I abhor racism. However in my mind you are almost museum like. Don't fly it over any official buildings.if a person chooses to fly it on their private space, it will tell you something about that person. Engage them in conversation. When folks realize the depth of hurt it can be educational. In school or colleges or other public places it should be inside only and only in a cetain size and number limit... .so we don't have one person with 5000 flags. If you have 5000 people with one of them ....that's a different type of statement. Some folks grew up with it almost as a warm fuzzy. ...slower more grand time. The conversation has begun though. There has to be a sensitivity to it by white folks. We don't really get it. I teach mainly African American students. Their experiences are raw. I'm one of the few white folks in their world that they know and love. I sadly had to teach them early on that....if someone looks like me they may not think like me. I've tried to introduce them to mixed environments.. diners...parks...concerts...movie theaters in my hood, not theirs........I am an army of one. My friends have met 'my kids'....5 starting college this month.. not any going to historically black ones. ..though the high schools were funneling them that way. So.......talk with the folks who come there....have dialogs about it...if a person chooses to hate...ah well.... but Mrs Evers, whose husband was murdered,....said hate is strong. Love is stronger.
