I'm very proud of John McCain for making this pick. At least someone on our ticket has some actual executive experience and has balanced a budget. The only thing Obama has experience in is co-authoring bogus wasteful spending bills. Obama was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996. Palin began her political career in 1992, she was serving in public office 4 years before Obama. We will gladly welcome a debate on experience.

This is a homerun for McCain! Gov. Palin has added freshness, sincerity and real "CHANGE" for our future! Maybe the spotlight will now turn toward the Republican Party!

This poll needed another choice, Greta: "Will energize the Republican base, which has had its doubts about McCain."
Ouida - 18 years ago
As a former democrat, now Independent, I could not be happier. I was leaning toward Senator McCain, but his choice and her record have "sealed the deal". I strongly believe in term limits for congressmen, by the end of two terms they have forgotten their constituents who sent them to Washington, and appear to work only for "special interest" groups. Vice President Palin will be a badly needed breath of fresh air!!
Awesome pick! Finally a woman we can truly admire and respect. Obama loses!
Allie - 18 years ago
I don't watch news very much cause i'm a young teen but i think it was really cool that Mr. Mccain chose Mrs. Palin for his vp. very very cool! that made me interested in the news for the first time in a long time!

I've already spoken with a liberal woman in New Mexico who now supports the McCain ticket. I just have to get her registered to vote ASAP.

Odd, so odd. The "Yes We Can" Change agent for the Dems' selected one of the most established "insiders" of Washington, DC, and then, the other insider stepped "outside" of the Beltway and took a reformer action in choosing a true outsider. What is that called again, irony?

Since about half of the country pay no federal income tax-For obama to lower taxes for 95% of the people- this will mean more payments going to people who pay no taxes. We don't need a hidden welfare system called tax reform.

I was already voting for McCain for President before today, but now......I will DEFINITELY voting for McCain! I feel a sense of pride that he has chosen Governor Palin.
This will be an exciting election.

This is the first time I will ever vote for a Republican (although on retrospect I am sorry I voted for Jimmy Carter).

She doesn't talk about what she will do (if elected), instead she can talk about what she has done out of her love for her state. I am ready to vote right now.

This has been the most unbelievable day!!! I am SO EXCITED with the choice McCain has made with Palin. She is a breath of fresh air and does not take any bull. Has the media even listened to anything that she has said or done? All I hear from the left is how inexperienced she is, and would she even be on the ticket if Hillary was chosen for Obama? They keep saying how she was a mayor of a small town, doesn't governor count? I think the answer would be YES and i cannot wait to cast my vote for McCain/Palin. God Bless America!

What a wonderful gift John McCain has given to this country in his choice for VP--Sarah Palin--she is a fresh new start and for the first time in a long time--a politician with character and guts to stand for what really matters--the people, truth, and all that this great country was founded on---thank you many times over!!
Diane - 18 years ago
I have been a Democrat my whole voting life, but I am voting for McCain as my values are no longer with the Democrats but with the Republicans and I'm very excited about Gov. Palin. I saw and heard her speak about a month ago and I was very impressed. She is a tremendous choice and I'm thrilled that John McCain picked her! Go Gov. Palin. I admire you greatly already.
Wayne - 18 years ago
How can she hurt McCain more than Biden hurts Obama? Obama's choice shows he needed to choose someone with more experience than he; someone to help answer the tough questions. McCain doesn't need to choose someone to help him answer the questions. Besides, who has more experience than McCain?
Shaylo - 18 years ago
Woo-Hoo! This woman has all the bases covered! Executive experience as mayor and governor, a mom of 5 kids and one has Downs and one is serving in the military, husband is union, experience with big oil, environmental issues, small business, she's a NRA member, hunter, pro-life, pro-marriage, true Christian values. WOW! What a role model for women everywhere! She has class, grace and guts! What more could we ask for?
KJ - 18 years ago
Perfect VP choice!!! Excellent morales, credentials and a lot of energy!!! Palin Rocks!!!
Albert Cleveland - 18 years ago
An amazing vice-president choice who has more experience than the top of the Democrat ticket. She will stand up for America. I am so proud of the choice.
Tim - 18 years ago
McCain said it all, she is just what this country needs.
George - 18 years ago
WOW! Now "I HAVE A DREAM". She could be our first female president.
Alan - 18 years ago
I think McCain hit this ball right out of the park.
Right over the heads of Obama and Biden!
Peggy - 18 years ago
Already I have received a HATE Palin email sent from Barbara Boxer - via the Sierra Club. Shame on you, Barbara Boxer. The difference between Palin and Boxer is that Palin is a genuine lady!!
Denise - 18 years ago
What an incredible choice! I believe Sarah Palin will give all women a reason to vote. Her record seems beyond reproach and her reform accomplishments are substantial and tremendous. She is the real deal and will add sizzle to the McCain ticket! I cannot wait to vote.
butch - 18 years ago
Unless there is a skeleton in Sarah Palin's closet, I'd say the GOP will retain the white house and possibly in landslide fashion. I recently read that if McCain could capture 1/3 to 1/2 of the Hilliary democrats, it would result in a fairly easy victory. Sarah Palin ought to make that entirely possible. She is now the 2nd most famous alaskan after Mario Chalmers!
Women United - 18 years ago
It is finally exciting to watch the presidential race!! I am looking forward to a new white house and a real "change" to take place. McCain has backed himself with the ACE of Spades. I am happy to see the republican party in the media, I was starting to have nightmares of Obama and his routine, non substanced slogans "yes we can" and "change you can believe in", please. I wonder if he sincerely knows what we can do or what change it is we can believe in or if it just sounded like a good slogan to get attention. Hats off to McCain!! It feels good to have morals so close to the white house.
Bob - 18 years ago
I am a long term conservative who had been totally apathetic over the Republican campaign and had considered staying home on election day. I am back on board and will vote for the McCain/Palin ticket .
Cody - 18 years ago
I was undecided about McCain until this morning... I will now fully support and vote for McCain because of Palin... I'm 22 years old and I would call myself a social conservative... so Palin gives me HOPE in McCain.
Tim Bilsky - 18 years ago
Only in America can we have an African-American, a mother of five from its northernmost state, a senator who has lost loved ones in traumatic fashion, and a war hero all running for the top office in the land. Though, I know who I am voting for, I am thankful for the way things are turning out on both sides.
Tami - 18 years ago
I think McCain made an excellent choice. I like Sarah Palin. I think she is a smart lady. She seems down to earth and in check with the real world. She is proud of her husband and family. She has strong values. She does what she feels is right. She not in public service to make money or benefit herself. She is in public service to help people and make the country a better place for the next generation. Our country needs a person like her and should feel honored she accepted the VP nomination.
Margaret - 18 years ago
You chose wisely, John McCain!! And is there any doubt who our first female President will be - mmm - say about 8 years from now??!!
Jill - 18 years ago
Amen! What a refreshing compliment to the Republican ticket! Palin is an all-around, down to earth true American! I can't wait to have her in the White House!!!
Emile - 18 years ago
Now I am excited about the election and will vote. This is a woman I can vote for. It is ashamed that the election is all about race on the Democratic side.
Dawn - 18 years ago
I think this was a brilliant VP choice! Go McCain/Palin and God speed to her son!!
Ann Jones - 18 years ago
I couldn't be more impressed by Sarah Palin....But I wish you would include in your choices for poling if it will help to unite Republicans behind McCain..It does me....but I would like to hear how other Republicans feel.

you go girl! and I'm a democrat.
Carol Ann Auty - 18 years ago
As a life long Dem, I say: No Hillary, then let it be Sarah!!! The DNC, Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi and the rest of them right for SELECTING our nominee!
Good luck to JSM who played by the rules. Hope my party learns it's lesson.
Luv ya Greta, you always play fair.
Natalie - 18 years ago
I am so excited! Finally a straight forward, no nonsense woman. I love her demeanor. She appears to be the antithesis of HIllary and I love that. Sarah appears genuine and Hillary is a proven pathological liar and an embarrassment to the women's movement in my opinion. I am so happy the Clinton's are out of the pix for at least the next four years.
Disgruntled and disappointed Dem - 18 years ago
I was going to write in Hillary, but I now have a reason to cast my vote; Sarah Palin! Ending the "good 'ol boys club" is REAL change!
How dare Obama assume that the Hillary votes would go to him!

I must admit I was becoming a bit unsure as to how this election would end. Enter Sarah Palin...NOW...I'm a believer! McCain/Palin is a winning ticket all the way!
Stephen Tregoning, Woodinville, Wa. - 18 years ago
the choice of Sarah Palin is a very sound one. she poses a huge problem for the Democrats because of her gender and abilities. unfortunately she'll provide the radical left with an easy target for their smears and hyperbole,,,, but then, that probably couldn't be avoided no matter who had been chosen.
Armand - 18 years ago
Awesome choice! Brilliant! McCain just cemented in my vote for him! I am very impressed and even proud of this choice, and I am an independent. What an awesome team, as opposed to the pathetic pair the Dems have mustered= all talk, no substance. Looking forward to a woman Vice President! A great day for the USA!
Mary Ann Stout - 18 years ago
The questions didn't fit my thoughts, so I chose "none or little": I don't believe Gov. Palin will hurt the ticket; nor do I know about the Democratic women ... excepting a few comments heard on radio today. I think she is an asset to the Republicans. Though I am not in favor of a woman president, I will vote yes McCain / Palin. In 2012, I will pray that God would not make me "render unto Caesar" with a woman at the head of the ticket. Then there's Queen Esther!!! One ticket at a time.
Alice Burkhart - 18 years ago
Finally. Sarah Palin is someone I can get excited about. No more of the Washington corrupted same-o, same-o. May she can even help to straighten out Senator McCain! I am thrilled!
Doreen - 18 years ago
It would be a mistake to vote for the first black person that ran for the office of President of the United States.
I don't trust Obama and will not vote for him, I am switching parties and voting for McCain. I also am very impressed that he choose a woman Sarah as his running MATE. We need her.
Women rule.
Good job John McCain.

I am thrilled to finally have a woman with morals and ethics that I can vote for. What a woman! She really is an exciting pick! Talk about change! We are now the party of change, and we have the real deal. McCain used such good judgment on this pick. It was such a surprise. Now who has that tingly feeling? Republicans!
Florida undecided...till now - 18 years ago
My wife and I would have voted for Hillary if she won the Democratic nomination. Till now we have been undecided between Obama and McCain. If Obama would have chosen Clinton we would have been leaning towards Obama. However now our decision is 100% for McCain. Great move! A vote for McCain is REALLY a vote for change!!
Wayne in Texas - 18 years ago
Don't you just love 2 mavericks on the same team!!! It's McCain/Palin in 2008.
deb h - 18 years ago
I was hesitant at first, surprised, but after reading about her, hearing her speak about her beliefs, I am so proud. She is a huge asset, her experience as a leader of one of the largest energy producing states is a great strength for the ticket. She is quite a lady! What a pleasant surprise!

What a tremendous choice by John McCain.
Frank - 18 years ago
From the beautiful hills of West Virginia, we love this choice!
A HUGE HOME RUN BY McCAIN! She is awesome and puts a fresh face on whole GOP. She didn't get a 81% approval rating in Alaska by mistake. She will make a great VP and later on President!

Now I am REALLY excited! You can't help but think the Dems. heads were spinning when Gov. Palin was announced as McCains running mate. I have been continually impressed by everything I have learned about her today ( the negative comments came off as desperate reaches for anything). I love the person she seems to be, the fact that she is a beautiful woman is just icing on the cake. I couldn't ask for a better role model for my two daughters, too! Way to go McCain! Fantastic choice!!
Richard Duncan - 18 years ago
Outstanding, brilliant selection. Interesting to see what the Obamunists try to do to her.

AT LAST TWO TRUE AMERICAN'S! I'M SURE NBC AND MSNBC WILL DO THEIR BEST TO BURY THEM IN "MUD." I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE I AM A LADY, AS IS GOVERNOR PALIN, OR I WOULD NOT USE THE WORD, "MUD."
Frank Patterson - 18 years ago
Home Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theresa - 18 years ago
I am a Democrat for McCain. I am a conservative Democrat who feels that the Democratic party is becoming too liberal. I am also catholic and was deeply offended by Pelosi's comments when asked "when life began" she stated that the catholic church is not clear on the teachings. Nancy Pelosi as a catholic should be ashamed that she is not familiar with basic cathechism that life begins at conception.
I believe that the Democratic Party is trying to become too liberal and not all of us embrace this liberal theology.
I am frightened for my children if Obama wins. Our country needs a strong sense of morality and values if we are to decide what is right vs wrong
Alice - 18 years ago
We are absolutely delighted with the choice of Governor Sarah Palin for the Republican Vice President! She is a wife, a mother of 5, and a totally talented woman who is not afraid to put a stop corruption. She is not phony and will be a terrific running mate for Senator John McCain! Unfortunately of course we will have to listen to all the "democratic garbage" that has already started today! Obama really needs to be prepared to shake the ghosts out of his closet! In addition, we know that John and Cindy McCain and Sarah and Todd Palin ARE PROUD TO BE AMERICANS AND ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR COUNTRY!!! May God bless them and May God bless the United States of America and all our servicemen and women.
Carolyn - 18 years ago
McCain and Palin will have a hard road ahead. The Democratic leadership will send women of the party, Pelosi comes to mind, to do their dirty work for them and they will go after her with a vengeance but she can handle it and it will only make her stronger. I believe the hell the Democrats put Hillary Clinton through made her stronger. I think Obama and Biden don't have any change or hope to offer. It's busiess as usual. Obama has been exposed as short sighted and even cowardly by not choosing Clinton and he will pay for it in November.
Julie in NJ - 18 years ago
Way to go Senator McCain! Gov. Palin is awesome! What a smart, courageous decision.
James Coleson - 18 years ago
Gov. Palin's nomination knocked the socks off me. No better choice would be or could be found. Who said McCain didn't have the skills needed as President. His decision proved he does.

The more I hear her speak and the more I read about Gov Palin the more excited I get about this election!
What a fantastic pick for VP! John McCain hit the Grand Slam with this wonderful woman. The most beautiful thing about her seems to be her heart - and that's saying alot when you consider her outer beauty! She's not only a woman's woman - she's a man's woman as well. She has the capacity to be one of the most influential women to ever hit Washington!
Wendy House in NC - 18 years ago
I waited today and was in a crowd of mixed blacks and whites watching Fox News when McCain announced Sarah as the VP. It was wonderful. My government office phone started ringing and emails started coming in after the word was circulated. The comments were outstanding. When Iarrived home I have 2 sisters that called me. These sisters had decided not to vote at all but they were excited about Sarah.
This is wonderful for the Republican Party. I had been betting on Huckabee but I think this will even be more exciting and of course making history. I hope this really bears heavy on Obama because of his choice of a VP. Hillary should've been the VP.
I am and will continue to canvas voters for McCain and in the process be very proud of the choice he made.
By the way Greta, I am a long time watcher of your program and I love Fox News, my TV stays turned on with the Fox News.
Regards

The Democrats had the ball on the Republicans 10 yard line and ready to score, the Republicans have stolen the ball and returned it to the Democrats 20 yard line. Not much time left in the game, it gets more exciting each play.

I have never favored a woman in the White House. Boy, have I changed mine mind. I have read everything I could find today on Governor Palin and I can't think of a single reason not to like what she is offering. What a refreshing addition to the Republican Party! Kudos to Mccain for his choice!

A woman who’s only foreign policy knowledge is that her state is close to Russia and Canada…Thanks McCain, you just lost it for us.

I am a Romney fan and I am so EXCITED about Gov. Palin! The reason I liked Romney is because he saw that Washington and big government needed fixing. I believe that Gov. Palin has what it takes to help John McCain get that job done. Everything about her is ON THE MONEY! I have already emailed my daughter and daughter-in-law who are also strong young professional women. I told them that this nomination is for them and for all women of conviction as well as for their daughters; and their brothers, husbands, dads, sons and male friends. Thank you Sen. Mc Cain for this brilliant pick!

I was moved by this lady today.I feel she is an honorable, honest politician who works for the American people.I had my doubts about Mccain but there is no doubt that he made the best choice ever.I truly believe she could hold her own against Obama. Not for the reason she is a woman but her beliefs, her actions and the changes she made as Gov. of Alaska.
Women, unite and get rid of the loosers we have in Washington. That goes for the women who follow in their footsteps in Washington.
I have worked for 36 years ,raised a family and complained ,why does the Govt.take my hard earned money? It is time for the hard working women of America to get our rewards and clean up Washington.

Governor Palin comes to this race more qualified that Senator Obama and she's only running for the Vice President. She's worked her way up from local council person to Governor of Alaska. She has a positive rating in her state of 90% even after sending back the pork from Washington... Congratulation to her and to Senator McCain.

What a wonderful gift John McCain has given to this country in his choice for VP--Sarah Palin--she is a fresh new start and for the first time in a long time--a politician with character and guts to stand for what really matters--the people, truth, and all that this great country was founded on---thank you many times over!!
How can she hurt McCain more than Biden hurts Obama? Obama's choice shows he needed to choose someone with more experience than he; someone to help answer the tough questions. McCain doesn't need to choose someone to help him answer the questions. Besides, who has more experience than McCain?
Perfect VP choice!!! Excellent morales, credentials and a lot of energy!!! Palin Rocks!!!
An amazing vice-president choice who has more experience than the top of the Democrat ticket. She will stand up for America. I am so proud of the choice.
McCain said it all, she is just what this country needs.
WOW! Now "I HAVE A DREAM". She could be our first female president.
I think McCain hit this ball right out of the park.
Right over the heads of Obama and Biden!
Already I have received a HATE Palin email sent from Barbara Boxer - via the Sierra Club. Shame on you, Barbara Boxer. The difference between Palin and Boxer is that Palin is a genuine lady!!
What an incredible choice! I believe Sarah Palin will give all women a reason to vote. Her record seems beyond reproach and her reform accomplishments are substantial and tremendous. She is the real deal and will add sizzle to the McCain ticket! I cannot wait to vote.
I am a long term conservative who had been totally apathetic over the Republican campaign and had considered staying home on election day. I am back on board and will vote for the McCain/Palin ticket .
I was undecided about McCain until this morning... I will now fully support and vote for McCain because of Palin... I'm 22 years old and I would call myself a social conservative... so Palin gives me HOPE in McCain.
Only in America can we have an African-American, a mother of five from its northernmost state, a senator who has lost loved ones in traumatic fashion, and a war hero all running for the top office in the land. Though, I know who I am voting for, I am thankful for the way things are turning out on both sides.
You chose wisely, John McCain!! And is there any doubt who our first female President will be - mmm - say about 8 years from now??!!
Amen! What a refreshing compliment to the Republican ticket! Palin is an all-around, down to earth true American! I can't wait to have her in the White House!!!
Now I am excited about the election and will vote. This is a woman I can vote for. It is ashamed that the election is all about race on the Democratic side.
I think this was a brilliant VP choice! Go McCain/Palin and God speed to her son!!
I couldn't be more impressed by Sarah Palin....But I wish you would include in your choices for poling if it will help to unite Republicans behind McCain..It does me....but I would like to hear how other Republicans feel.
Thank you Senator John McCain! You are #1! Thank you for not only telling women they are important but choosing such a grat women as Governor Sarah Palin WOW!!!!!
What a great day for America...It is truly a historical event...I'm proud to be an American and I'll be honored to cast my vote for McCain/Palin in November.
I am a Democrat who has just changed her mind!!! McCain and Palin all the way!!!! She was just what I needed to make up my mind.
you go girl! and I'm a democrat.
I was going to write in Hillary, but I now have a reason to cast my vote; Sarah Palin! Ending the "good 'ol boys club" is REAL change!
How dare Obama assume that the Hillary votes would go to him!
THIS is what REAL hope feels like, not an empty promise of more entitlements to special interests!
McCain/Palin '08!
I must admit I was becoming a bit unsure as to how this election would end. Enter Sarah Palin...NOW...I'm a believer! McCain/Palin is a winning ticket all the way!
the choice of Sarah Palin is a very sound one. she poses a huge problem for the Democrats because of her gender and abilities. unfortunately she'll provide the radical left with an easy target for their smears and hyperbole,,,, but then, that probably couldn't be avoided no matter who had been chosen.
Finally. Sarah Palin is someone I can get excited about. No more of the Washington corrupted same-o, same-o. May she can even help to straighten out Senator McCain! I am thrilled!
It would be a mistake to vote for the first black person that ran for the office of President of the United States.
I don't trust Obama and will not vote for him, I am switching parties and voting for McCain. I also am very impressed that he choose a woman Sarah as his running MATE. We need her.
Women rule.
Good job John McCain.
what a breath of fresh air. i am a conservative republican & was not going to vote for mccain nor obama, but i will vote for macain because of palin. great pick!!!
Don't you just love 2 mavericks on the same team!!! It's McCain/Palin in 2008.

Home Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go Senator McCain! Gov. Palin is awesome! What a smart, courageous decision.
Gov. Palin's nomination knocked the socks off me. No better choice would be or could be found. Who said McCain didn't have the skills needed as President. His decision proved he does.
I guess I will have to vote now since someone will taken on political corruption
God has blessed America today with Sarah Palin as John McCain's VP pick! I am a very, very happy Christian, conservative Republican. Can't wait to vote!!!
Regards
Wendy
Wow. What a exciting ride we're in for.
McCain/ Palin got my vote. Thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a terrific move!!! Finally, a man who is not intimidated by a woman who is strong willed.
She sures up McCains weaknesses. She has engernized the party. I couldn't be happier. I was so not excited about this election and she has changed all that. I can't wait FOR DEBATES!!!
GREAT CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SARAH PELAN IS THE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She has more character in her pinkey than Obama has in his empty suit!
I am a registered Republican that WAS NOT going to vote this year due to the choice of Obama. NOW I will vote Democratic since McCain chose an intelligent and bold VP!
How exciting! May the games begin! Go McCain!
Governor Palin comes to this race more qualified that Senator Obama and she's only running for the Vice President. She's worked her way up from local council person to Governor of Alaska. She has a positive rating in her state of 90% even after sending back the pork from Washington... Congratulation to her and to Senator McCain.
As I die hard right wing conservative woman I feel I can now vote for this ticket. John McCain made an excellant choice when he picked Govenor Palin. I can not wait to vote this November it will be an joy to see this team in the White house. Wow what a moment!
She sures up McCains weaknesses. She has engernized the party. I couldn't be happier. I was so not excited about this election and she has changed all that. I can't wait FOR DEBATES!!!
GREAT CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
