My wife and I have always cancelled each others vote for as far back as Kennedy. I feel now that McCain's decision to make Gov Palin his VP will not only keep me a Republican but will move my wife who was on the fence from the Democractic side to the Republican side. This decision gives me a Great Deal of Pride to be a Republican. Great Decision!

I am a male registered as an independent. I would vote for anyone with her record, heart and spirit. The fact she is a woman is the icing on the cake. She has my vote locked up, safe and sound!
Mary - 18 years ago
As a Independent voter, I was so frustrated, and tearful to try and find something that I would like about Obama, and why so many people were amored by him and I was not.
When I heard Sarah Palin this morning, I cried so hard out of happiness that here is strong Mountain woman, like myself, and she talked from her heart and soul.
When she talked about McCain being a profile in courage, I knew I had something to strive for in this wonderful country of ours.
McCain would put his country first before himself.
BRAVO!!!

SP is M. Thatcher and RR with ovaries, no testicles needed. Mother bear protecting her cubs (america). D. Morris said it best when he stated "I melted with respect" concerning her CHOICE to bring a beautiful life into the world that she knew would have down syndrom. Blessing come in many ways. What does that say about her character? Right or left we all know, don't we. We all know, being intellectually honest, how our gvmt spends OUR taxes for BS and we have two citizens who say ENOUGH! Vote for these two and HOLD THEM to the ideals we all have for our beloved nation. GOD Bless and GOD speed their endevour!

I have admired many women who have governed countries. After hearing Gov. Palin speak I think she could enter the ranks of great women as a future president of America and world leader.
Peoria, Illinois Obama's state not by my vote.

I debated with my sister earlier today who is for Obama. She could not believe it when I told her that I may not be voting for the first time in my life because I was not passionate about either presidential candidate, that is until later today. This evening, I had the opportunity to hear Gov Palin's inspiring and compelling speech replayed on FOX and for the first time during this campaign believe I want to vote after all. Kudos to Gov. Palin for restoring my desire to vote in this election!!!!!!! McCain did well in selecting the best possible V.P. candidate.

This is GREAT!! Myself & Everyone I know was so happy to hear about Sarah, I don't know her but I listened to Fox all day & she's got my vote..

Am I thrilled to see a woman chosen as VP pick to run with McCain? Yes! HOWEVER, as a woman, it's offensive to me, that so many are willing to vote one way or another just because of gender. What excites me most are her qualities; signs of brilliance, level of governing knowledge, authenticity and moral characture which all of Americans can and should relate to! I am a non-partisan gay woman and because our country's security and economy are top on my list, I will vote McCain/Palin!

This is two of the best that has ever come together for our country. let's pray ebery day for them.
I feel energized after watching her acceptance speech this morning. I have been complacent until now. This was the boost I needed. I'll now do everything I can to help this team get elected. Not qualified? What a laugh that is, it will be interesting to see how the "messiah" handles this new developement........... Don't mess with this lady, she can handle herself and I think that worries them greatly.... Hopefully, this will give all of us true Americans a breathe of fresh air. We need it!

I couldn't be more proud as a republican today (except maybe when Ronald Regan won his second term).
Just when you think it's going to be more of the same old thing the Republicans finally came up with a real ticket. I am in awe. I can't believe somebody was actually listening to the american people!
Sarah Palin is a real american. She is a working mom, hard nosed govenor and knows exactly the challenges the american people face day after day.
How refreshing! A politican that doesn't owe anyone anything! I can hardly fathom the thought.
And here we have a presidental candiate who has bucked the political machine his entire career and now we have vice president candidate that has done the same and did some pretty fine house cleaning herself in Alaska. That's exactly what the the House and Senate need . . . House cleaning! All our government is way too big and way too wasteful. Can you imagine what our government could look like in 4 years with a whole lot of house cleaning?
Our politicans do need to be reminded that they work for us. Can you imagine corporate America working like the government does??? They sure wouldn't be in business too long.
And it's time we run our government like a business. It's time to cut the pork once and for all and get down to the issues that mean the most to Americans.
I want my tax dollars to be spent 1)to keep our country safe 2)let private industry fuel the economy 3)give all Americans the opportunity to have access to good healthcare (notice, I said have access to; not to be given by the government) 4)keep our commitment to our soldiers and lastly 5)to help those that can't help themselves.
Government should provide essential services. Anything else is not necessary and it's time a real person is going to be in the position to decide what is essential and what is pork.
This is going to be THE most exciting election in my lifetime. And I'm darned proud to call myself a republican tonight.
Thank you John McCain!!!!!

Governor Palin, next to John McCain is the best true Republican Party fighter / Reformer / Ignator for our party and all women's rights, and the Country should recognize that she will truely not only unite the Republican Party but also the rights and respect for women the United States.
What a great choice.
Thank you Mr. McCain for selecting a true American Hero who unlike Mrs Obama, and other Democrat selections, truly loves America, and what America stands stands for.

Wow these comments are so fake:
As a black gay female liberal, Ill be crossing parties and voting republican for the first time ever!!! All thanks to McCains great pick of S Palin!
I am a Democrat (an angry and confused one!). Until today, I had decided not to vote for the first time in my adult life. I've been hearing rumblings all day about McCain's pick for Vice President and I thought...."well, another nobody". After hearing her speech tonight, I'm excited. I never thought in a million years that I could vote for a Republican, but I'm really thinking now. I am somewhat liberal and don't want any more conservative Surpreme Court justices appointed and I am Pro Choice. So there's my delimina in a bundle. I have lot of thinking to do! OBAMA WAS STUPID FOR NOT PUTTING CLINTON ON THE TICKET WITH HIM. WHETHER I DECIDE TO VOTE OR NOT, I HOPE HE PAYS THE PRICE!
John - 18 years ago
This is GREAT!!!!
Now if we can get 534 more like her to replace everyone else in the white house maybe we can restore constitutional order!
Jillie - 18 years ago
I agree with Corrine who wrote in. I think it is great that McCain had balls to pick a woman and someone different. All for it. I think Obama is a disaster waiting to happen. Totally clueless about the real people.
I hope America wakes up and picks the right team. Yea McCain!!
Natalie - 18 years ago
She is perfect for the republican ticket. Shows how naive they are to assume any dumb a-- women can replace Hilary and all of us will follow them to the poll. Hilary is a Yale educated woman who has been a leader in the senate and has proven her worth many times over. Her heir apparent per the republicans is a gun shooting, anti-arbortion governor of a state for 2 years. As a woman I now know what the republicans think about me. The 18 million votes that Hilary received will not go to an ex beauty queen/hockey mom. A four year degree in Journalism does not qualify one to become 2nd in line for President of the United States
Kae - 18 years ago
Did anyone notice Sarah saying that the candidates "need to have the heart of a servant?" Wow! She is so refreshing, down-to-earth and genuine. Please let us hear more of her position on the issues. She hasn't been identified as any religion except "Christian", but she sounds like she could be a Baptist. Great selection.
A Governor for only 1.5 years of a State with less population than Detroit Michigan? And she could be President given McCain's age. Obama wins!!!

What difference will Governor Sarah Palin make in this campaign? Everything! While I always planned to vote for McCain, now I plan to get out and WORK for the ticket. She MOTIVATES me and I am so proud to have someone who truly represents me and all the Republican women across the country. She has cross-over appeal for voters who are still sitting on the fence. If this first big decision that Sentaor McCain has made is indicative of his leadership, courage and vision then I think we have a fantastic four years ahead of us...and hopefully another eight with President Palin after that!

I like the choice I have now..McCain and Palin. Finally a strong team that I can respect and trust. Too bad Obama didn't see the light with Hillary. I am
crossing over to vote for the man who has sense and selected a strong woman
to complement his strengths!
Matt - 18 years ago
Its amazing that the right wing will vote the most unqualified candidate in to office based merely on a cultural litmus test. This is exactly what gave us the Bush administration, voting the president in on "like-ability."
She is completely unqualified to handle the economy and american foreign policy.
She will alienate independent voters, such as myself, because she brings absolutely nothing to the table. She has no applicable experience and is only an ideologue. Our fascination with her will be brief and her lack of any substantive qualifications will soon become apparent.
abunaiyo - 18 years ago
I am so proud that there are women of her conviction.
I believe that the Democrats are now fearful and have resulted to demeaning women. This will redown on them come November 4th. They better be careful because millions of us women are listening and taking notes. Even Larry King tries very hard to show neutrality but he is pounding on Gov. Palin's experience. I never thought bad or negative towards Begala, Now, I do not like him. Begala is so condescending. Because of pride Obama did not choose Hillary. Doesn't he know that PRIDE GOETH BEFORE DESTRUCTION! If Obama truly wanted to be the President, he should have chosen Hillary. I was a republican but I was willing to cross the line and vote for Hillary.
Dennis W. Berman - 18 years ago
This woman will "crush" the strategy fo the Democratic Party. This choice by Mr. John McCain will offset the "hoopla" of Obmana (I hate America) as the "first Hawian" man eleced to the Presidential Election. This woman is what Democrats profess a woman should be. There is no disputing her "qualifiacations" as a leader. She is an independent (woman's lib) woman, a mother, and a fierce competitor. She as a history of geting something done, unlike Obama who has done absolutely nothing except be "groomed" by the Democrats to be an "electable" (with no history) candidate. This election is over!!!!

I think she is not qualified be the VP. She's only been Governor for 20 months... I think it is a bad move for McAin't . Sorry, but she's not gonna do anything for his chances in Nov... Obama All The Way.
James - 18 years ago
You jackasses. The Media picked BOTH your candidates, McCain and Obama. It doesn't matter who you pick, it's an ILLUSION of choice. You can't trust the earliest comments on these polls either; they're made by the people who set up the poll an had the first opportunity to respond. These polls don't reflect the thousands of emails all indicating Palin is a boneheaded desperate political panic move, and she's less experienced than Obama. And "she's a woman" isn't a reason to elect her president you morons.
If you have a brain, write in RON PAUL.
Samantha in Virginia - 18 years ago
That should be "thanks, but no thanks". Hard to type when you're seeing red from watching hour upon hour of ridiculous sexism and sensationalism that a woman's been chosen as VP. It speaks volumes to the state of this country that it's news. For myself and millions of other Democratic voters (both men AND women - imagine this: we can choose based on *issues* not something so shallow and insulting as gender), it will NOT be a deciding factor.
Sue Reilly - 18 years ago
I am so excited about Sarah being chosen I can't stand it :-) I have talked with more women and "men" and they too share my excitement. I even spoke with a woman this morning who hated to choose either Dem or Rep this election, but when she found out about Sarah she said the decision has been made for her REPUBLICAN of course. :-) Go for the gold John and Sarah!! What a ticket! What leaders you will be!!
jrd - 18 years ago
After checking out both candidates this year, I just felt so ambivalent. Initially I thought I'd switch and vote democrat, but in looking at the democrat ticket and checking out the candidate's statements and history - for the first time ever I wasn't going to vote at all.
I really want a team that can heal our economic problems, because that is the foundation for all other projects. If Palin checks out, then it is enough to keep me on the Republican team I've grown so distrusting of. She might bring in the magic we haven't seen for a long time. Good move, McCain.
John - 18 years ago
I think Gov. Palin is the right choice as Sen. McCain's running mate. She believes in government less spending, believes integrity of the government, a true conservative.

Greta......How can Gov. Palin possibly be a draw for women democratic votes, who primarily voted for Hilary, when Gov. Palin has such an openness to teaching creationism in the public schools? The Hiliary female base will in no way be supportive of Palin!

MY WIFE HAS NOT VOTED FOR PRESIDENT IN THE LAST 3 ELECTIONS. TODAY SHE ASKED ME TO MAKE SURE THAT SHE IS STILL REGISTERED TO VOTE. AND THEN ASKED ME TO TAKE HER TO REGISTER IF NEEDED. The fact that he has nominated a woman does not mean that the 18 million voters that supported Senator Clinton will support a woman who does not share the same values of the democratic platform. I can not believe of the thousand of republicans out there , she was the most qualified.
Norma Lloyd - 18 years ago
I could not be more excited! I was a strong supporter for Hillary and greatly dissapointed in Obama's choice. As a professional woman, a professor, it is time for a woman to hold a position in the highest office of our country! Sarah has an amazing record in her short time in office, a strong ability to attract everyday Americans, and frankly I think she would be just fine answering that phone at 3am. Norma

I'm a proud West Virginia democrat who is going to vote McCain/Palin for President/VP. I was uncertian until today. It was my intention to support Hillary simply because this country needs to overcome business as usual in Washington, and only a strong female leader can do this in my view. I'm so proud I will see a minority elevated to either President or VP in this election. God Bless America.
Walter Volland - 18 years ago
Gov Palin is a terrific choice. What a wonderful person. She has been to Iraq twice, she has successfully fought corruption, she has extracted revenue from big oil to give back $1200 to every man, woman and child in Alaska.
The bonus is that she went to the University of Idaho and not a big name Ivy League school.
She is a real American.
Samantha in Virginia - 18 years ago
It is absurd to think that Palin will draw Democratic women, and utterly insulting to even suggest it! She is anti choice, even in the case of incest and rape, is hopelessly unprepared to run this country and deal with paramount international relations and diplomacy should something happen to the aged and infirm McCain, and blatantly lied about her stance on the "bridge to nowhere" during her speech... all this in addition to her being under investigation for abuse of power and being just another extension of Bush that will leave big oil still running the country.
I am disgusted that Fox News thinks so little of American women that they assume they would vote based on gender rather than issues. Absolutely disgusted... this country has been in reverse for 8 years. Enough!!
Thanks, but not thanks indeed.

Good Job McCain!!!!!
Debbie - 18 years ago
I am so surprised and thrilled Senator McCain had the courage to do what Senator Obama did not. He chose a woman to run on the ticket with him. She is honest and has executive experience. She is willing to stand up to corruption. This was a wise choice by McCain. As a former elected official in the city of Ontario California I know how hard it is to stand up to the "good old boys". I was the third woman to be elected in my hometown in 104 years. I am really pleased with this choice.

I couldn't be happier with the McCain/Palin ticket. Please allow me to describe the American dream. I just turned 76, and although a retired engineer from a fascinating career, I am still very active both mentally and physically. A good days work is still a source of pride for me and I enjoy every moment with some occasional time off to spend with my lovely wife of 51 years. I am also surrounded by two daughters, their well- chosen husbands and four beautiful and loving grandchildren ranging in age from 9 to 13 in 3 (in adjacent homes on four wooded acres in what I can only describe as Paradise). What more can an American of poor Czechoslovak immigrants want? My mother was a cleaning woman and my father worked in a NY sweat shop all his working life, getting paid by the "piece" for sewing zippers into mens' pants. With this working class background it was understandable that I supported Henry Wallace (American Labor Party) in 1944 while in high school, and registered as a Democrat at age 18. but I voted for Ike in the first election I had the privelege to vote in. I worked my way through engineering school, graduated with a 2nd Lieutenant's commission and served for over 16 months in Korea in charge of putting together a functioning electrical system for the 7th Division. By 1961 I had earned my Masters and then studied toward a Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from Brooklyn Poly. From that point on after voting mostly (but not always) for Republicans, including GB, Sr. and WJC, I changed my registration to Independent and voted for GWB, whom I believe, like Ronald Reagan before him, will go down in history as one of our greatest presidents because he stuck to his convictions even though he suffered in popularity -- he has always done what he thinks is right. Initially I had doubts about John McCain, but after researching his career and dedication to America I realized that he would be the best choice to lead this country. And when he chose Sarah Palin for his running mate I believe he clinched the election. Although I am well up on both national and world events (I read American as well as foreign newspapers -- thank God for internet) and have traveled extensively to over 50 countries while enjoying immersions in foreign cultures -- my wife and I are still both quite fluent in Czech and have, due to our travels, developed working knowledge (but not limited to) the French and German language). I have never been more interested in American politics, observing now that we have the choice of two very diverse candidates. Obama has been classified as a celebrity and so he is, with the eloquence of speech that few have, but his arrogance and ignorance show in his body language. I am certainly not a racist and would have gladly voted for Colin Powell and Condoleeza Ricel, so I feel quite justified in questioning Obama's patriotism, not because of his race, but because of his past "adventures" with the likes of Reverend Wright, the terrorist Bill Ayres, and the priest that supports him while displaying a degree of disgrace that is only outweighed, respectively, by the previously-named spiritual advisor and friend. The fact that he is inexperienced is not a factor, in my judgement, just as it is not also a factor in my delight in seeing Sarah Palin as John McCain's choice. And I predict that because of his advanced age and true patriotism, he will step aside in four years to allow Governor Palin to become the first woman president of the United States. By then, standing by his side, representing the working class such as most Americans, myself included, she will be ready for the greatest job in the world. And should the good Lord decide on an earlier "retirement" for John, Sarah has the credentials, well demonstrated by her past dedication and achievelments, that will permit her to take the helm even as she maintains her solid integrity and independent attitude that only adds to John McCain's "mavericity".

S. Palin is a fast learner so I'm sure she is, at this very moment, burning the midnight oil to come up to speed on foreign affairs, the economy, health care and the ways of Washington. Since no one dies in a heart beat from recurrent melanoma she has time to get up to speed. I'm sure Biden isn't looking forward to his debate with "the barracuda."

As a highly educated, six figure salary female as are many of my friends, including male, Senator Clinton will always be our HERO!!!.

WOW! This is great. I am a black conservative woman and was a McCain supporter before today. This is a great day for women. I am so glad and excited that the Senator has the courage and good judgement to pick Gov. Sarah Palin. She is a reformer and is a Washington outsider, and got into elective office to reform government. What she is doing with reform in Alaska is what I want to see in Washington and Illinois. She is actually someone who has made changes she said she would when she was elected. With this pick I have renewed hope for integrity and true public service to be reborn in our government.

Thats what McCain expected (don't care what you stand for as long as it's a woman) from women voters and I would not have believed it until I saw it. If you were so passionate about Hillary how could you make the leap? They are not even on the same page?

as a liberal i couldn't be happier. McCain's advisors just made their biggest mistake so far.
note i say his advisors since at 72 it's all he can do to stay awake, much less choose a VP.

This is very exiting. I listened to her speach and her accomplishments, what a great woman and awesome choice as a VP. John McCain you reassured my faith in the republican party and the american dream. I left Germany 25 years ago and became a proud US citizen by choice. I had for a moment lost faith in our current republican party, SEN McCain you have changed that. You have my support and my vote. Congratulations on a great choice.
For you all Dem take a good look at the conditions in europe/germany, high taxes, high un employment 15%, extremely high cost of living and yes about $9.00 per gallon gas, declining benefits, This is what liberal, socialized goverment had done to a beautiful and once proud country such as Germany. Take a good look and remember that socialism is the beginning of communism, do you really want that for our country, you will get it with Obama.
No way no how, no Obama, we have a much better choice. McCain/

Excited is an understatement as to how I feel about the republican ticket.....now. I thought this election would be the same good old boys duking it out....now we have a champion for the people in Sarah...I hope Washington does not make her lose sight of where she came from and become as corrupted as the rest of the bums in DC. And the PUNDITS......please, don't you think a person of integrity, intelligence, and incorruptible values can be selected by McCain and wasn't picked just because she's a woman? I think their cynicism is remarkable........Hang in there Sarah and don't let the bums get the best of you!

Wow... I am shocked at this choice! All this time, McCain has been selling me on experience. Then he chooses this woman who seems to be a very nice lady, but doesn't have any experience in Washington at all. He needed someone who could help him with the economy. Not the VP candidate I expected. He is up in age like me and I can't imagine her running this country if something happens to him. I am an independent who is more right than left. To me, this choice is clearly a pander for the women that were for Hillary, but we are not fooled. He has only met with her 1 or 2 times! He should have selected someone to be with him to run this country, not JUST to win an election.

I am soooo elated that this grandmother was shouting out loud and jumping around the house when I discovered she was the VP choice. I was aware of Sara Palin, as I had heard her TV interview with Glen Beck and got excited about her wisdom, knowledge, and many great accomplishments as governor. When I heard her talking about setting up an oil/gas pipeline and drilling for oil along our coast to free the USA from foreign oil and from funding the regimes that hate us, I thought to myself, "I wish we could have someone like her running our government as President or VP." This is a WELL-Qualified woman!!! (don't let the spin-meisters fool you into thinking she doesn't have the experience). She's already curtailed wastefull government spending and sold the governor's private jet on e-bay, giving the money back to the people of Alaska. She said no to having her own chef and driving around in limousines, saving the tax-payers thousands. She turned down federal money and stopped the Bridge to Nowhere, saying, "If we want a bridge, we'll build it ourselves." She's a rare person in politics whose "not on the take" financially. Instead, she's looking for ways that she and the state of Alaska she governs can contribute even more to our nation. As governor, she's gone after corrupt members of her own party, and the other party as well, and taken them down. She's a real go-getter, is focused, effective, and knows how to get things done. Her list of accomplishments and her genuine sincerity, integrity, and down-to-earth wisdom and courage far out-shine Barak, Biden, and so many others. I could not be more pleased!!!!! John McCain and Sara Palin have my vote! You can tell that the liberal media is mad, jealous, and scared by all the immediate attacks they threw her way. THIS SMACKS OF SEXISM. They have never mentioned how woefully inexperienced Barak Obama is, but Hillary and Biden both have mentioned it. The criticisms leveled at Sara Palin would never be leveled against a man or a black person. I think the liberal media's put-downs of this highly qualified woman further exposes the sexism and undemocratic means used to select the democratic candidate. Let's get behind this woman and break the glass ceiling!! Hooray for John McCain's insight and courage in choosing a will-qualified and inspiring American hero!

I've been hoping for a quality conservative woman for McCain's vp pick. I couldn't be happier!! Great job McCain!!! McCain and Palin will represent real America not the America the liberal media tries to shove down our throats.

Steve L., please don't worry your pretty little head over Sarah. It will be our military who kicks the enemy's butts. As their Commander in Chief, she will make the right decisions. She already has made countless good decisions in Alaska. I know. I live here.

Hey DAVE MC I would like some answers too where to pose the question that will get the looks. I don't think he is african american either. I think he is the devil in disguise.

I was a Hillary supporter and after hearing of McCain choice of VP, I will now vote for the Republican Party ( first time in my life) I am so thrilled and excited about Sarah Palin!!!!! Good job McCain, Good Bye Hussein Obama.

If there was an election about to happen, to elect an inmate President, in a large federal prison, who do you think would probably be elected? It would more than likely be the most heinous criminal in the prison.
That is where I thought this Presidential election was going, until Sarah was nominated McCain's vice presidential candidate. I am beside myself happy with Sarah, as McCain's choice. I was beginning to think there was no God. I sure hope this will help get rid of Nancy Polosi. She is the worse thing that has ever happened to our congress. She needs to go back to her corrupt, demonic San Francisco.

Great Choice for the VP nomination on the Republican ticket. Sarah Palin, as Governor of Alaska brings more executive experience to the VP slot than Obama does in the Presidential spot. When we talk about a "change" candidate, it's truly Sarah Palin. She 'changed" business as usual in Alaska by running against the incumbent, corrupt Republican governor in the primaries and won! She has as 83% approval rating in Alaska. She has vetoed over 300 special interest legislation and has the integrity and hard-worker, middle-class American values that has long disappeared on Capitol Hill. As governor, she felt that a private jet was a waste of the taxpayer money and put it up on e-bay for sale. Unlike Obama, the patriotic American(?) who spent $500,000 overhauling his private 757 and removed the American Flag off the tail, replacing it with a symbol of himself. What American running for President of the USA would remove the symbol of his country?? With Sarah Palin on the Repbublican ticket, it seems we have a chance to move back to what America once was -honest politics with the premise of "Country First," and representing voters with a "Servant's heart." Naturally, the Democrats are trying to slur her with the "investigation" into allegedly having her brother-in-law removed from the poice force. They forget to mention that Sarah Palin said she welcomes the investigation-bring it on! No shy-violet, she - I can't wait to hear her debate with"Joey" Biden. You know, the "Scrappy kid from Scranton" who in his run for President, called it on the money about Obama, when he said, "I don't believe he is [ready]. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job-training." What a pick as a VP from the "Candidate of Change" - a 30 year veteran of old, Washington Politics, as usual. And where do think the Biden/Obama team was today? In Pittsburgh, trying to woo and mesmerize the Pennsylvania voters into forgetting Obama's denegrating remarks about Pennsylvanians, all. He did not distinquish between Democrats, Republicans or Independents when he remarked (never believing his words would be repeated by the media) about the bitter, angry Pennsylvanians who cling to their religion and guns.. and they think the decent folks of PA can be fooled by calling Biden the "Scrappy kid from Scranton," when the Biden family kissed Pennsylvania good-bye for Ohio, when Joe was 10 years old. The better moniker for Joe Biden would be "the Overblown Orator from Ohio." Obama needs PA in his quest to win the election. Any voter in PA, whatever their party affiliation should remember what Obama really thinks about the home of the Liberty Bell and the first White House and just say "NO," on November 4th! He isn't going to get a chance to insult me twice or any other Pennsylvanian with pride in who they are. What a coupe for historical politics in Palin. Does anyone, except Oprah Winfrey, who cried her mascara off, remember Obama's speech other than some stolen sentences from JFK's "New Frontier" speech? Smoke (literally) and mirrors, and this time, with Greek columns. Same old over-the-top backdrops, hoping that razzle-dazzle will distract the viewer from his flowery, verbose, no-substance orations that still haven't answered what his agenda as President would be other that raising taxes, downsizing our military and having us inflate our car tires in lieu of drilling for oil, while we wait 20 years for alternative energy to come to fruition. We need all forms of alternative energy, and we have to start with being independent of foreign oil not to mention the $700billion that will leave our country. We can't afford Obama- Politics if we want America to survive and remain a free and sovereign Republican.

I believe that this was an excellent choice. I feel as if she is a real woman. Here are some examples for my decision. She is a woman who stands for her beliefs. She is a hard working mother. She didn't abort her down syndrome baby (this will be another reason), she is honest!!! she has a son in the military and she has more experience than Obama. She was willing to take care of a child that would be different than other children and struggle with what comes with a child like this. That is brave! Also, with this child will come a good healthcare system out there. With as many children as she has why wouldn't she understand how difficult healthcare can be for raising a family. When you have a man (Obama) saying one thing and changing his mind when it makes him look bad. Or when you have him get rid of "friends" because they are bad for his campaign, why would you want to vote for that. If you can trust a liar then vote for him. McCain was in the military, in politics before Obama was and has a genuine concern and love for his country and fellow military personnel. And yes Obama's wife is very much anti-american. She recanted what she said but if she didn't mean it she wouldn't have said what she said. It is a shame that politics isn't far from the Reese Witherspoon's movie where politicians will do anything they can to win rather than doing what is best for our country and world. Let's wise up and make a good decision not a biased one.

The democratic party left me....and I left the democrat party this year....The dems only have special leftist interest in mind...Palin is REAL. ob and biden are cheap......they have sold out, dishonest, and not looking out for the real american......She is super....I am more excited about voting for McCain than ever before....Excellent choice McCain
It appears you Americans are making potentially protest votes rather than policy. Lack of experience has been the excuse however, Obama is over flowing with 'people experience' which is more important than ever since the whole process is about governing the masses.
Moreover, I know Obama has the the love of the International Community which will afford for a more effective and condusive relationship with the U.S.
However, by November the protest would have waned and President Obama will triumph home to the Whitehouse.

I hope Sarah is the Future of the GOP (Girls Over Politics)
I was so excited i was in tears for almost an hour.

steve L. Add up Obamas time in the senate plus all his "present "votes in the state Legislature plus all the time" community organizing "(Things are worse now than before) mix in all the time he has spent running for President and sprinkle all the times with his Thug Chicago friends and you have an empty suit. Don't forget to garnish with an ungrateful, unpatriotic , fake wife!!
As so many commentaries ahead of me, I ALSO now feel energized! For several years I have been wistfully waiting for someone in the United States to come along and give us what we need. I wasn't necessarily looking for a woman. In fact, after watching Hillary and Nancy all these years, I was nearly convinced there wasn't a woman out there that thinks as I do yet still had the gumption to run but with grace. And then along comes Sarah. You go, girl! You have grit. You know how to speak. Clear English, to boot!!!!! Your delivery is exceptional. Barak Obama is an orator but YOU appear to be the REAL DEAL. Anything people are thinking you are short on expertise in is going to be handily learned by a woman as apt as you. By the time 8 years rolls around and John McCain has been our President, you will be more than capable of stepping into that position. To those who badger with the question, "Are you ready from Day One?", I say, "Yahoo, Yeaaaa! You bet the USA.!" Every President has their Advisory Team on hand for every segment of daily duties as needed. You will always be well advised; and Lady Palin, you can answer the phone for us at 3:00am ANY day!

PANIC PANIC PANIC.
You can see and hear msnbc and cnn PANIC over this choice by NOW saying experience matters. WOW ..... I guess obama finally bought himself some experience.
PREDICTIONS ...... msnbc will do none stop so-called in depth negative stories on Sarah Palin based on inuendo and gotha. ..... cnn will also follow with so-called friends and democrat pundits saying Mccain will die soon and America should be afraid of Palin. ....... the obama camp will send out all women surrogates to say its an insult to women and she doesn't fight for or speak to women issues.
The fact is the obama media like matthews, olbermann, larry king, andrea michelle. anderson cooper, shuster and the obama camp see in Sarah Palin a TRUE AMERICAN STORY which will connect with white working class and mibddle America and this will lead to an obama defeat.
PANIC PANIC PANIC ......... good move Mccain

I've been disappointed in the lack of options for the upcoming presidential election. It was more of a matter of voting for the "lesser of two evils". But after hearing Gov. S. Palin, Wow- For the first time, I'm exited about casting a ballot for someone who has genuine convictions. She speaks from the heart expressing the very hopes, dreams and things that concern "we the people". Her words ring true. As I listened to her speak, a lump formed in my throat just thinking that for the first time we have a chance to elect someone who is different than the rest of the self serving politicians currently in office. She is a huge asset to our country. McCain/Palin ticket will be getting a vote from each voting adult in this family, but now, it will not be grudgingly. - Thank God for hearing our prayers for real change. Great choice McCain!
She appeals to much more than just women. She is the right answer at the right time for America. She will energize the conservative base.
I am very happy for McCain choice for VP!!
Robert J.
Mc Cain not only served our country in the POW camps but not has the same strength, will, and determination to follow through with what he has started.
Hats Off to Mc Cain! God Bless him and his vision for America!
Wow these comments are so fake:
As a black gay female liberal, Ill be crossing parties and voting republican for the first time ever!!! All thanks to McCains great pick of S Palin!
Go McCain Palin '08!!!
This is GREAT!!!!
Now if we can get 534 more like her to replace everyone else in the white house maybe we can restore constitutional order!
I agree with Corrine who wrote in. I think it is great that McCain had balls to pick a woman and someone different. All for it. I think Obama is a disaster waiting to happen. Totally clueless about the real people.
I hope America wakes up and picks the right team. Yea McCain!!
FINALLY - HOPE FOR OUR COUNTRY!!!!!!
Great, the Republicans propose the old fart with PTSD and now they team him up with the out of touch caribou hunter. Just more display of the ugly American and George Bush
I like the choice I have now..McCain and Palin. Finally a strong team that I can respect and trust. Too bad Obama didn't see the light with Hillary. I am
crossing over to vote for the man who has sense and selected a strong woman
to complement his strengths!
I have never been so excited. What a woman. Sara is such a down to earth person. It's nice to see someone from the working class America. What a family and what great values. I saw her on Glen Beck some time ago and was so impressed. You go girl!!!!
I think she is not qualified be the VP. She's only been Governor for 20 months... I think it is a bad move for McAin't . Sorry, but she's not gonna do anything for his chances in Nov... Obama All The Way.
WHY, BECAUSE SHE HAS A BAD FEELING ABOUT B HUSSIAN OBAMA AND SHE IS VERY EXCITED ABOUT GOV. PALIN AND HER CANDID PERSONALITY. GO GO GO MCCAIN/PALIN THE BEST TICKET IN THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!
Great Lady, they have my vote, for sure.
McCain finally realized that a majority America isn't gonna vote for him but his VP. He's just trying to jump on the band wagon!
Two years as Gov. of Alaska and Mayor of Wasillia does NOT make you qualified. Signed, an Alaskan! Readers....Alaskans are less supportive of this nomination than the public is aware.
The fact that he has nominated a woman does not mean that the 18 million voters that supported Senator Clinton will support a woman who does not share the same values of the democratic platform. I can not believe of the thousand of republicans out there , she was the most qualified.
Great duo!!! I was giving my vote to Hillary and arrogant Obama team including his wife did not want to consider Hillary - what a mistake!!
My vote goes to McCain and Palin for sure!
What is going on? The United States could be in real big trouble! She should be at home taking care of her sick baby. Sure shes nice and lives in a small state and very opinionated and she will not get Hillary's true followers. This was crazy! You have really helped the Democrats.
Good Job McCain!!!!!
This is great. It is time the Republican party added some new blood to the system. The good ole boy system of the same ole tired politicians that have done nothing since Reagan; is over with.
Mrs Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air.
I hope she turns Washington, D.C. upside down. It is time or our great country is going down the tubes to a bunch of idiots.
Thank You,
Morris Bowers
Athens, Al
If it was a man with her credentials, he would have been crucified, he being sexist.
I've been jumping up and down all day. I'm so excited that I can hardly contain myself. What an incredible talent. What a woman!
Break open the champagne! She is cooler than....what's his name?
As a woman I am insulted that the McCain Campaign thinks I will vote for any woman. He made a reckless choice.
McCain and Palin will ROCK AMERICA!!! YEAH!!!
McCain and Palin with ROCK AMERICA!!! YEAH!!!
Sorry for the typos -- "in 3" should be deleted and the mispelling of Condoleeza Rice is inexcusable.
We have been praying EVERYDAY and begging God for help in this
campaign for President.....our prayers have been answered with
Sarah.
Holly do u want the whole list or just the top ten women that just wont do?
here they are ( the top ten)
1. Oprah
2. Nancy Pope Pelosi
3. Ariana Huffington
4. McCaskill
5. Maxine Waters
6. Barbara Boxer
7. Teresa Kerry
8. Elizabeth extra marrital affair Edwards
9. Michelle Obama
10. Now even HILLROD
How exciting....I wasn't excited about working in the election precinct. SP has lifted my heart to be thrilled to offer my time to take my chair on election day, 11/4/08. God bless America.
The DEMS didn't get it. Do they really think Hillary Supporters were just going to fall in...we don't want or like OBAMA, don't believe him, don't trust him and were NEVER going to vote for him. It's not about the PARTY, it's about the people..18 million who clearly wanted Senator Hillary Clinton and were treated as if they were spoiled children..now, now..OBAMA is the one!! Tsk, Tsk,Tsk
As a highly educated, six figure salary female as are many of my friends, including male, Senator Clinton will always be our HERO!!!.
McCain - Sarah Palin, yeah, we're good. And maybe it was all politics, but I suspect her acknowledgement of Senator Ferraro and Senator Clinton was genuine ...she has our respect and VOTE!!!
NO HOLLY, JUST ANY WOMAN WON'T DO...NOR WILL ANY MAN JUST DO....I want a woman and a man with principles
What an incredible Republican team "McCain and Palin" just what America needs in the White House. They have our votes. (Look out Pelosi - Gov. Palin got rid of one jet and yours might be the next.)
What a great surprise! McCain couldn't have chosen a better person. I actually had tears of joy in my eyes when McCain introduced her. She is a true American with a lot of courage, good principles and spirit. I have a lot of confidence with the Republican ticket....I only hope that the majority of America feels the same way.
There is HOPE for AMERICA afterall. I will now be sending in my coins afterall. She will make a fabulous First woman President in '12 or '16. Going to be Exhillerating!
Biden: " The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training" ..... McCain needs no training un like your potential boss.....LOL
Palin will be ready when the time comes baby.....
Wow, after reading some of these posts I quess just any woman would do. Quoted from above.
"I was a Hillary supporter and after hearing of McCain choice of VP, I will now vote for the Republican Party ( first time in my life) I am so thrilled and excited about Sarah Palin!!!!! Good job McCain, Good Bye Hussein Obama." Wow.
Thats what McCain expected (don't care what you stand for as long as it's a woman) from women voters and I would not have believed it until I saw it. If you were so passionate about Hillary how could you make the leap? They are not even on the same page?
Wow! Wow! Wow! This was masterful! McCain keeps surprising me! I love it!
Finally!!! I was so energized and refreshed by today's announcement of SP! What a GREAT selection by Mc Cain! I was just about to give up on the Republican party! Finally Mc Cain listened to the people and made the BEST choice! He has my vote! (32 year old female, mother of 2, from California)
Keep praying America. God is answering our prayers.
Thank you Sen.McCain for the great choice you have made.
She is real and that's what America needs.
God bless both of you.
She's got more executive experience than the other three guys combined. OUTSTANDING!!
I reserve the use of the word awesome for something Messianic ....McCain Palin is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so pleased with this selection. I was goingto vote Republican anyway, but am so tired of hearing the name Obama. He is such a fruad and this gives me real hope that voters will open their eyes and see him for what he really is. Thanks John McCain for getting our attention. Vote McCain/Palin
as a liberal i couldn't be happier. McCain's advisors just made their biggest mistake so far.
note i say his advisors since at 72 it's all he can do to stay awake, much less choose a VP.
obama's not liberal enough for me but at least now i don't have to worry about McCain winning!
HA HA HA!
What I've heard about the ALASKA GOVERNOR PALIN....Ill support her till the end....I could just faint and swoon over her!!!! She is THE ONE!!!! Most excellent decision McCain...... With decisions like this Im loving voting for you!!!!
McCain/
Palin...................................................
Dream , Dream, Joy...Yes WE AMERICANS don't NEED the Love of the International Community, WE DO THE RIGHT THING FOR OUR COUNTRY AND THE WORLD, despite the fact that most of the time WE get very little credit for it. GO McCain/Palin !!!!!
When Obama selected Biden over Clinton, I was very worried. Now I say for sure Hello to our 44th President, John McCain.
McCain/Palin!! I'm a Democrat but I'm not letting this woman get away!!! I'm glad McCain found this lady. There's hope after all for the USA & our families, she's one of us!!!!!
Now THIS is change we can believe in!!! McCain/Palin 08
Who knew you had to wear heels to "walk the talk?"
