of fresh air and definitely more credentials than Obama! Let's talk about CHANGE! I am finally excited about politics again.

  • Lynne Miller - 18 years ago

I come from a great history of Republicans and my great grandmother campaigned for Women's rights. I am not conservative but am so happy to have a reason to vote Republican. I think Gov Pelin is dynamic, capable and will rock the ticket!!!

  • Bonnie Tyler - 18 years ago

Governor Palin is the real deal. That would be refreshing for Washington. No agenda other than putting the people first. Novel thought for most politicians. McCain did himself a HUGE favor by choosing Gov. Palin for his running mate. Her speech was genuine, and another novel idea - no teleprompters. I LIKE HER A LOT! Finally someone new and not spoiled by the politics of Washington. Again, I LIKE HER A LOT.

  • Jill - 18 years ago

I supported Hillary and was planning on voting for McCain/against Obama as a protest vote. Now it looks like I have an even better reason for voting for McCain, the first woman vice president. Good for John McCain! and good for the country!

  • Adrian Sicardo - 18 years ago

One thing everyone fails to mention is the fact that Gov. Palin was the mayor of a city in Alaska of about 9000 residents, this is about the same number of votes that Sen Biden got in his presidential run.

  • miguel torres - 18 years ago

after hearing her speak she is aspiring with such intelligence!

  • hunter - Western PA - 18 years ago

And did I mention she can gut a Moose? The real deal. outside the beltway. future of the party. We who 'cling to our guns and religion' are pumped. This is where we need to go. Put her together in 2012 with Pawlenty and his "sams club republicans".

  • aida - 18 years ago

I may not agree with everyone of her positions but she is the epitome of what a modern woman should be. She sticks to her beliefs and at the same time I believe she is willing to look at all sides without bias. Good Job! Sen. McCain!

  • Chris Rea - 18 years ago

What a difference a day makes! Talk about a breath of fresh air! At last a natural leader with real life experience, beautiful, intelligent, bright, and true to the heart. No more complaints, stand up and be counted this incredible woman will bring the USA back from the brink of darkness.

  • Jane - 18 years ago

All of today's news about this woman told us about what a fantastic lady she is, especially in terms of her family. Unfortunately, none of that tells us what her real qualifications are. And McCain is no spring chicken... so what I want to know is what makes this woman ready to be commander in chief. Hopefully after all of the happy bio stuff wears off, we'll get some real info. Otherwise, I'm afraid she'll be as unattractive to the average Republican as Obama seems... charismatic, attractive and well-spoken, but an empty (pants)suit.

  • Sharon E. Zimmerman - 18 years ago

This choice of Governor Palin is simply fantastic, and the best news in sometime. Wonderful wonderful! She is simply everything we have been hoping for!

  • Suzanne - 18 years ago

Thank God, McCain is a maverick!! I too am a PTA mom, former City Council woman and know that this woman is more than capable of becoming Vice President of the United States. This ticket is really about real change and reform. Let the Dems rail against her. They only make our case that the Republicans and not the Democrats support women and change. They will change D.C.

  • Plain Jane - 18 years ago

I am so impressed. She is the courageous reformer sorely needed to help President McCain clean up the corruption in Washington.

I surely hope she will go to states and Congressional districts where the most corrupt members of Congress have been using our tax dollars as their own personal piggy banks for years. Let's finally throw the bums out!!

I sincerely hope and pray that this beautiful family of integrity does not get corrupted by Washington. My prayers are with them!

  • Nancy - 18 years ago

I heard Gov. Palin speak today and I just donated money to their campaign. I am excited.

  • Jill - 18 years ago

I supported Hillary and was planning on voting for McCain/against Obama as a protest vote. Now it looks like I have an even better reason for voting for McCain, the first woman vice president. Good for John McCain! and good for the country!

  • Karen - 18 years ago

Looks like she's an answer to a prayer! Looks like she will blend the old and the new - This announcement is something great that we Conservatives have been looking for.
Thanks, John McCain for this chance to reach a wider, younger group of voters. We will all work just that much harder to make it a successful run for the both of you and for all of us at the grassroot level.

  • Bill - 18 years ago

...and she is no doubt the most beautiful V.P we'll ever have:). I'm so happy finally the conservatives are being represented! Go john and sarah!!!!! go GOP!

  • BJ Meyer - 18 years ago

I was electrified when I saw McCain's choice for VP. She will put him over the top. Go - Palin!

  • Terry L ReevesHanger - 18 years ago

I haven't clapped at the TV in years. When she spoke today, I just sat and clapped. She is great!

  • Nancy - 18 years ago

HOORAY for McCain/Palin!! What a great team! We're SO excited in Charlotte, NC. They are what America needs. The future is looking up and looking great for all Americans. VOTE McCain/Palin!!! God Bless America!

  • Eleanore Dilello - 18 years ago

When I saw her and listened to her...I REALIZED This was a SLAM DUNK for the Republican Party. Congradulations Senator McCain...My husband & I weren't sure who we were going to vote for...We are now...Yeah McCain
More than anything..My friends and I are excited about this election for the first time...and we are going out to work for McCain & Palin.

  • Dan from MI - 18 years ago

I am very pleased with McCain's choice. The only equal or better choice would be Huckabee. With pro-life beliefs and a heart for the family, she has ensured my vote for McCain.

  • rick - 18 years ago

I was astonished to hear about Gov Palin's incredible accomplishments! WOW! McCain-Palin Ticket will rock! Gov Palin is simply wonderful and what makes her so is that she is NOT just another long term, do nothing, professional politician!

  • Nancy - 18 years ago

    Checkmate

  • Nancy Budds - 18 years ago

Sarah Palin has turn a frustrating, low interest campaign into maximum excitement. She is the real thing. She goes beyond party politics. I'm ecstatic.

  • Carolyn Dixon - 18 years ago

This is a great choice for republicans and for our country. What a breath of fresh air. liberals are just mad that they shunned the woman that they could win with so all they can do is attack this great gal.

as a mom of two adopted children, i can't say how emotional i became when she came out with her family and especially little Tig.

way to go John. I'm behind you now.

  • candi taylor - 18 years ago

Im fed up with the treatment of the Obama campaign toward democratic women! After watching the maltreatment of muslim women, and the pimping out of Ms.Clinton for votes, and the subsequent kicking her to the curb, I have come to know Obama's true colors. As of today I am voting McCain/Palin! You go girl!

  • Mick Frawley - 18 years ago

If this were poker, I believe Senator McCain would have just flopped the nuts.

  • Jane - 18 years ago

I am so happy about McCain's choice of VP. She seems like a very admirable woman. We are women hear us roar!!!

  • Fred - 18 years ago

Anyone else noticing, Sen. McCain actually holds to his word? I notice.

  • Michelle - 18 years ago

I watched the VP announcement today and was very impressed with Palin's speech. She appears to be a genuine person. As an independent and Hillary Clinton supporter I will happily vote for this ticket. I hope that the Dems keep dangling the abortion carrot in front of us women. We will only come to resent them even more. The media and the Obama campaign are again showing a lack of respect for Palins experience. Who is Obama to talk?

  • Shefali - 18 years ago

I tried to vote in the poll and am not sure it went through, so - I think she will bring over Dem women. I was planning to vote for McCain anyway, but by picking Palin, he won my enthusiasm and monetary support. I really am jazzed about Palin. She's a strong conservative woman. She's a role model for girls. She tackled tough issues in Alaska and took on the "good old boys". She is also pro-family and pro-life and that's important to me. I think she'll be fabulous for the GOP and will give McCain the edge he needs to win. YEAH!!!!

  • Susan in Texas - 18 years ago

Wow...this woman is everything I want to be! This is a very exciting time for America. I can't wait to see this great lady in action! I'm greatly inspired in so many ways! McCain Palin 2008

  • SUSAN TAYLOR - 18 years ago

I'm a Democratic woman who backed Hillary to the end. I understand why she did what she had to do, but the Chicago-Mafia-obama is now the kind of the party...Palin is a brilliant choice...I don't agree with her on many issues, but I respect her integrity and commitment to public service, not personal self-aggrandisement (obama)
    yellow-dog Democrat for McCain

  • CURT AND BONNIE LANCASTER - 18 years ago

With the addition of Gov. Palin on the McCain ticket, this will be no doubt the best political team ever. We are casting our votes for McCain/Palin this November!

  • Ingrid - 18 years ago

I am a lifelong democratic woman. I was a Hillary Clinton supporter, and did give Obama a look. However, after hearing Vice Presidential candidate Palin, someone I can completely identify with, I am voting republican for the first time. Ever. I have never heard anybody so eloquent, intelligent, down to earth and she did not once use dirty politics or negativity to describe her opponents. She strikes me as someone with integrity. That is what we need in the White House.

  • John B Moretti - 18 years ago

Gov. Sarah Palin has already shown more dignity to the ticket that it will be impossible to debunk her tenacity and experience. The Obama campaign must now be pondering how to save face and continue knowing they are up agianst a dynamic duo that will undoubtedly win this race. Kudos to Senator John McCain and kudos to America for embracing a viable candidate for VP on the Republican ticket. Now that is 'Change".

  • T - 18 years ago

"What impact will Governor Palin have on the election? "

The pick of Sarah Palin has been a successful impact upon the election because it has energized the conservative base.

  • Troy - 18 years ago

Palin rocks! McCain and Palin together... thats the ticket!

  • Florida Independent - 18 years ago

This choice as VP definitely got my attention. I am a huge supporter of Hillary Clinton, and this move by Senator McCain definitely won me over. Nothing Senator Obama did won me over, in fact his decision to disrepect and pass over one of the most qualified women in America further solidified my choice not to vote for him. I will be voting for John McCain. In no way would I EVER have previously voted Republican, yet his choice of this admirable and accomplished woman has changed my mind about him.

  • Sandie Howard - 18 years ago

Bravo McCain! What a great choice for VP and after listening to her I hope he copies some of her talking points and the way she delivers a speech! I was not happy as a Republican voting for McCain but couldn't ever vote for 'empty
suit' Obama. Now I'm excited about the McCain/Palin ticket and just love how we shoved Obama's speech out of the headlines. Thanks!

  • Jim - 18 years ago

I could not be more pleased to have two remarkable people represent my interests. This very competent, courageous woman spoke from her heart without a teleprompter. She will help solidify the support we need to make the "proper" changes in our government. God Bless America.

  • cynthia - 18 years ago

She's someone that no one expected or even was barely looking for.....BUT.....she's got EVERYTHING that people are looking for! I've been reading on many political web sites tonight (both conservative and liberal) and she is someone to be noticed. Clear Politics site, even had an article dated June 2008, where they thought she would be an asset to John McCain.

People should not lose sight that John McCain is 'his own person' and it looks like he selected the same in his new female counterpart.

    Fired up in Texas!

  • David Sobota - 18 years ago

Finally, a breathe of fresh air in politics. Go Sarah and congratulations to John McCain on picking an excellent running mate.

  • Pam Tharp - 18 years ago

    Hey there, Dems! GOTCHA!!!!!!!!

  • Jim - 18 years ago

I am ecstatic. This Vice President nominee should "seal the deal." Other than my governor Bobby Jindal, this conservative lady is the best possible choice.

  • Lisa - 18 years ago

She is awesome! What a great surprise! I am proud and entusiastic to vote for John McCain with this choice. Finally, a smart, smart decision by a politician. Can't wait to see the polls tomorrow. Love her! What woman wouldn't?

  • Karen - 18 years ago

This woman is awesome. I am thrilled that John McCain selected her to be his running mate. What a stroke of genius and how lucky we are as Americans to have such a great team running for the highest office. I was moved and actually clapped listening to her speech.

  • Gina Myers - 18 years ago

I am a woman but I don't vote for a candidate based on whether they are male or female. I vote for them based on the issues. She is conservative and sooooooooo confident and what a great speaker! I am proud to be a Republican right now. I don't think it matters that she is female but that she is a fantastic addition to the ticket.

  • Maureen - 18 years ago

Just earned my democratic vote! What a great choice!

  • Terrie - 18 years ago

This afternoon I had NO idea who she was. I have listened to reports about her past political achievements and now i am EXCITED!!!!! McCain made the RIGHT choice! She seems to be a tough cookie and i LOVE THAT!!!!!!

  • Randal - 18 years ago

This was a brilliant choice for VP. It is about time a women was on the Republican ticket.

  • KAMry - 18 years ago

I think she's the best thing that could have happened. I've been extremely worried about the state of our nation and the upcoming election. Today I am elated, can hardly contain my excitement. I'm digging out my own flag pin - just like the one she's wearing in her speech - and wearing it starting tomorrow! If I'm going to vote for a women - It HAS to be one I'm proud of.

I made a joking remark months ago - after I saw her on Glen Beck program about running her for president - never in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen. I'm elated.

  • Kim - 18 years ago

I am proud to be an american today......I am proud of John McCain and I am proud of his Vice President choice.

  • Janice - 18 years ago

I was going to vote for Hillary had she been the nominee. I love the spunk of Sarah Palin. McCain has my vote. A gal who cleans her own fish can't be all bad. You go girl!

Actually, I think she is more qualified than the men! Palin for President!

  • John - 18 years ago

    I'm in love!

  • Mari - 18 years ago

I never heard of her before but she is a fantastic speaker, energetic and very
intelligent and I must say very grounded and real. A refreshing change from
the politicians running in this election.

  • Tammy - 18 years ago

I believe that this is the best decision McCain has made, yet. This clinched my vote to vote for McCain in Nov. Her morals and ability to get things done is refreshing. Also knowing that she is a regular ordinary woman who happens to be in politics. She knows the small town America and I believe she was genuine in her speech today. I believe she will do a GREAT job as a VP. This has got me excited for the first time in this election. Kudos to McCain.

  • Gary Humphries - 18 years ago

Absolutely refreshing to see her. I was thrilled at Sen. McCain's choice. Happy Birthday today, Sen. McCain. Congratulations Sarah Palin. Reform in Washington, I hope starts with Nancy Pelosi and her sidekick she has so much stock in, T. Boone Pickens. Drat those 2 for holding Americans hostage with gas...we know who the 'speculators' are?

  • Jeannie - 18 years ago

As a working grandmother, who has voted democrat all my life...I will vote Republican in November! Thank you Greta and Fox news for telling it unbiased. I have listened, read, studied and their is no doubt. It's not the party anymore...it is who is BEST for the job finally!

  • Carol Cain - 18 years ago

Finally, someone who can keep up with McCain! Forget Obama, he just lost. This woman is an asset to the country, forget parties. Her speech was well spoken, tough, meanful to her therefore she means it. I was impressed and excited - I was expecting more of the same ol same ol from yet another campaign. Way to go McCain!

  • Richard - 18 years ago

Watch the Obama machine and the mainstream media try to derail another competent, qualified woman.
