I love the idea of a town in Yandere Simulator! Even though the game would take longer to develop and be finished , I think it will be worth it in the long run.

  • PyreneesGal - 8 years ago

Of course, take as MUCH time as you need to finish the school and Osana and the other rivals and whatever other elimination methods you're planning on adding in. Finish the school and all that jazz first AND THEN work on whatever else you wanna add like part-time jobs or sabotaging dates or whatever. I may not have time to play this game, but I'll definitely keep watching your development videos and watch Kubz Scouts or MessYourself playing the game because both make it enjoyable and then your ideas are awesome.

Look at how far you've come! You've accomplished so much over the past 2 years! You've added so many elimination methods and animations and the voice actors you have are cool so you have done an AMAZING job so far, and I CANNOT wait to see the final project. You are awesome, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

  • PyreneesGal - 8 years ago

I think adding more environments instead of JUST a school would be more fun 'cause maybe the player could have part-time jobs to earn money to buy, perhaps, more weapons? But on the other hand, a town would be cool because there could be some sort of train station and some unfortunate soul (or one who is trying to steal Senpai) could "accidentally" end up on the train tracks.........Boy, I'm evil.

Or maybe you could have the option to sabotage Senpai's dates in the town. Idk how you could do that but it'd be something interesting.

School-wise, I feel like a swim pool would be cool so Yandere could maybe drown someone maybe OR she could wash off blood that way? Ok. I have no idea what benefits a swim pool could have so I'm just throwing random stuff out here.

Anyway, I think a compromise of just adding more environments would make the game more enjoyable for the player. I'm in high school, so I really don't have time to fool around but this game caught my eye and I HIGHLY support it. If only I had the time to help.......All I can do is just give feedback.......Maybe you could have a dating thing between Senpai and a rival at a restaurant and you work as a waitress and screw up their date?

An open world game would be great! But take your time,do it at your own pace. An open world game would increase the exitment and most likley earn you more profit, all the hard work would be worth it.

  • Bully - 8 years ago

In the event an open-world environment is implemented, I would like to suggest checking out the game Bully by Rockstar Games. Vehicles like bicycles were a way to quickly move around the map in Bully, and could work similarly in Yandere Sim to aid in escaping a murder scene.

  • O-chan - 8 years ago

I know that this is a bit late call, but I'd like to express my thoughts on this anyways.
The school and Yan-chans home is a very, very limited game environment, and even though I would play it regardless, I'd like to have more variety. On the other hand, open-world game, even with all the enchanting possibilities, could easily become distracting. It might cause the players to forget certain deadlines necessary for eliminating the current rival. However, it could also provide hiding and escape opinions should Yan-chan use drastic measures... Yet, would the player even want to be at school if there is a whole town to explore.
    That being said... How about if Yan-chan could visit the NPC's they have become close friends with? Maybe even some other places for hangouts and dates, imagine if Yan-chan gets to know that senpai is meeting with a rival after school! Sabotaging the meeting would certainly cross her mind c;

It would be cool to have the ability to stalk people to their homes, gain information, kill them or prevent them from arriving at school. It would be cool to be able to go back to school and manually pick up the body and bring it to your home without getting caught. It would be interesting to have an reputation in town and see how thebinpact of the deaths could affect the town's, or specific people's atmosphere and moods. More importantly it would be great to potentially run into trouble or have side missions in town. Opportunities to impress Senpai outside of school, etc. Maybe Yan Chan becomes a waitress at Senpai's favourite cafe after school when she isn't torturing students or burying bodies. Maybe yandere does things behind the scenes elsewhere to get things ready before and during school to execute her plans. Maybe instead of infochan having an unlimited stock of contraband, she simply gives information on the easiest, least conspicuous way to get illigal items. Maybe unconventional weapons could be available off school. Maybe certain favours can be less focused and revolve around after school things. This sounds like a lot to do between the weeks leading up to the tenth rival before finally capturing Senpai. Is there enough time in the schedule for all of this? Is one week really enough time to do everything? I guess what I'm trying to say is, between where the game is now and where this concept seems to want to take the game, what purpose does the rest of the world serve to an emotionless, single-minded psychopath like Yan Chan? Other than resources and progress towards her goal, I am having a hard time imagining how an open world would suit a yandere simulator game without being over extended or clustered. Perhaps in playing the game in its completed state the majority of the content outside of the main objective would be foregone. If there is a plan to incentivise exploring the town, then surely it can't go wrong, unless it completely throws the modus of the game by consuming more of the time you have than you can afford to spare while playing. I'd only be able to trust that an amazing Dev will so amazing things with their amazing concepts and amazing game design. That is all she wrote.

    N3~

P.S. Midori wanted to suggest adding some objects to the club room.
P.P.S. keep up the great work! Gambari mas!

Hey Yandere Dev I think yandere simulator should have a town just a HUGE one like in the other game but I would enjoy had least small town thank you for your time.

  • Ashleigh - 8 years ago

The open world idea would be interesting however, I feel than yandare-chan would feel like less of a yandare as people would not necessarily wish to stalk senpai home every day, go to his house etc. Rather than completely open world, I believe that new locations such as going to shops to buy equipment like the katana could be implemented considering there's already so much to do with developing the rivals and overall running of the game.. it would be a lot cheaper and faster to make yet is also more realistic than the current build as most schools would not have access to some of the weapons used in the game at all and so would allow the player to still use them without it conveniently lying around. You have already added so many features with the minigames that will help to prevent boredom, especially to new players who have not been playing throughout development. You have an amazing community so nobody would want you to overwork yourself as that could harm you and possibly impact the game itself.

  • Anifa Desu - 8 years ago

    Hey Yandere Dev it's Anifa!~,
After I submitted my opinion at the top, not only did I spell were wrong, but I noticed I sort of blabbed about interaction. I only stated what were good points, but this comment is just what I feel would be nice in a game I'd want to play. I know you won't add them since they are just amateur ideas that consume time.
°IF a TOWN was added into Yandere Sim, WOULD it be possible if the phone came to use? For example - Yandere Chan watches from the behind listening onto conversations of girls that fawn over senpai, she schemes a befriending idea that will require quite a but of trust. Yandere Chan speaks to a student and gets enough trust to ASK for the students Phone Number. Later that day Yandere Chan TEXTS or CALLS the student inviting them to café, thus Yandere Chan Can KIDNAP the student or POISON their food as they are in the bathroom.
° I love how there are tasks for the players given by other students, what if we take the tasks to another level? For example- Yandere Chan watches her rival struggle about something, this triggers Yandere to ask what's wrong but when the student gives them the task what if Yandere Chan replaces what the student asked for with deadly objects? Of course the items would have to be hidden in a gym bag or box of some sort, but not only will she give the student a deadly weapon but maybe Yandere Chan can put a new or used bloodied weapon. Thus leading to a FRAMED crime or if touched accidentally a DEADLY ACCIDENT.
°Yandere Chan lovvveesss her mastermind ideas but sometimes (if) she wants extra things that cannot be acquired at school or by info Chan, So a Store would be the best option and the only option, instead of panty shots you could befriend the store manager or simply get a job at a nearby café of at that store. The items she acquires would be - Smokes, Drugs, Poisons, Bentos that will be poisoned, extra uniforms , and or weapons that come with a bodybag. I have a somewhat gruesome idea that tags along with this Idea, what if we used mans best friend against students? Lure them in with the pet and then let the pet strike at them, of course this would be on a bringYourPetToSchool day.
°A talent show at the auditorium! This is a simple yet complex idea, Yandere Chan can sabotage the students props or sets and she can tinker with their items. This also blends in with the Mans best friend Idea, If a student brings a pet with them to the talent show Yandere should tinker with the pet if you get my point .
Thanks for letting me share my ideas! Though you may not listen to them it's good to get it out of my chest.

  • Anifa Desu - 8 years ago

    Hi there Yandere Dev!~
My Name is Desu Anifa but you may characterize me as just Anifa in your head, I have never played Yandere Sim. But I have watched videos about it. While watching I observed that-
°Players make missions and Challenges for themselves inspired by OTHERS or THEMSELVES
°They are optimistic to any kind of feature that includes interactions between STUDENTS and or PEOPLE
°Many use the extra environments in Yanderes home and school, but that only leaves them with LIMITED ACCESS and LIMITED INTERACTIONS with PLAYERS and or STUDENTS
Though there is much more I have noticed throughout the game, I feel as if those 3 we're the most occurred. Sorry for such a long Comment I know you have better things to do but my point is that the town will create endless possibilities and Endless interactions that will effect Yandere as a person and the player to bond closer to an actual human, not just some crazed girl for love.

  • Good ol' Jack - 8 years ago

I think that the open world idea is amazing but i dont want the delay time as much as anyone! I was wondering if you ciuld perhaps release the game and then go back through and add a small town or something of the such afterwards. This way you can have the game out but can still make the small village. I dont know. Maybe its better to just release it all togeather.

  • Tess - 8 years ago

I've only been following the game for a month or so and I love it. It's not like any other game in the effect that it shows a murderous female lead in a 3D platform with an intriguing storyline. What would make it even better is if it had an entire world and a sepatate portion of teenage girl/high schooler life to further extend gameplay and give a more refreshed feel to the game when you play it. Things such as needing to pick up groceries or socializing with the pet store owner to get information that helps in Yandere's murderous plans.

  • MajorK - 8 years ago

I've been following the game for a while on the youtube videos and think it looks suitably warped. For your overall concept, I think the idea of an open world (in the sense of a small japanese town) around the school will only enhance the possibilities and options - there's too many comments here already that show the ideas people have had. But! That also adds to code complexity and additional animations and characters, etc. There's a lot it could do - but on the other hand it could be the feature creep that kills forward progress. So - while I've voted for yes to the open world idea, even just certain locations could be a good way to go. A park, a mall, maybe a small set of tourist locations for school trips (waterfalls, temples, shrines, etc). At the very least it could open up murder in a cemetery while someone pays their respects to a fallen friend.

  • abil - 8 years ago

i like this idea though even its mean to delaying the game i also want a story mode of it. if yandere dev can do that this is gonna be the best game i ever play

  • Justin - 8 years ago

I don't mind delays for the game, but I feel like adding an open world would be a waster of time. Yes you could stalk your rival/senpai and hang out with people as other people mentioned, but what would that really accomplish? What could be done In a small town that is A) adding to the eliminations methods or B) extending current elimination methods, that can't already be done in a school environment? I feel like adding an open world would just be a waste of time and effort, because most of the stuff you can do in a town you can already do at school, and what you could do out of town wouldn't be worth the effort to make the town it itself. How ever I respect your wishes as a creator and whatever it is you choose I will definitely still play the game

  • jones - 8 years ago

adding a small town would be a huge expansion yes but useful. itd definitely extend the murder possibilities in the game, as well as student routines and the difficulty required to make them deviate from those routines. plus, many more places to hide the body and ways to hide evidence. not to mention being able to stalk senpai. just IMO (though it might require even MORE resources) an interesting concept would be to have many of the students (perhaps including senpai) live in this city, in apartments or whatever, so it might be possible to legitimately follow your senpai home or, in 1980s mode, follow and kill your rivals in their own homes. i dunno, it's an interesting concept, though it would be understandable if it never comes to fruition due to the huge amount of resources required.

  • Joellen Hawker - 8 years ago

Having a little village/town would be an interesting feature where more could be done like, hanging out with other students, stalking senpai so as to learn more about him and perhaps make off with some of his things for Ayano's shrine, maybe even murdering rivals away from school to alay suspicion that the perpetrator is only school based.

One thing I do find most annoying however, is the fact Ayano goes to pieces to the point of dropping things, when near senpai and can't even talk with him, not even just to say hello, he's the only student Ayano can't converse with. This, for me at least, makes him boring and turns me right off him, so I tend stay well away.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for a well designed and thoroughly engrossing, original game.

YANDERE DEV..! i would LOVE a small town where you can stalk your rivals, and at the end you will see a cutsence where you confesses you love to senpai on a date. i think that a small town sould make a better stealth game. plz make it

I thonk it would be a gret idea to make it an open world game! If there is a large town you have an oportunity to see other classmates or rivals outside of school and have options to eliminate tjem such as pushing them in front of a train at the train station but make it look like an accident or drown someone at the docs. Please consider adding these kinds of things into the game, please yandere dev.

Im sad because I think yandere sim should focus on the original plan, making a town would make itmore of a gta game where you just wonder around, forgetting about the fact that you are a yandere, not a happy person who just came to have fun and explore...

  • Yoyo-tourist - 8 years ago

I feel like open world would be good. It might also make it more challenging to find weapons and could add more creative ways to despose of your rival(s). Not only that, but there could be much more gameplay other than killing people. Manipulation could become a big factor in an open world environment, such as befriending townsfolk and making them do things for you, or having them vouch for you for the police. It will also add more creative ways to despose of a corpse, and I also agree with the shop idea and delinquents idea. Although of the challenging factor of creating, texturing, and adding animations for such environment, I feel it would be well worth it in the end.
Anyways, enough with my ramblings. You are a very skilled developer, and no matter what, Im always excited to see what you make!!!

    I'd agree that a small town would be beneficial to the gameplay. For example;

.You could add another step to Kokona's compensated dating where you could listen to her phone conversation, stalk her in Shisuta town and then take pictures and post them online anonymously to ruin her reputation and/or drive her to suicide or something.
.You can also have other places to stalk others to find out information, kill people and dispose of them without school hours.
.In the loan shark thing you could deliver the video recording and a note to the loan shark HQ instead of using your phone which could be traced back to you. You could also add the part where you drop off the daughter after you're done and not get caught.
.Then there's the option of stalking senpai and taking pictures or stealing his stuff for the shrine.
.You could have a store where you'd need to first buy the panties that boost your stats (and perhaps you'd need to get a job or do illegal stuff or tasks for people around town in exchange for money to buy them). .You can also include the easter eggs and more clothing options by buying them in a shop.
.You could then add more gameplay time after school hours and on weekends which can be spent in town or at home.
.You'd still go to info-chan for stuff during school hours though but you could add the option to obtain things in the town out of school hours or within school hours if you want to risk being caught out of school. You could even challenge the delinquents in the town or get them to do stuff if you gain their respect.
.You can plant incriminating evidence at people's houses to throw off the police after you give them a hint at the school (such as bad reputation or questionable items in their possession). Or you could frame someone without the school for a murder.
.You could turn in evidence to the police to frame someone and get them arrested.
.A whole scope of new and old characters and their backgrounds can be discovered which adds story and character development.
    .And plenty more.

In conclusion, a small town would take longer and more money but it would ultimately make the game better and more enjoyable as well as open up endless options for later on. You'd focus on the school gameplay first though as it's the main space.

  • bluebloodbitch - 8 years ago

I think it might be like, the students come out of school and the player stalk the rival or another student.

  • I'll kill for you my love... - 8 years ago

I wouldn't make it an open world since it would cost a lot more and a bigger team, but you should had places like parks, certain peoples houses, ect. That way you're just not restricted to just your house and school. Yeah having an open world game would be really cool, it would it be really worth it? The design and graphics may change, or would it still be compatible for every one to play? Would you need a better graphic card to play the game? This is something that'll have to be put into consideration. I think having multiple places you can go to, but not an open map. That's just what I think. But don't get me wrong, and open map would be really cool though.

  • Courtney - 8 years ago

Yandere sim should be open world since there is potential for other places to ambush and kill your rivals. You can also get your rivals to go to dangerous areas in the town where delinquents or other undesirables are where they can end up dead or else where out of your way to senpi's heart

  • Heartbeat360 - 8 years ago

    Cool

  • CapitalofAwesome - 8 years ago

Open world? No thank you. I think Yandere Simulator is perfect the way it is. The school environment is perfect! Don't be cliche, Yandere Dev, be original!!!

  • Boris - 8 years ago

It would be good to hace a small town to obtain another way of passive gameplay earning senpai the classic way. Parte time jobs to buy items like new games ect.

  • CJtheEAofMAS - 8 years ago

I think a small Town could add to the story itself, I know it can add even more difficulty, but I think it can add more interesting stuff to the game too, for example with the newer updates, maybe the delinquents being, well delinquents, they can be the persons who prefer going to town instead of classes, so when they are not around the incinerator they can be in town or something. And maybe some missions can be out of school, maybe the saturday and sunday can be playable too, to have even more cool missions and activities. :)

I saw that a test town is already in the game, and it looks cool that Yan-chan can go to Town, I hope you the best for your game,

  • Rogue - 8 years ago

An open-world game is always good but a lot of work on the programmer and to the player.. I would love to see the old guy Kokona-chan's with though :) and if you can find other students roaming around a plaza or something then you can spend time with them, find out their secrets, befriend them, use their weaknesses, give them a treat that raises your reputation and your psychology maybe? I would love an open-world game :) *eventhough maybe its not gonna be implemented I would still love Yandere Simulator I also think that LOVESICK is a nice alternate name for Yandere Simulator*

  • Paris Lim - 8 years ago

I've always loved open world games like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Persona3 Fes. Since Yandere Simulator is one of my favorite sandbox (its not a game yet) I already love it eve though its not yet finished, so I would really fall in love with the "game" if it becomes an open-world game... I wish I can read Japanese. :(

  • EZMF - 8 years ago

yes have open world. if not possible new environment could be a field trip week... at the beach, and temple or something like that like in many school anime. it would be a lot of work but worth it. for me at least

  • natai chan - 8 years ago

I think in the grocery store you could sell nifes and energy drinks that can make you go faster and you could make the love hotel in sisuta town for kokona Chan if you know what I mean

  • T N - 8 years ago

I want to say that more/bigger is better, but for a game managed by one person, even with the support of volunteers, I think that it is better to focus on making the core gameplay really good first. I can think of at least one recent indie game that I played that has all the ingredients for being a great game, but left me with mixed impression because the developer was trying to do too much and the finished product felt a bit imbalanced with some aspects being well done but others unpolished and I felt would have been better if left out.

Right now, we can see the Yandere Sim has a lot of great ideas (ingredients) for a great game. It would be fantastic if Yanderedev can realise his vision. And I am also not in a rush for the completed game so *I* am happy to wait as long as needed for the game to be completed no matter which direction it goes as far as the "game world" is concerned. But I am also a bit worried that what Yanderedev would like to accomplish is more than what can realistically be accomplished by a single programmer (who also manage the entire project). As a human being, you can burn out from working on a single project (that probably doesn't pay the bill right now) for the amount of time it will take to realise that vision.

I didn't vote because to me the answer is "it depends". If Yanderedev can take all the ingredients and implement in a way that is both fun and "natural" (as far as a gaming world environment is concerned), then the bigger/more open the better. But I'd rather have a smaller world (even if it is just the school) with very polished game mechanics than a bigger world that is unpolished. If the original game is a success, it could pave ways for either expansions or sequels with bigger world.

  • Somerandomguy - 8 years ago

From reading the comments, i have thought of a compromise to suit all yandere simulator players. There was a comment talking about "unlockable environments" from doing certain things e.g, kill a certain amount of people undetected, and another about making open world a dlc. If both put together, and used un the full game (and prototypes/testing), it would make yandere simulator rise high in the gaming industry(my opinion). If they were put together, the open-world dlc could have areas that cant be entered until its "unlocked". This will add more challenge to the game, and more replay value. I also think it would be a cool to add "hostile" entitys/people. E.G Theives, Security Guards(if stealing is added), crazy people (psychopatchs, but not psycho for love, just blood thirsty), ETC.

  • Filya - 9 years ago

that would be great with a small town connected to the school and yandere's home where you can actually stalk senpai after school or before school and maybe break into somebody's house to commit crimes.
i would definitly want to see yandere chan bying bleach or something else like that and kill people
getting chase by cops and police cars when riding bicycle is also thrilling
well that is just an opinion from me
i know its hard to work that out
it hard to work out the stuffs you are trying to fix too
    focus and keep going!
i am looking forward to see a complete yandere simulator

To anyone telling Dev to rush the game, shut the fuck up. Go play something else in the meantime and stop whining.

Yanderedev, I trust that you're going to make a pretty kick ass, perfect game. At first when I saw Yandere Sim, I thought it was pretty hard for me to watch. I hate murder and I hate mean spirited games... But somehow, I've found a love for it.. That makes me believe you are a genius at your craft. I voted yes for the open world simply because I put full trust that whatever the hell you do, t's going to be fun and perfect as fuck. I trust you when you say there will be replay value. And I know it will be good. I just know it. As long as you keep putting 100% into your work, everyone will love it. Thanks for working so hard! I really respect that!

  • Angel - 9 years ago

Your game is coming along very nicely. It is no surprise that it is admired by many, including myself. With that said, I do believe there should be an interactive area outside of the school. And a town is a beautiful idea. However, if having to make a town does become the case, it should still heavily reflect on the story or motive of the game. I understand you wanting to keep our interest for the game alive; yet as you clearly stated, money and volunteers/workers should be taken into account. Not only will this take a lot more time and money, but it will also take a lot of work. Forgive me for rambling on about what you already know, but trying to come up with all of that money as well as working with more people, will only add on to your stress and work. With that aside, if you do add a town, which I, along with many others would appreciate, you have to think about how it will tie into to the game. It is a nice idea to run around town and explore, but how will this helps Yandere? Will this help her gain or loose reputation? Will she be able to make friends or allies? Can she gossip or gain favors from Info-Chan? Please know that these are not real questions, nor are they suggestions. Think of this as fuel for ideas. I hope this has helped and I wish you luck for future game development. You are a very talented man, despite the criticism you may have faced. If my comment has water your time, then I do apologize. I hope you will be happy to know that I plan on making a fan art of your completed game.

Istead of making a big openworld why not making the school surrounded by a big compound of forest make it a bit complex and possible new tactics for taking out her rival also it would give a bit environment to explore and items and tricks to find..... it would make it much more interesting you could even bury the dead or summon demons in the forest how about that

    Dear Yandere Dev,
Out of what I have seen of Yandere Simulator, I have been believing that this game can become a truly amazing gem of gaming. The blood, sweat, and tears are clearly shown in your efforts to make the game and by all means should be very worthy of a lot of respect. I know that I'm late to the game but even after a couple minutes of watching the game's current content I by far am blown away by amount of detail that is put into the game's design and the core design especially.

As a new fan I recently watched your video that this poll is connected to and after watching all of it I would like to share a couple of views on the idea of adding an open world aspect to the game (while I don't have the highest amount of optimism toward having my comment read, I would still be happy to post my responses).

To me in terms of overall game design, I believe that you should approach the game towards a Zone of the Enders example. To me the first Zone of the Enders is a fine example of how I view Yandere Simulator in terms of execution and evolution of design. If you do not know about it I would say either giving it a try with the HD collection or look it up whenever you manage to find time if available. Zone of the Enders for the early PS2 as a fast action robo-brawler/shoot-em-up, contained a lot of interesting designs towards the action based combat with difficult enemies, swarms of robots flying at you from all of the place and Star Fox 64 style shoot-em up. The interesting thing about this game was that while it was somewhat new it managed to stay somewhat stagnant in its content. Most of the game consisted of missions to save cities, fight enemies under a graded time clock, and little exploration but still was very short and very "compact" in its content. What interested me about this game however what how it was obvious that the designer made this game as a partial experimental full game that focused on its core gameplay which was the highest rated part of the game itself.

With the sequel of the game 2nd Runner, the developers managed to grasp the entirety of what made the game work and not work and managed to nail the core design almost perfectly with more content and better story with intensifying combat and nicely cel-shaded graphics. This is how I view Yandere Simulator.
While I am not sure about your idea of a sequel or expansion to a game would be (probably based on sales if you're willing to make another one) I personally highly recommend working on the core gameplay and less about expansion. Yandere Simulator to me is something much newer to the market and while it has games that can used as clear inspiration, I don't believe the genre to be fully explored (thanks to my gaijin ignorance of japanese genre games). But I think you have the potential to be a developer and maybe even start a company within the states to create these kinds of simulators. But it is better to play it safe with a game of an already enlarged scale with its coding and growing design.

Also, while for us it is nice to consider and be a good source of opinion I believe that fans are not worth taking extra time towards a feature than be established in a different game or sequel/expansion that you might be interested in making after Yandere Simulator. I as a fan would be somewhat pretty sad to see some features lacking because of add-on design such as open world. Things like environments I believe would be at least easier on the clock and would make sense as a visual aesthetic and lessen the anxiety of seeing NPCs disappear.

I believe that as long as the overall complete product of the simulator is completed in terms of interacting with the world around you and winning the heart of senpai through whatever means necessary I would be fine with whatever else you want to add as the whole game.

Thanks for your time and thank you so much for Yandere Simulator!
    Real

P.S. Sorry bout the length and Have a Nice Day!

  • Vllnight - 9 years ago

I think the Yandere Simulator should complete as soon as possible.
You have may fans waiting your game, but we are not sure how long could they wait.
You can finish your game, and build the town as DLC

  • Aaron - 9 years ago

Making Yendere Simulator open world could be interesting, as long as it serves a purpose to the main mechanics of the game, What can a town provide that would help in getting rid of rivals? As long as it's not just fluff, I think adding a town area could be interesting.

  • Surrounded By Perverts - 9 years ago

YandereDev! YandereDev! If a town is added to the game, and Yandere-chan can explore that town in gameplay instead of being limited to only the school for her murderous endeavors, would this mean that expulsion and the yet to be implemented school shutdown no longer qualify as types of game overs? What I'm getting at is that if the town were an explorable environment, then perhaps Yandere-chan would still have opportunities to commit her crimes and eliminate rivals, but not be able to return to the school if expelled or if the school shuts down.

  • jeffdiamondart - 9 years ago

    Dear Yandere Dev,
An open world town sounds fun, but it doesn't fit the premise of the game. Yandere-chan's rivals are not random people, they are other girls vying for Senpai's attention. That said, a compromise is possible if you include additional environments as ~earned rewards~ for the player.

Example: committing x-number of undiscovered murders (in a row) at any time during the game without getting caught "unlocks" one such location in the form of a one-time activity: such as a school trip to the aquarium--or some place like that--where Yandere-chan can commit more murders. In addition, this model would allow more environments to be added as DLC at a later date, solving your deadline problem.

    Regards,
    Jeff Diamond

  • Kisaragi000 - 9 years ago

Copy from my comment in Youtube:

It would actually be very fun. Yandere-chan would be able to do her deeds during Town, have "fake dates" or "Fake hang outs" with other characters or rivals in town to learn about them and end up "taking care of them" one way or another in town. Because you said so before there's more then one way to handle the situation, and some players prefer the violent route while others, the non-violent route. She could kill and frame people in the town, stalk in the night in an alleyway and kill them there, introduce certain characters to bad people, criminals and yakuza, and/or sell them off to human trafficking to get them away from sempai... the possibilities are endless.

She could stalk Sempai in town and learn his daily routine, in and out of school and it could help play into the stealth gameplay if the town and school atmosphere with a day and night cycle. She could also get to know the town or sempai's family, to easily get closer to sempai through the family.

Who knows? There are pros and cons to every decision and it's up to YOU to figure out would it be more fun or better for you in developing the game in one way or the other. You've said before... you're the only or lead programmer of the game. you can make things easier by having a volunteer/paid programmer to help you with the programming, that would make development time cut down drastically.

  • SuperSmashJon - 9 years ago

Having the game be open world would be great, but I think it's unnecessary and could take up too much time. Instead, why not just have a few small areas that you can visit? You can have Yandere-Chan explore her own or other neighborhoods to collect dirt on students that happen to live there (and also maybe spy on Senpai). You can also have her visit other locations (like a local convenient store, town park, movie theater, book store, or other teen hangouts). Certain students could be found at certain locations at certain days. You might even be able to learn things about them that you couldn't learn just by stalking them at school. For example: a student from school might try to steal something from the convenient store at a certain day. Also, you can make it that Yandere-Chan can only kill other students while at school.

  • yap - 9 years ago

if you do make the game open world houses should be added for other students so the you could get dirt on other students. or you can't leave the school until you properly dispose of a body that you killed

  • Mr.Skippum - 9 years ago

I would like the game to be open world, but that can make the development process WAY longer. Do whatever you think you are actually willing to do. :-)

  • Marieon - 9 years ago

I don't know if you will see this, but how about being able to go to student's houses for starters?
You could invite people to go to your house and do activities/hide them in the closet etc.
Maybe you can get an option to sneak into Senpai's home as well :>

  • Merp - 9 years ago

I think it would be cool if we could go to Sisuta Town or something like that

  • Twilight Lysam - 9 years ago

I think you rlly should add a small envionment in the game. This way you would be able to stalk student home and maybe even kill them inside or outside their homes. I think open world is a little too much to ask. I think whether tour make open world or just a small town it should tlbe the last finsishjng touch.

  • MurderPMS - 9 years ago

I think the small town idea is great but should be saved for the squeekquel. Otherwise this might become Yandere Sim: Forever. Keep up the good work, fam!

  • Moon - 9 years ago

Okay, I personally think a small town isn't the best idea, but maybe a kind of neighborhood.
So, you can stalk Senpai while he's going home, but if you get caught by him or any other school mate, your reputation goes down or game over.
When kidnapping a girl, it's the same kind of mechanic as dragging a dead body. You have to be sneaky and kill any witnesses while making your way home.
When finding out info, you could possibly follow a girl home, seeing her home life or seeing her go on dates or something. Possibly sabotage that girl's wardrobe?
I agree with the idea of it getting stale if it's only a highschool setting, and this idea will take a lot of time but I'm willing to wait for as long as I need to for this game.
    Makeru mon ka!

  • Alex - 9 years ago

The vote result looks really depressing, because why does everyone want an open world game? Come ON!!! If you want Open World, play Skyrim or something! This is an Indie Game for Christ's sake! Open World can be done in Minecraft or Binding of Isaac, but why here?

After reading a couple of comments I suspect that the vote result is quite misleading, because many people say "yeah, do it, but don't invest all that much time into it and focus on the school instead". I can see the point of adding a few places where students gather on week-ends (like a mall), but
    1. it's not needed for the first release of the game imo (and I don't desire to have that feature at all).
    2. you don't need to make an open world for that. Just add it to the "Where do you want to go?" options you get whenever you leave an area.

I also wouldn't want to stalk students on their way home (like someone else proposed), because if you have to stealthily follow them through the entire town it gets boring soon. And don't forget that most students take a bus or go by bike, because they don't live 10 minutes away from school.

There are a lot of great games that aren't open world, e.g. Life Is Strange. Dontnod Entertainment invested a lot of resources into making the features great on which they put their main focus on, i.e. time travel (they said that the visual effects whenever Max "rewinds" were very difficult to implement) and the choice-based storyline (which is harder to implement than one might think).

I think you're already starting to deviate from the core by adding more and more and even more ways to kill students instead of things that are directly Yandere-related (like the insanity-meter and her laughter). It'd be nice to be able to interact with the girl you're supposed to kill. Maybe her responses can lower your sanity meter, especially if she says stuff about Senpai, so you mustn't talk to her if you're too unstable or she'll get frightened.

  • YandereFan - 9 years ago

So far, Yandere Sim. looks like an amazing game! But I also think that an "open world" senerio would provide more opportunities to stalk the characters and blackmail with photos or just plain info. There is also an opportunity for different hide outs & maybe a way for you to have slightly more depth to their lives. For example: one girl could have a reputation of being a perfect student & being absolutely charming, but while outside of school, she's cheating on 2 guys from school & trying to add Senpai to the list, kinda like a secret school whore. You could stalk her through town to learn this and threaten to expose her to the guys & maybe even the student body! Some other secrets could also be drug use, gang involvement, larceny, and all that jazz. But I suppose in the end it's up to you if you want to. HOWEVER there should be one exception to the town: NO MURDERS, killing a student should only occur on school grounds, in order to ovoid police investigations to your house. But all things considered, it's just an idea, I think it should be more open with different environments, but also with restrictions in the game itself. Good luck YandereDev! And keep up the good murderous work! This game will be worth the wait!!

  • Edwin - 9 years ago

Should have an open town, but not too big, allow her to cycle from school to home, because in Japan, high class residential areas are used to have lower living density. The most important is Yandere's house, should create her house so she could explore and found more of her parent's secret

  • Kevin - 9 years ago

killing neighbors and dogs if neighbors like senpai as well . Cause senpai goes home, every day. Some of senpai's neibors could fall in love with senpai just as students in school. Every one must be murdered if they like MY senpai!!!!!!

  • Hunter - 9 years ago

I think it should not be openworld, but have more of an area with some stores like a manga store. There could also be a conversation between two students that you could overhear and gain info from behind the store or in an ally.

  • Malte Arthur Refslund - 9 years ago

    This could be an option:

You could give the user the ability to create an environment. Through a workshop- or some sort, there could be downloadable content created by you, or other users.

When I say this. I visualize it much like Create/Download, Place in World.

What also would make the fun in an instant would be a modding-availability.

Why don't you just make users help the progress of your game? Add a function that allow people to upload their house creations incl. indoor, and you as the owner can put it in the game.

I think this would make people happy, and also efficiently effect you game progress.

  • SenaMolli - 9 years ago

I think that it would be more efficient and money saving to only have a few places to explore outside of the school. Perhaps Yandere Dev. could make certain areas where certain students will go so that Yandere-chan can continue her mission in time before her rival(s) can confess to Senpai. The focus would be more at the school features rather than outside features.

  • Bwee - 9 years ago

Because of how you've been developing the game so far, I never even thought of having a town to explore. I certainly wouldn't expect it. If there was some sort of sequel, sure...but I'm sure that it will be fine the way it is going so far.

If anything, adding a few more areas would be cool, like....when you go to the school gates, you get a menu of options where to go, a la Persona 3.

I guess others have already suggested that, though. xD Keep up the good work!

  • Jonasan - 9 years ago

I think you should make it an open world and have the other students roam around the town so u can kill them outside of school as well

  • Sayuri - 9 years ago

Yes, I think this should be an open world game, though that's mostly just my opinion. I love open world games and that's most of the reason I started looking into Yandere simulator in the first place. I am willing to wait, and I'm sure that no matter what you spit out, it will be marvelous! Going on the ideas of others, you can expand the killing and stealth aspect through a small town. However, I don't want to put too big a burden on you, so remember to take breaks!

  • kookycookie - 9 years ago

yes it should be an open world game because that introduces places to buy/steal objects such as manga, poison and even buying the different type of panties. Other you can do is actually stalk senpai home, hiding behind things so he doesn't see you and watching him talking to people dropping objects you can collect. Other things that could happen is stalking rivals and taking photos of them doing bad things. I don't care how long it takes. Making yandere sim an open world game is a brilliant idea so yeah DO IT if you want to

  • Lindsay Fong - 9 years ago

I think you can add an open world in Yandere Simulator to let Yadere Chan buys some special stuff to kill the other students.

  • Justin - 9 years ago

Open world is perfect, you got the town down already, just add some different lighting and some stores and the option to get off your bike and and at the time the students walk home, you could direct their location to be at home and have a walk in/close the door animation, for now stick on open world with the small town you have so far, then work on more of the actual game, then finished the actual game with improvements to the town here and there, then finish town in last update and you're good to go.

  • Warren - 9 years ago

I don't believe compromise is the right response. The very definition of the word is that no one gets what they want.

People want things now, now, now. But those people generally will not lose interest as long as you keep them updated. If you release your product incomplete, those who lose interest will not likely return, even if you add DLCs or patch the problems later on.

Ultimately, you make the decisions, and you should only release your product when you are fully satisfied with your work.

  • JP - 9 years ago

I guess somebody already said that but i think it would be more "realistic" that those books and magazines can be bought or stolen from a comic-book store (or an old man's book store in the case of ghost stories), also the mysterious tapes could be kept somewhere outside the school.
Also, there could be a forest or wasteland where you can bury bodies or so.
Japanese perverts have a reputation of stalking couples and lurking at romantic places, so perhaps there are normal couples in the small town who go to a certain place where Yandere-chan can watch and fantasize about doing the same with Senpai.
Also, i'd like to know whether or not there will be money in the final version of the game, will Yandere-chan have to pay for the sodas in the vending machine? will she be able to sell the pantyshots in the deepweb or something like that? if so, i think it would be cool if she was able to throw coins into the fountain in order to make wishes.

  • walter - 9 years ago

i think adding the open world thing could be fun to add you can make places to murder people and it will be harder to do since everybody is watching you and its harder to get away with it

  • Anonymous Person - 9 years ago

It would be really cool to have a small town and explore plus, but do other things around the town - but tht should be the last priority. Perhaps when you start a Kickstarter or a funding, that could be one of the stretch goals. Yeah - it's may take longer, but this is the price we pay for nice things.

  • beard from Taiwan - 9 years ago

Maybe you can just make some missions and develop scenes of town for it instead of making a whole open world. It would take many resources and time to make the town, but the main part of the game is about daily school life.

  • Rockgirl05 - 9 years ago

I believe that Yandere Dev should add a small town. Which he already has started on, but I think it should be his last priority. The school features are much more important.

  • Ruby Apollo - 9 years ago

Creating a town defeats the purpose of the game! Isn't yandere simulator about a school girl who is dearly in love with an upper class mate? making a town just for nothing is a waste of your time and money. Unless you add shops for manga, poison, or even weapons, but for now, work on things that link with the game and don't beat yourself up for nothing. Love ur vids and game!

  • Angela - 9 years ago

it might be a great idea to add a small city so you can walk home, stalk Sanpai, and explore the town. but having a open world might be a little too much.

  • Peteman - 9 years ago

Could you make the extra environment DLC or an expansion?

  • Lucas - 9 years ago

If Yandere Simulator would be an open world game this would be awesome to drive withe the bike or walk trough the town. And i Think for the ones who don't want open world dont leave The Schoolground then everyon is happie :)

  • Kayla - 9 years ago

Hey, I just wanted to say that I wish for you to make a town. But for good reasons.
    1) You could get invited to other friends' houses. (Eventually, you'll kill them in their sleep, and sneak out of the house if you wanted to, get rid of the evidence where an outside furnace is)
    2) You could sneak open Kokona's house (obviously, Kokona) since she leaves her door open accidentally.
    3) Walking home and getting your reputation up while in town, talking to others.
    4) You could kill people at the town, and maybe wear a mask so no one knows who you are.

Besides, don't worry about the town now. Think about it when you feel like you have added many features to the game and possibly ran out of ideas to kill students, or even cooler things you could see.

OTHER IDEAS, IF THE TOWN WON'T
    5) Hopefully you can make a pool, for those who you could drown.
    6) Also please make the police actually come in and investigate people.
    7) Maybe you could see the girl confessing her love to Senpai.
And you could wear a mask, kill her while she's confessing! Senpai won't know who you are, and cowardly run.
    8) Another idea is that you could see teachers leave near 5:55 PM.

  • Glamsus - 9 years ago

    Greetings, YandereDev.

While my opinion is trash, I'd like to tell you the world of possibilities that open up when making a game open-world! Why limit your Yandere activity to a minimum at school, when you can stalk both Senpai and your newly-marked prey home? Maybe even implement breaking and entering! Maybe you can not only perform favors for fellow students, but maybe teachers and townspeople as well? Why not kill someone in the comfort of their own home, or take them in their sleep? I've always wanted to smother a high-school girl under a pillow; the possibilities are endless!

Like I've stated before, my opinion could be considered a wide range of trash to just about anyone, but I hope I've helped quell your insecurities about such a big decision.

  • kon - 9 years ago

I would be fine with anyway Yandere Dev chooses to make this game but if it were to be a small town game I think that it would be nice that the town can only be accsessed when you've learned some new information about someone. For example on Monday morning when Kokona gets a phone call related to compensated dating and Yandere-chan over hears it she's able to access the town and stalk Kokona Monday night. I think that would be nice because it that way the player wouldn't forget the main plot of the game which is to earn Senpai's love in school.

  • naoeeni - 9 years ago

I feel like having an open environment in Yandere Simulator could open up some new features, like for example: perhaps you could actually choose to stalk Senpai when he is returning to his home after school hours. Or maybe, you could stalk your rivals and learn some new information about their personal life. However, I believe Yandere Dev should focus on the easier stuff before-hand, like different ways to...dispose of victims. Regardless, I fully respect Yandere Dev's decisions, I believe the final product will be quintessential. Keep up the good work Yandere Dev!

  • Wiki - 9 years ago

I think it is good that Yandere simulator to have a small town, but it should not be the main point of this game. For example the town will open for the player for some special time like holidays, celebrating, after school, but not in normal school day. Everything that in the town should well connected to the school, for example you can sneak in the some girls house that crush on senpai and murder her, or you could collet the item that you can not get in the school but it is helpful to your murder, or even learning some special skills for you school life. The main point of this whole game it happening in the school so whatever how big it the town is , it should made for your school life.
If the town are really need to be created , I hope the town will not distract people from the main goal-- get senpai, but not for some entertainment like fishing, eating that kind of stuff , that is totally unnecessary and wasted. If the town really be created, I hope that it has lot more way to doing the same stuff you do in normal for example you can murder by pushing them out of the street and the car will run over her body.
And I don't it my mistake or what, I only see murdering people but not developing relationship with senpai.....
I hope this comment is useful.

  • Lenna - 9 years ago

Hello YandereDev! In my opinion, it would be great if Yandere Simulator would be an open-world game! However, for an open-world game, it should be only limited to some towns, because it will take only a week before Rival-chans will confess. I mean, the sole purpose of the game is to make senpai love you right? So instead of displaying a text of Yan-chan stalking senpai, the game could have the option of literally following senpai around when the police cannot link her to any crimes.

Additionally, Kokona is the only person you could gossip about online where you will mention a place right? How about instead of just listening to the gossip, other gossips can be done if you follow a student after school? Wouldn't that be more interesting? Also, if a student dies, please don't make students appear in school anymore for formality (including faculty members).

In order to destroy rivals, it must not include destroying houses and such (don't include parents worrying after a student's death or an appearance in the game though).

The game is actually pretty good already I'd say, just don't stress your self out. You can delay the release date of the game or update... because I know you want us to have fun and enjoy the game as much as you do. Just don't forget that we knew Yandere Sim as a game to make senpai fall in love with you by destroying rivals through different procedures. :)

  • Rachel - 9 years ago

I know this commet will be ignored because Yandere Dev may have already thought of this, but I will still send out my 2 cents about why I think compromise. Just as Dev said, making a small town takes a lot of work which requires more money and more people. I would love for there to be a town, but not like Natsuiro High School. When you are in the room, you have three choices before leaving your room: School, Town, Basement. Why can't the gate at the school have simular options? This will make creating the town simpular since it's on another plan/world/thing, like it is in Sims 4. Yes, there have been other games that have been more open world and were fine, but Yandere Simulator is about a girl who wants her Senpi. An open world were transition screens don't happen sounds like more work than is needed. So I think comprimising to have the gate give you a choice on where to go after school (Home, Town) would be nice if you don't want to stay for the clubs, or the clubs are over and you have 2 hours to spare in town instead of in your room reading manga at 6pm. (Since you some how make it to your room by 8pm when you're kicked out of school by 6pm. A town moment fits there nicely in my opinion). This is why I think compromising would be better, we have our small town and a place to transition to instead of walk into should be slightly easier. (That's at least what EA said after making Sims 4)

  • Rob - 9 years ago

Good things are worth waiting for, I've played many games, and many times I've witnessed games where you could see that they wanted to add certain features and for some reason or another, they were rushed or incomplete.

I believe you should make a product that you'll be happy with, even if it takes you a year more than intended, when it is finally done, you'll be able to lock back on it and feel good about it.

Listening to those that support you and your work is a great thing, one that many devepolers should do more often, but I believe you've already been doing that well enough.

You shouldn't be afraid of taking small breaks too, for the sake of your sanity that is, I'm sure people would understand, even if they don't like it.

  • Nim-chan - 9 years ago

Here is the thing, im a bit on the compromised platform due to the fact that as explained it takes ten times the man power to make this game open world [all-be-it in a small town] but also i feel as though it'd open the game up to more options, more options for murder, secrets, maybe even be able to get a near to occult following for Yandere-chan in the town, being able to complete small tasks for older people or young kids, maybe even get on the police's side a bit, so that it is harder to be arrested for crimes. Not to mention the idea of stalking your pray, -or senpai- all the way to their home, and watching them is a fun aspect i enjoy the idea of. It would take alot of work, and time, but i believe it would make the game more complete and interesting, with hours and hours of game play. Actually my only complaint with the game as of current is that there is that deadline mark on the calander, it makes me feel pressed to complete what i wish, even if i can by pass it, i'd rather enjoy a game with seasons and a fleshed out town, maybe even festivals.. But i won't ask for to much. And remember, as a dev, you can always add more even after the games release.. Be it DLC or simply updates.

There should be a cooking club. If you acquire enough study points, you can chop bodies up and make stew out of the bodies. Be careful though, if you don't acquire enough study points, you could either: 1 Be Expelled for making students eat a human. 2 Senpai will not like you for the fact you cooked someone for him to eat. 3 Have a bad reputation loss if students see human body parts in the food you made. 4 The tastes like a human, perfume, Cologne, and blood. If you're inexperienced, you have hair, nails, and teeth in the stew, which will harm your reputation. If you're experienced, you cook the organs and if you have the max level, you put bits of the bodies in the stew, and you make the stew taste nothing like a human. But you can only use the stove when no one is in the club, if everyone sees you cooking a body and tells a teacher, she tastes it to find out if the witness is telling the truth. With no experience, you can get expelled. But with experience, the teacher will scold the witness, saying that he/she was jealous of my cooking if they are in the club. Witnesses in another club will lose the trust of that teacher so the next time I commit murder, that teacher won't trust the witness. Other teachers have no mercy, so they send the witness to detention. Detention happens when you gossip and distract faculty members. In detention, you can't leave school or talk to anyone. You have a limit to have detention, one time: you get off with a warning, three times: suspension, 5 times: expulsion and Senpai will reject your love confession.

Sempi's house!! We should be able to spy on him through bushes and we have to avoid being caught by his mom and sister!!! I think that you should also be able to devolp feelings for multiple people while sempi is the main crush, you should give sempi more friends and show random police cars in yown when ridding your bike to and from school after killing a certain amount of people. The police should also be able to stop you and ask you questions of which you must ansercarefully or the police should be seen following you and other students outside of school, btw can't wait for the ability to fight back against teachers and be able to go to the beach!!! also you should hide the weapons a bit and if a student sees one not only if you are holding it but if u leave it out in the open and go get a teacher giving you a notice and two minutes to hide the weapon before the teachers takes it and your not able to use THAT specific weapon again. I know this is a bit to ask but I think it will greatly improve the gaming experience and make it much more realistic and challenging/ entertaining. You should also start a fundraiser for a bit more funding. Thank you dev~sempi for taking the tome to read and consider this comment, Bye!!!

Rather than having the game be fully open-world, maybe just have a few specific locations that pupils like to hang out at during lunch breaks or after classes - a burger joint, arcade or park. Maybe a bus stop for a class outing special event - you go out hiking in the forest on a botany class for a school trip, giving Yandere-chan an opportunity for an MGS3-style hunt through the bushes while the other pupils are looking for wildflowers to tick off on their clipboards. Maybe you will be able to take a break from your predator hunt to find a beautiful flower for senpai?

First, you've done a hell of a great job already! You've come so far since when you first started.
My SO and I think that you should release the main Yandere Sim first. It's up to you what to add area-wise, but we think it'd be best to wait to include a town. After YanSim's release, you'd have the funding from that to work with, as well as the support of other devs who see your finished game. Either way, you know best what you can do, we'll all support you through it!

My opinion is that you release the game as just the Highschool environment. However, after its release, use the money made from sales to update the game & add the town environment. While everybody is playing in the school environment, by the time they get bored (hopefully before that) you release the town update to get the players interested again. However in saying that, there's the possibility that by doing this, if people finish the game before you release the town update, they may feel they've done everything & that the town environment isn't worth playing it through again I guess? Thought its best to leave a pro & con. It'll be good & I'll play it whatever man ;P
