Should voters take a Donald Trump presidential candidacy seriously?

Whether we like them or not politicians make the best presidents. In my lifetime no populist persona has come close to winning the presidency. And that is because the evil twin parties are the only ones with the keys to open the lock at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. This will be no exception.

Donald Trump, by some measure is bigger than the president of the United States. He could probably afford to buy the real estate at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and he surely can afford to self-finance his own run for the White House.

In my view, Donald Trump has no aspirations to be president, as he is satisfied basking in the glow of the media spotlight and pushing his name and his image further and further into the American psyche. Mr. Trump has a giant ego and this is how he strokes it election cycle after election cycle.

As the story goes, Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC, called not only the day, but the hour Trump would retreat from the 2012 election. And that was the hour in which Trump was to commit to another season of the “Apprentice” – another ego stroking mechanism for the world most famous Donald.

The question remains: how many Americans will be fooled this time by the man with the golden hair?
