Just an idea: the open-world mechanic can slowly make its way into the game. Pushing the boundaries (invisible walls?) a bit further in each update.

I don't really care how you introduce the open-world, as long as it happens and that you are satisfied with it!

  • hulkinia - 9 years ago

I think open world would be awesome and I really don't mind waiting even a lot longer for the final game but I wouldn't want the surrounding to be too big. Yandere started as game taking place in school and most actions should still stay there but of course I'm super happy to eventually see small town or even just few houses and shops. The idea is great and I hope you'll find right people to help you out with it ^^.

  • krauser - 9 years ago

The real thing you should do is make bigger the school itself, with boys rooms and girls rooms, more like and intership highschool in witch you can even make a more deep story or more deep interactions between the NPC`s,Senpai and even the player(Yandere-chan) itself. BULLY(The Rockstar game) is a big reference about it(except the open world part).I recomend that even more than and open world.I really hope that this message comes to you.Because the big part of a good game is not how big it is,is more what is the experience that YOU as a programer want us to feel.Sorry for my english by the way

Take as long as you need. I would be pretty dope to see Yandere Simulator like that game you showed us. Keep in mind to that's it's your vision. As a musician and composer, there is always 5% of me in the music scores as well as my instrument playing, and the other 95% is ink on paper/ my instrument amplifying my voice.

I personally think that there should be more environments added to Yandere sim, it would allow the game to extend beyond school hours, allow more options for ways to destroy and stalk rivals (Stalking in real life doesn't stop at a certain time of day and doesn't stick to a certain place.) but making it open world..... Possibly would be good for continuous following of someone to gain info or find a good place to murder them.

Just stalking and murdering at school isn't all that realistic and is not the path that some one that commits these sort of crimes would follow (Maybe following someone down a dark ally and finishing them off could be an option, or following them to their house and making it look like a suicide attempt after sneaking in). The possibilities make it worth the 6 month or more wait to me.

The plaza idea is a fairly good one, it adds realism since a lot of schools have one and not every place has to be a good place for murder, there are still empty rooms (I've killed people in the computer labs, in the gym, on the roof top, right by the incinerator and in the locker room in the July 1st update) that are perfect for removing rivals so a few locations that are harder to murder in wouldn't be too bad and would improve the game. it can still be useful for the social aspect of the game and for watching for people who are interested in Senpai.

While jumping may not be highly necessary for the game it is still at this point in time usually an expected part of 3 dimensional games today and I would suggest including it if it wouldn't delay the game too much.

What if you could release the open world as an expansion pack? It wouldn't necessarily mean postponing the release date.

  • ralph the wanker - 9 years ago

Open worldish. Like following your enemies who hang out with senpai at a bowling alley. like checking out the competition. Stalking them at their home.

  • KK - 9 years ago

With an open world game, maybe you could stalk people in their homes and maybe kill them in town!

  • kason - 9 years ago

Yandere sim would be better if it was open world. Then you have the opportunity to let yandere Chan go to senpies house and retrieve more items for the shrine

  • ImMrDamage - 9 years ago

Adding an open world would be a great idea, but... think about this. You'll have to add civilians and the game would lose its purpose, it'll allow the players to kill everybody like on GTA. Something you can do is add different enviroments like a sports club or a game room, places where students can be found. The game is about killing your enemies. I'm sure you don't want a ''ghost town'' or something like that, right?

  • blob - 9 years ago

maybe open world can make some enemies outside school. It should be lots of fun! Spying on senpai all the way to his house, sounds interesting~

  • Gaivile - 9 years ago

lots of people sugesting what you can put on yandere simulators open world use in many vais :stalking senpai and your enemys , part time jobs or helping locals for raising a reputation meter , shops for panties , aksesuar maybe you could buy school uniform ( it would cosst a lot of money) maybe you could find weapons or buy them . real money and info-chans panty moneys (?) can be different by getting them and spending on different shops . RM you can get by doing part time jobs, stealing, from parents giving daily money (not much, for food about price), finding wallets or rarelly buy doing good deads by helped people (it can higher chance if it is old lady) . INFO-CHAN curency you can get even from students (boys) or some pervents . maybe you can ad food meter where it can meter for more studying points geting or for being faster and stronger, favovered yandere-chans food can get her happier . i really like you would ad school bags for more inventory hinding weapons, SCH uniforms or texbooks (more skill points getting chance). it is for hiding because you can add SCH Guard they can reconaise that in your main inventory you hide big weapon or uniform he could question yandere (if talking skills arent hight enought ) and be busted . and maybe you can ad after classes clubs doingh tings , teachers helping you . Im wanna say more wourld rellated . IM SORRY FOR MY BAD WRITING IN ENGLISH

  • Yandere-chan - 9 years ago

I feel as if you should compromise, while the open world seems nice and big, what purpose would it have? I feel like you should add areas you can access, like a shop to buy more panties, or like all the student's living areas so you can do more research on them so you can kill them. Either way it's going to take more time to make this game, and if you're going to do something whole-heartedly you should go as far as you can! So I feel like you should do what you think is best as well. We love this game, and if you think people get bored with this SIM then why do we keep playing the same unfinished game over and over again! We Love it!! So I think we'll be happy as long as it stays true to your vision.

  • Minileo - 9 years ago

I absolutely love Yandere Simulator and the whole town , open world stuff is awesome and could do more good than some people think . For example you could have a better reputation by helping in a bakery or something. Or getting a part time job. It could also give you more ways for murder e.g when you ask a student to meet you in town, take them to an alleyway and BAM! You could even find Senpai in a cafe on Sundays and take pictures, i don't know :D But it would keep the game from getting boring, I mean I killed everyone in 5-10 minutes on the first day and didn't get caught (without cheats or mods :D ).. I would be up for funding, even if it is a little, but if this open world town would be in Yandere Sim. then I am ready to empty my wallet :D So you go get that town!

I'm a foreigner. Currently, since English is turning the poor translation machine words more than please to understand. Now I know this game using a video that has been translation subtitles from previous. Has a lot of interest, it is really like Yang delle simulation. I will and be better to make the game a small town even late.
Wait forever. Donations for it also I want to help do our best.

I will really love it if Yandere Simulator become an open-world. Yes, I vote for Open-World team.

However, I know the pain of developers that was trying to make this dream come true. Like you said, it was the budget and times that you can't bought instantly. It was really hard to make even if you had a big team like ATLUS. No, I don't want to destroy your dream about not making this happen to be an open-world, I'm just saying.

If you like it, you may make a zoned placed like Akiba Strips and Persona. It may decrease the exploration area, TON of story oppportunity, and TON of opportunity to kill someone. (remember, you must creative of using art of killing like real-world) In fact, some area (zone) may be made only to have some social interaction or only places to buy/gain stuff/perks. Otherwise, schooll will be as the only killing ground allowed to kill.

It's a different things like Akiba Strips which can have any battle in every zone. Yandere Simulator must aim to be a challenging secretive Yandere person-ish; to be a person who always LOYAL to senpai. To be a person who KEEP AWAY HER RIVAL from senpai. To be a person who can be DEPENDED for senpai. (in this case, good rep for everyone may be included). And to not GET CAUGHT (by senpai and anyone else). That's why PLACES and TIMES are precious essence for Yandere-chan to planning how and to kill her/him, then dispose them.

Also, I'm aware that this game will be only a matter of killing a rival or eliminate a pesky students that disturbing senpai. You see, there must be an objective story line in this game. While killing all students is permitable, decreasing numbers of students in school may lead a suspicious and investigation. Which Im afraid you must develop new system to take care of this, and yes, more money and time and etc. etc. Although you can just make this slip by with some story line like usual choices of VN and dating-sim. >_

  • Tri - 9 years ago

I'm all for the open world experience and wouldn't mind donating and waiting longer for it, but certain things for this open world need to be considered. First, small town means more students. I think it's a bit too easy to get away with murder in Yandere Simulator and would enjoy it more if there were more students, if people were harder to kill, etc so that it would be a strategy game to some extent (not an insanely hard extent). People like a challenge, not swing swing mc swing and we're all good because everyone is dead and Senpai is ours. Also, I loved the idea of the school atmosphere that gets shadyer and shadyer as more murders occur. This could be applied to a town atmosphere. Also, as the atmosphere gets darker, more cops come out and roam, shops are harder to steal from or slip things into or hide evidence in (someone earlier mentioned slipping body parts into a shop's soup to dispose of it, which I think is a lovely twisted idea), and people get suspicious easier. Perhaps you can frame people for crime too! And obviously, I'd hope the game lasts more than just a week. I also think you should have to win over Senpai with as few murders as possible or else he might move to a different town because its too dangerous! I mean, who would stay at a school where everyone was just killed? Another important point- if you and Senpai are the only two left alive then how could the cops not suspect you intensely, even if you did dispose of all evidence? No more slaughtering everyone in the school! of course, all of these things lean more towards making Yandere Simulator more so of a strategy game, but that's the kind of game I personally could spend hours on. Who wouldn't want to spend days setting up the perfect series of crimes towards stealing Senpai's heart? I also think that, maybe, Yandere-chan could make friends or enemies by being at the right place at the right time. Making a friend by helping a girl who doesnt love Senpai could help you later because maybe she'll let you borrow her scissors, being in an alley at the wrong time may cause a run-in with a dangerous gang in town. I'm just throwing out ideas- things to consider! I could go on all day, but I trust that in the end you'll make something pleasing to us all, whether any of these ideas are used or not. So far I love the game and I believe it can only get better!
One last thing- should Yandere-chan have a family? I think trying to hide her murderous ways from them and needing to hide a kid in a basement where she and her family live would prove interesting, but I also like the idea of a Yandere that lives alone with no one to interfere with her love and murder affairs. I also would like to know if we get any backstory for Yandere-chan, but a mysterious Yandere whom we control would be great too! All just considerations uwu

Alright, I selected Open World, however if you read this, please understand my full thoughts. Open World allows you to do more, have more, and be more. But it comes at the cost of focus. The reason I recommend it is because the focus in this case is on your targets, and a larger world to do more with them is a very attractive idea. Killing them in an alleyway behind a restaurant and disposing of their remains in the soup of the day, for example. Tracking them to their house, breaking in, and smothering them in their sleep. It provides more options, and that JUST on the killing and disposing area.

But it also has more requirements. If the girls have homes, then they have families in the homes. More models would be needed to populate the area, different types to diversify, instead of just a timer, the police would probably actually need to show up and arrive depending on how large you made it. There'd need to be actual locations to explore to give credence to the world existing, you'd have to do things in said world and be ABLE to do them. You'd need more hours in the day to work with, stalking and searching. And the targets would need to have parents, sisters, siblings... A kill at home might require an entire family dead instead of just one person.

What I'm trying to say is that expanding the scope is awesome in concept, however it might be more practical to go with just a few more environments, or even entirely focus on the school. I think most people would agree that there's no problem with waiting longer if you expand the scope of your project, as what's there even now is entertaining, and the future looks to be bright. However making an Open World right takes a lot to do right... It's awesome if you can manage it, if you can't though then please don't feel pressured.

  • whiic - 9 years ago

Open town would be nice. Places to increase rep (maybe there should be separate rep scales for each clique rather than one universal and hanging with delinquents could increase delinquent rep could reduce rep among others) such as restaurants and arcade but also places to commit murder (especially after sundown): pier, park, dark alleys. Many adults around to hold you until the cops arrive if they spot you in bloody clothes or near a body (unless, maybe if you were supported by an entire gang of delinquents). Added potential is limitless.

  • EddLukian - 9 years ago

I like the idea of it being open world. A world of possibilities awaits!!
Do a Kickstarter...I think the YT community will support this method.

  • Ryan - 9 years ago

I'm all for an open world game, I really am, being able to do certain things across a neighbourhood/town like stalking Senpai or your rival sounds awesome... But if it all becomes a little too much, the compromise sounds perfectly fine to me. I just don't want you to... Work too hard? I guess? XD Anyways, keep up the great work! The game is fantastic so far XD

  • Sinadee - 9 years ago

(Sorry I forgot this in my last comment) Also if you do make a town you can update buildings for new events/items over time so you don't have to do it all at once. To be honest Yandere sim has a lot of potential and I'd be willing to donate and see where it goes or help out in any way I can.

  • Sinadee - 9 years ago

I think Yandere Simulator should have a small town because it will add a TON of opportunity, Such as adding a restruant to take you "friends" to for reputation or a store to buy new hair/clothe/panties/masks. Also I don't think it has to be an open world, but maybe you can add it to the drop down menu when Yandere-chan leaves the house or goes to her basement. I would love to volunteer for helping make this but my only programming experience is in Gamemaker and Alice 2.0 (because who can use 3.0?). >-

  • Ezrael - 9 years ago

It's nice to have it as a open world game, it means more ways to assasinate your target ,more ways to dump it ,and even more features to make. Example: Assinate the girl on his room...making it looks like she hangs herself or just use a plastic bag to stop her breath then dump her on the dumpster..or just throw her of the cliff. more ways to assasinate your target!!! use even a daily stuff to kill her!!! don't let her get near senpai!!!!!

  • Lia - 9 years ago

Open-world would be too much of a hassle in my opinion. I think that Yandere-chan should be only able to walk along a street that connects her home, senpai's home, and the school. And maybe also allow her to go to some kind of store to get more items (like different panties, weapons, items, etc.). Otherwise, the game should be focused on social sabotage, and she can travel only on that one street. That's what I think would be best for the game.

Hello, I'm a big fan of Yandere Simulator and I am an environment artist that primarily works in Unreal 4 and Maya. If you need help in creating Yandere Simulator, I would be happy to help. If you'd like, please look on my website for my work.

I know that on my website is more realistic textures, but I am able to paint hand-painted as well. Thank you for your time in reading this.

  • PW - 9 years ago

so what's the difference between GTA5 and the Yandere Simulator if it is the open world? and I am afraid that it's diffcult to complete the huge project, and make the school part not so perfect if the programmer just focus on the school part

  • Toy_Chica - 9 years ago

I opposed the open world in schools or little secret space yandere Simulator or a small way but it takes a long time to a small town will be very much money, and you will sell more expensive yandere Simulator, I don't have a lot of money if you have the small town price expensive, I can't buy a yandere Simulator I am very fond of the game you made, even if the game is too expensive, that love I will not be able to buy the game!!!

  • Jenn D. - 9 years ago

I think an open world would be a WONDERFUL idea, and I would love to contribute in any way I can!! I would much rather wait for the release of an excellent game than have one sooner that is lacking potential. The game is already quite good, and I'd love to see it excel! An open world would give so many more possibilities! After all, as the game is right now, while it is super fun, it's also currently lacking real challenge when it comes to annihilating your competition. I think an open world would give opportunity to formulate more strategies and possible outcomes.

Allow me to take a brief moment to offer my services. I'll start by saying that, unfortunately, I know nothing of 3D rendering, coding, or any other real game development. :( However, if there are other skills you need, I am a freelance artist if you're interested in adding some character to your game with wall arts or designs. I'm also fairly experienced in Flash animation, if you're looking for, say, an animated sequence somewhere in the game.
I'd also like to offer my voice to you. Since there are so many girls, I'd love to offer myself to contribute absolutely FREE of charge. After all, having a variety of voices keeps your game interesting, and I can do a few different voice types myself. To give a rough example, I can sound like a charming sweet lolita, or I can also provide a more mature woman's voice, or even a much deeper, tough girl voice if you have anything like that in mind.

If you're at all interested, I can send you samples of either my voice or current artwork, and once again I completely volunteer this to you, no charge!

On top of that, if you do not need what I can offer, then I would love to contribute a financial donation to your game, should you need it. I LOVE every single update the game has to offer, and I would love very much to see it go far! I want to actively contribute as much as I can to your wonderful game concept!

Regardless, from the bottom of this anime and video game fan's heart, I wish you the very best of luck! May this game take off and prosper!!

    Jenn ♥

  • xTigreboy - 9 years ago

Yes I think it should be open world here is why. If yandere simulator is open world you can actually add more ways to kill people as in you can stalk someone and kill them somewhere in the bushes at a park or something also you can maybe buy a katana (since you don't have places yet where you can find the weapons) maybe if you try to kidnap someone you actually have to walk to your home being unsuspicious and avoiding people (or you can have a snake tongue skill where you can let people believe you're actually coming from your music school) or saying someone else he/she murdered that girl (a random citizen) but if you're in too much crime scenes you'll get noticed and maybe caught

Honestly, it would make the game more interesting and fun it doesn't matter how much fun killing/kidnapping/etc persons are in video games you don't have to force yourself (but make it still the goal of the game of course) thats why there is a nice town to explore just for relaxing (and get your sanity meter down?)

here are a few things the town should atleast have in my opinion

The school: of course because thats whats the game about

a few houses (not too many): to make it feel like a town

a library: where students go to study

a park: to get that towny feel

a police office: for the police that are coming when people notice a body and they get more advanced into research the more murders keep happening (fingerprint scanning and such)

a mall (but not a huge one): buying underwear/a bike/torture tools for torturing after kidnapping (ductape, whips etc) seeing you had that idea in a video you made (i also have to point out i have no idea of making money, maybe selling panty shots?)

    A few more things!

Let the students sometimes be in those places and always be able to kill (but harder in some places of course!)

I guess my thing is: if you're trying to kill someone you need to be creative and prepared. btw don't give hints on how to kill people I think people, we need to be creative ourselfs! don't hold our hands.

those were my ideas and thought. Thank for reading :)

  • ZeMASTA - 9 years ago

id like for it to be open world, but I don't want to bother you or suggest something over you're power. :3

  • Ted - 9 years ago

I think adding open world is a idea! I think by adding open world, the players can enjoy more features in murdering rivals like kidnapping rival's families and blackmailing the rival to lure the rival.

  • Sungjae - 9 years ago

Make it like the Witcher 3 size with voice actors, just kidding. But I think the compromise is a good idea. Kind of like the animal crossing games where you have the main village and then you can take a train to the town centre. Those games aren't too large but there's still so much to do in them. You could have the school, then maybe a cafe for socializing. A small town square for shopping and then a small neighborhood where you and some students live.

  • Angela - 9 years ago

Maybe just 1 neighborhood to yandere's house and have senpai's house in the same neighborhood!

  • Benny boy - 9 years ago

I think that the Compromise option is the best because openworld is a big risk. You also maybe will lose intrest with it and delay the game even more. I also think that you don't need open world to enjoy the game more. Environments such as the woods or senpais/rival's home, a caffe should be enough.

  • Mirrandawolf - 9 years ago

i think it would be good because it will open up more oprternitay for stalking and killing

  • woo - 9 years ago

I think that an open world would make the game highly immersion and much more professional-looking. I also think I could potentially add more gameplay time, and generally create a very fun environment that suits the theme of the game.

  • someguy - 9 years ago

I think a Compromise would be fine, you could create a town map, some 'fast travel' mechanics, some things I'd like to see would be library (as mentioned earlier), maybe a small summer festival area if you don't manage to get him in the first week, which you could try to work on your senpai relationship during or lure students to secluded areas where they probably won't be found, ever, like in a forest surrounding that area where you could dig a pit trap or hole to bury them in alive or dead (after knocking them out with the near-by shovel)
Could bob for apples with senpai to earn it and put at your senpai shrine.

  • Candice - 9 years ago

I think an open world could have the potential to add an immense amount of fun and more to do in the game. However, the game was supposed to be about killing rivals. May you could add a few places to visit instead of just school and home but not necessarily make an open world. For example, a store to buy certain weapons like maybe a box cutter. Perhaps a dock to drown people in a lake? I'm just spitballing ideas, but you get what I mean. I think this would allow people to not get bored as easily and also not lose focus on the main object / be prevented from fully exploring.

  • Alex5432 - 9 years ago

Create a game with more things to do, but don't make a open world, if create a open world you leaving of the original idea.
So make a game with a small city, with more environments and give support for mods.

  • Courts - 9 years ago

I like the idea, so much potential can be opened up by expanding the world.

It makes me think of the game Bully: You're free to roam town but you're always on a time limit before the next class starts or curfew kicks in. Once you've "completed" classes though, this is less of an issue. But this could be a problem in Yandere Simulator since it seems you'll always be on a time limit before the next girl confesses to Senpai. That could discourage people from exploring, let alone leaving school grounds.

I do not mind waiting longer, but I hope you don't bite off more than you can chew.

  • Downcode - 9 years ago

Open world seems a little unnecessary, Personally I think a game with extra environments of the school is a better option.

  • The Destroyer - 9 years ago

Focus on quality over quantity for Yandere Simulator. This is your first game, and you really shouldn't take any chances. By making it an open world it would take away from the overall gaming experience, especially if we're able to murder people outside of town.

If you want to add anything then expand the school, maybe add more classes, more easter eggs, areas to stuff dead bodies or items, and most definitely focus on the story so that players can play how they want without it being too linear. Other than the school, free-roaming Yandere's house would be okay, and maybe even a school dorm if you wanna put that in, but don't make it an open world your first time.

Make Yandere Simulator 2 the open world game, but keep the first game rich & simple.

  • Gocker - 9 years ago

I had a thought, while I was replaying Bully. Make the school larger, and unlock new areas as the weeks progress. The main building one week, then the gymnasium. Perhaps a pool, then sports fields, then the whole thing at once! The new areas would come with new ways to eliminate rivals, weapons, and secrets.

  • Sara - 9 years ago

I really think the compromise option is the smartest one. I don't think Yandere Sim would be really good with the open-world. Since the objective of the game is killing other students to make senpai notice you (for good reasons of course), I think an open-world would be a little pointless. Adding an environment to the surroundings would be a better option. I read some opinions of other people and I read " an arcade where you can spend some time to lower your insanity, or a book store where you can gather information and spread rumors outside of school.", and I think it would be far more interesting than an open-world.

  • John - 9 years ago

Yandere Sim should be a semi open world. This game doesnt need to have detail by detail but should add some events and places that students would be at. Like a mall ,convience store, fast food restaurant, etc.

  • Yandere Sim Lover - 9 years ago

I know some people think that making Yandere Sim a open world gameplay would take away from the game experience. But what if some people don't have much interest in killing and sabatoge? What if they just are interest in their Senpai or maybe even exploring the game. This is where the open world gameplay would come in. People can play a video game for many different reasons. If the game just took place at the school and say maybe players wanted to do more than just kill and get senpai. Like maybe ride around town and make up their own kind of game with it. Not really, but, you see where I'm going with this. I think it would be better for Yandere Sim to be an open world gameplay. No matter how long the wait or funds. It would be worth it.

  • skywerewolf - 9 years ago

Honestly, I think it should be more about murder and social sabotage, but I think more areas would supplement it. Open world, while it would be fun, wouldn't really fit with the social manipulation, but more places would give more options. areas where you can do other things and some people hang out, or other options are available. Like an arcade where you can spend some time to lower your insanity, or a book store where you can gather information and spread rumors outside of school.

  • Abbee - 9 years ago

I would rather have more variety in the killing than have more variety in environment. More students would be better than more town. Maybe a bigger school campus? Compromise is definitely the answer.

  • 한국친구 - 9 years ago

I think if yandere simul have a openworld, it spoil the game's identity.
yandere simul's identity is not a life-based, just kill the contestant with a lot of way.
your game have long ways to go. for example ,yandere should have a lot of way to kill friends, murdering space, various reaction of people, etc.
this is a good answer that the game have a openworl if your team have a enough money and engineer, but i think your team isn't. so i think you are better off upgrading the identity, Not add the openworld.
the openworld-based is spoil your game's main theme and COMPLETENESS.
it is not too late to start when the game get a high quality. plz focus on your way, not on another way.

  • insajoong - 9 years ago

how about make people do that
    userpacht!

  • Nexecute [Ben] - 9 years ago

Compromise seems to be the smartest choice. This doesn't seem like a game that would fit best with open world. We just need variety. Keep up the awesome work, the update videos are more than enough to keep us happy while we wait.

  • Taka - 9 years ago

Personally, I think that you should stick to the school and the few other environments you already have for this project.

Because then, after Yandere Simulator comes out and is successful, you can begin development on the much larger Yandere Simulator 2.

  • Fer - 9 years ago

total Open World would need big loads of resource. And of course it'll delay the Release Date.
It would be much better if you create seperate game, DLC, or big update. You'll lose supporters the more you make them wait.
Don't shoot for the stars now, it's too risky. Just start with simpler things like adding small places (just like Persona 3 or 4). Maybe bus stop, senpai house, yandere-chan house (that fully interactive), etc.

If you want to make larger development plan, make a sequel! Don't add massive plan in halfway. It just won't work.

Yandere Simulator as an open-world game sounds amazing! But I'm voting for compromise because it doesn't matter to me that we're limited to one location but a change of view once in a while is enough. It's also because if you open funding, it'd probably take a long while get to the amount you wish, and I'm having doubts that everyone in the YanSim fandom would donate. But, oh well, I guess trying isn't exactly out of question... Either way, I wish you and everyone else who'll be involved a good luck.

  • Frumentius Dominic - 9 years ago

i think you just need more environments at school like the school have 2 building , have canteen , have swiming pool and improve the NPC so they will react and give them more face and emotion so we dont look it like a same person . if it open world we are distracted by the open world then the point of playing yandere simulator .

  • Tallis Latif - 9 years ago

Just wait for Yandare Simulator 2 for the open world. Wanna ruin lives in school for the time being. That way we can have our cake and eat it too.

  • Just a Random passer by - 9 years ago

Maybe you could compromise by: Release Yandere Simulator "Lite Edition" (once the town is planed out) with only the school and home areas. And then later release the "Full/Extended Edition" with the town aswell, and make it an "Update" to the Lite Edition, so that users who bought the game, will get the town version for free...

  • Yiff-chan - 9 years ago

I think making an open world environment will be a good idea for more opportunities to kill off your rivals and stalk senpai.

  • Snoopy - 9 years ago

    this is a great idea
you can make some mini game in town to level up the skill someing...
follow SENPAI to his house or working place...
    mm..........well, so much doing thing
    you are yanere-genius
i know you can do it

In my position I do not mind a legend of the yandere game at any level when published
just....let me see your update every week ok?

  • fung - 9 years ago

If this game have a town so that the player can get more chance to Stalk sanpie, and sell the panties shots in store
it will be more fun that we just do every thing with the phone

  • pisca - 9 years ago

It's not necessarily need to be an open-world game. I think a setup like Persona where you move from one map to another is a good idea. And you can just online shopping if you need some equipments or tools.

  • FallenAngel - 9 years ago

I feel like maybe an entire town is a little too much- maybe aspects, like a dormitory where you can stalk the rivals? It would be easier to select certain parts and create them rather than a full town. :)

  • Ychan - 9 years ago

If YanSim was an open-world game, you could definitely play around with the stalking aspect. Students with a scared personality could be quicker to notice how weird it is of you to follow them. Others could invite you to follow them to their homes. But that's about it.

Ensure that the only places to go to are those built for ruining the lives of rivals or increasing Yandere-chan's skills/resources. Otherwise, separate areas will do! Just like you can jump from home to school, it would be nice to jump from school to a park, shopping center, pool, beach, Info-chan's house, etc.

What I mean by ruining their lives is something like... Stealing a girl's panties and leaving the evidence in someone else's house. Although, you would probably need an inventory system (simple to the weapon holding feature, but just for misc items). Another thing could be creating fake love triangles by taking pictures of two students together (one of which already has a partner) or even faking love letters, giving the students the impression the other wants to cheat with them. Or you could take a picture of the student doing something illegal (like drinking alcohol or going into an adult shop). The blackmail possibilities in a non-school environment are endless.

As for Yandere-chan, you can buy supplies at a grocery store/online store. These are just a few suggestions: Buying rope/drugs to fake suicide, buying weapons, buying clothes and panties, buying accessories, buying miscellaneous items to bribe students or teachers for a good reputation or favor, or buying voodoo dolls (this could get really dark really quickly). However, if you buy an unusual amount or assortment of items online/at one store... someone like the store clerk or neighbor might report this to police.

  • nino - 9 years ago

it should stay a school but make the shool bigger a lot more students more areas like pool, park, parking, lake, wokshops, showers,... if it would be a full open game time would be less important because you have more time until the day ends and time prob be slower because long distance travel. time is something very impotant in yanderesim you have to plan you muders where they are but also how long whil it take to cleanup and when to kill.
i dont care about the time it can take 5years and i would still be happy. i just think that the mechanics should be impoved rather than a open world

  • Chiryoka - 9 years ago

I think that Yandere Simulator shouldn't be an open-world. Maybe just a few places to go to. For example, you can make Senpai's house wherein Yandere-chan can steal his stuff, and when Senpai sees her, he'll freak out and Yandere-chan will be arrested or something. Or, you can make other students' houses so you can discover their secrets, or kill them in their sleep. You could also put a shop, so other students can ask a favor from you, then you'll buy something and earn reputation. Or maybe even a small coffee shop, where you can meet up with a rival because she is unable to meet with you at school because she is busy. That way, the school won't get too suspicious because someone didn't die from just the school, so the students won't be too paranoid. You can always just fast travel. But, that is my opinion. I wish the game makers the best.

  • Weeaboo Jones - 9 years ago

I think the school should still be the main focus but there could also be a small neighbourhood environment too. There might be an issue of "why do I need to murder rivals at school if I can just do all the murdering outside of school?" but you can either make it impossible or more difficult to murder rivals outside of school (too public, harder to find students, too many police etc) and make the purpose just stalking, buying items and fulfilling certain quests. The neighbourhood could include other students' houses, a convenience store, an arcade (maybe to play mini games or take purikura with girls to gain friendship points?), an internet cafe, a fast food restaurant, hardware store to buy weapons (be careful not too buy too many suspicious items at once), clothing store to buy panties etc. You could get Yandere-chan a part time job for more money at the cost of study points (which could be made up by going to cram school) or just to go to the hentai store where you can sell used panties for extra money.

  • President Dragon - 9 years ago

I like the idea of having other places to explore and possibly murder girls in outside of school, but open world seems like a lot of effort and money that could be used towards making the basic mechanics better. Perhaps a warp-to sort a feature would be nice, like having a small coffee shop or park that npcs visit and where Yandere-chan can then commit murder, allowing more methods of murder and more interest to the game. Also, being able to invite yandere-chan's opponents on a fake date would be excellent, and even being able to invite any npc onto a date to either trick or kill them would be an interesting feature, and could also be a part of making senpai fall in love with yandere-chan. These are only ideas, and I do not expect any of them to be considered, but they would add interest to the game and keep it from being repetitive or boring. While I cannot volunteer money or time to help you, I eagerly follow your progress and would happily wait any extra amount of time for a game release if the game is well made. Good luck on the rest of your game!

  • Chris - 9 years ago

if this turns into a anime version of GTA5 featuring a murderous yandere high school girl as the main character, you may make millions and attract people who were not even interested in anime in the first place. I personally would love an open world version and even want to buy this for a gaming console. From the way you have made this game come off as showing a bit of the dark side to life in a fun way, theres also the consideration of adding gang member npc's or the tough guys that may stand in yandere-chan's way. there could even be some ways of 3rd person melee combat and dirty quests from town npc's ( what i mean by dirty is kill someone and get away with it like bikers have been stealing from a shop or something. ) doing that could award some good rep making her a town hero and leading senpai to notice her more.

  • HoorayForShortCake - 9 years ago

Honestly, don't make a huge environment. Just stick with the school and even have a little mini neighborhood. For example, Yandere-chan can go to certain people's houses like PiPi (I believe that was her name) or someone she befriended at the school, male or female. Pathways to the houses they live in and to her home. But don't make a huge complexity of neighborhoods and towns. Just a mini area she is able to go. Maybe even a shop that sells food and other supplies to gain more popularity it you have something another character wants. Simple stuff like that. Well, it's not simple, but I hope you understand what I'm throwing down.

  • Anon - 9 years ago

I don't think open world is the right choice (too much work on your end) but having other locations careful designed locations in addition to the school, such as a park or a museum or a mall that you and other characters could fast travel between would be interesting. Leaving one area would just bring up a map where you would select what locations to go to, and then it would teleport you after a timeskip/time of day change to account for the distance.

For instance, you could overhear gossip about how another student plans to go to the park after school, and intercept them there, stuff like that.

  • Ignacio - 9 years ago

I think making a town it's too much and it's not going to add significant improvement to the game. But you should definitely improve Yandere's house, not just her room and the basement, and having someone tied in the basement should be of some use (torture for secrets!!!). Adding Sempai's house would add a new level of stalking, with the possibility of making an infiltration to steal stuff!
But I think the greatest part of the game is plotting, you should focus on that. And it would be really fun if the player had to deal with Yandere's sanity, happiness, or some thing like that, which forced them to do something to calm her or end up entering in berserker mode and being caught, or killing herself. It would add some challenge!

  • Thomas Nuñez - 9 years ago

some maybe dissapoint with my idea but i think that if you can choose two paths would be very interesting like you can be a "rigth" yandere girl meaning that you work and study a lot and got really good reputation so you never get worried when you kill someone but need to get worried about your reputation or be a "bad" yandere girl meaning that yo do rob things or cheat on exams or things like that but if you do murder someone you have to pay attention and be very worried about not get caugth and thats gonna be difficult to make. what i mean with this is that you have a two-sided gameplay so you can make things write or wrong and change the entire game from the beginning so the fun will still for more cause if you want to replay the game you still have choises or things that you want to do. i agree to make yandere-chan an open-world game but not too big just add a neighbourhood where you can find a job, kill people outside the school (getting on a bigger trouble if you do) and could relationate with other students (friends and enemies that you made) i think that this is a lot to add but will make the game much funnier and interesting. sorry for my english i'm from Argentina so i speak spanish and thanks for reading

  • Snow - 9 years ago

Me personal. I would get bored being at one place ALL the time. As well give Yandere-chan a way to stock her prey and learn information. Say her prey has a job at restaurant. Handers could sneck in to the boss's office and learn cell phone number and medial history. Yandere should get a job so she could buy things to help her kill.

  • Hanzai (Sammy Soda) - 9 years ago

My fear with the expanded and open world is that it will take the idea of social and physical assasination and turn it into something different from too high ambitions that bend the idea of the game like what happens in triple AAA games. But of course, we need more environments to make the game more interesting, so we can't stay there.
I think instead of creating and populating a small scale rendition of a small town, we take areas all around town and give the town a nice look without having to worry about populating the world with NPCs and dialogue options entirely. So you can make areas for the park, the train station, student's apartments, et cetera. This would give the devs the ability to make multiple environments and also make interesting dialogue and social options... and yes, unique abilities to murder somebody's ass. If a small team is outstripped by the project (which an open world would do), they will make boring and repetitve NPCs to just get it over with. If we do go with the compromise, which would be the best, we get a better game with more interesting mechanics, and possibly earlier than if with a full open world.

  • Ani21 - 9 years ago

I like the idea of it being open world. It could add a lot more fun to things like stalking rivals after school or on weekends, or even breaking into their rooms to dig up dirt on them.

  • TJ - 9 years ago

I agree with a few of the comments saying that maybe adding houses that you can be invited to by girls, or potentially invade/stalk these houses. But in doing this you should also make sort of a friendship mechanic. Being able to befriend girls (and maybe even guys, or even seducing guys) around the school to an extent that they treat you differently, they treat you as being...closer to them, in whichever way. Also maybe giving the students and maybe teachers around the school some independent intelligence, allowing them to sort of act on their own. Perhaps so that they seek you out and try to actually talk to you, maybe people will be interested in you, maybe a teacher wants to discuss something with you, maybe a boy wants to confess to you/invite you over, maybe a girl wants to invite you over, etc. I know this is a lot to ask for but it's just my thoughts, there are a lot of things you could add to make the game seem...almost more realistic in a way, like you're actually playing a school RPG in the sense that you can develop relationships (as in friendships and such) with people, and then use these relationships to perhaps make life as a yandere a little more interesting. And of course aspects that involve your relationships with different students as well as your reputation. And then maybe even senpai can notice you (in a good way of course) and perhaps allow a win condition to stem from popularity. Hell, even then maybe the game can continue and your mission is to keep senpai to yourself and don't let other girls around him, like yandere-chan starts to lose her sanity if she catches senpai talking to other girls when you're together.

Sorry for the rambling, there's just so many possibilities and as I mention one another comes to mind.

  • Moritz-sai - 9 years ago

I like the idia of the world being open world, but since there are many People who would prefere to leave the village out of the game, why don't you make the town part of an addon?

  • Pommekiwi - 9 years ago

I think you should do something with victim's houses :-) they invite you and you can eliminate them at home, and you can spy senpai ! But don't touch him, he's mine ok

  • Jack Yang - 9 years ago

I think high school will explain the whole thing, but if I can harm citizens or finds some dangerous weapons(like golf clubs),and it would be great.

  • Foofie - 9 years ago

I think it should be somewhat open world, not a very large one just maybe part of a town, residential area, shopping mall. I don't mind waiting longer for it ~ It gives more options on ways to murder other students and hiding the body (eg: river etc) I haven't played what you have so far but how about keeping students prisoner in Yandere's Basement? xD

But non-the-less I believe you can do it :3 I know how it feels making video games xD I'm working on one at the moment with my partner, Good Luck!!!

  • tamarareynolds123 - 9 years ago

I think yandere simulator should defiantly become an open world game, It wouldn't bother me if you were to push the release date because even though its fun to mess around and sabotage students in school, I think your right it would become a little repetitive and a bit boring. Whereas if you were allowed to follow students home you could ensure that they don't try to go over senpai's house and hit on him or anything like that and if they did you would be able to kill them. I also think it would be cool if you were able to stock senpai in his home! I've Got a lot of great ideas and if you need any help you just ask and I'm sure a lot of the fans that are already starting to form around this game feel the same way! :P

  • lynnnnnnnnnnnn - 9 years ago

Open world or more environments are definitely what a better game need. But it might be risky as well if you just push the time line over beyond too much:(

  • Oka - 9 years ago

I don't know if this has already been suggested, but you could do loading screens in between different areas. Eg. when leaving school, the gate could be the point of a loading screen for a small town.

  • Himitsu - 9 years ago

Personally, I don't think it really needs an open world.

If you wanted to add... maybe, an extra section of road to visit, with a shop or something, a restaurant.... but I honestly can't think of a good reason to put something like that in, unless it's for... like... getting Extra costumes, or... getting things like tape and rope.... a part-time job, or something? Maybe? I dunno. It doesn't seem pertinent, and I think it could also distract from the core gameplay if there's too much going on.

I'm pretty OK with keeping it between Yandere-chan's house/basement and school. Maybe just changing up the school a little bit would work? I sort of like that idea you suggested of having the school be on a bit of a hill... could make things interesting. Adding more types of rooms, maybe? Like a.... Theatre with trapdoors or something on the stage.... or.... or maybe, like a Music room. Greenhouse, or a bell/clock tower? Library? A pool? Just some thoughts, or something maybe.

Or maybe adding more to Yandere-chan's house, like a Kitchen or something. Kitchen to make, like, food and things... Bentos to knock out Senpai after reaching a certain rep and gaining a set of skills or a thing like that, or to make food to bring down to any captives in the basement, and sort of... torture them a little with it? Or reward when they're good, if you can find out their favorite food? A sitting/living room, too, maybe, but, I can't really think of any function it could have. Maybe watching TV with news to find out if what crimes she committed the day before get mentioned? Or adding a weather mechanic? Easier to ask a student to come out on the roof on a sunny day as opposed to a rainy day. Or how about adding a desk with her own home computer? Interacting with like.... a forum with a message board for the school, to start and spread rumors from home? Upload compromising pictures to damage another person's rep? Order things from an online shop, like gifts, special panties, or weapons, or... something? Maybe also add the ability to customize your yandere's house, too...?

Sorry, I tend to babble. In short, my opinion is probably just keep it to the school and the house, but adding more to those two places could probably help much more than adding a whole town.

  • Maud - 9 years ago

I thought yandere sim would be an awesome stealth game. An open world doesn’t seem interesting to me in that perspective, it just does not suit the style of the game. But, a small environment could be interesting if there an use to it. I imagine that yandere sim can have the road to her house. On the road there could be some shops, homes of the rivals, sempai home. Also, I would recommend to do a complete game out of the school environment first and make the environment after. That way you'll have a complete game if any problems happens.

  • Fealow - 9 years ago

I think it'd be wise to take a look at how Persona 4 deals with its town. It has quite a few environments that are connected via loading screen and can be fast traveled to from any location or simply walked to by entrances and exits of other areas. There certainly needs to be more than just the school, but open world would be too much for you to deal with and i feel like it'd end up feeling empty and devoid of as much life as it would need.

Man, am I overly excited for this game! When I saw your latest 2 videos up on YouTube, I freaked out! The fan trailer was great, and I just started fangirling like crazy. I am a big fan of you and your work. You are truly amazing. I hope you consider making a small town or anything, I would care. You are awesome. To me, the later release date wouldn't effect me. But I can't wait to see the final outcome, Thanks!

Well i love the idea of having a town andyou could chop body parts and put in other student backpack so incriminate them, oh and also have gloves to dont have digitals on weapons, when you go to a student's house place the weapon in they're hands while they are asleep so they're digitals go there instead oof yours, as i said before having a backpack would be cool

  • Elize Lutos - 9 years ago

I also agree with that person down there. I think Yandere-chan should have a family because kidnapping shouldn't be that easy. We should have a limited of time to keep a student in our basement before our parents get home! Also I wish we can interact with Sempai even just a simple hello would make it more realistic. If you do decide to add a town I say we should be able to sneak in student's homes and steal or learn stuff about them, especially senpai. eue huehuehue.. I love this game so much. xD

  • Elize Lutos - 9 years ago

I also agree with that other person. I think Yandere-chan should have a family because kidnapping should not be that easy. • LCW - 9 years ago

I didn't read all the comments, so I don't know if it's been suggested already, but another use for the student's houses could be as a place to plant evidence connecting someone else to your crimes.

i.e. killing your rival and planting the murder weapon at the home of someone that suspects you, framing them for the murder and getting them arrested.
You could also plant things that damage reputation and arrange a sleep over with a group so that it can be "found" etc. (or by parents so the rival gets removed from school for being "crazy" etc.)
In the same vein you can plant senpai shrines at rivals houses and have them found so senpai thinks that the rival is the yandere and creep him out, ruining her chances.
You could also take pictures of girls bathing/etc. and sell the pics to Info-chan
Tons of things to do at people's houses.

I also think most of the other stuff I did see posted is also good.

I also agree that if you're hesitant about taking on a whole town focus on the school and get a fully functional game first, then expand outward. (and I would prioritize the other students homes first)

  • Elize Lutos - 9 years ago

Yes! This would make the game even more interesting and give us more time for killing. Just showing up for school everyday to kill is not as exciting because when I played it kind of felt like there is something missing. A small town would be great for night time events such as stalking students, finding out secrets, night kills etc. So a small town would be such a good idea!

  • Hannah - 9 years ago

I think there should be more environments for sure, but that's just my personal interest in the game. When I think of Yandere, I think of a girl who's probably a social outcast and therefore wouldn't go into a small town often, if at all, y'know? Maybe add more environments, but realistically and in-character of the nature of the game.

  • upyours192 - 9 years ago

No, I don't think you should make it open world. I think it should be just in the school but the school should be then polished. With an open world environment, there's risk of it losing that polish and creativity that a smaller world can offer.

"A game that lets you do everything focuses on nothing."

  • Jenn - 9 years ago

If you did an open world you could easily make the weapons go in a specific shop or communal area rather than being at the entrance at the school. Let's face I've never seen a kantana anywhere around my school, that is if you're even planning on keeping it in the game)

  • bobbymorgan1414 - 9 years ago

An open world would be fun but the budget thing may be troublesome. You could if you haven't already, start a patreon account for the game. I'm sure many people would support you for the game. I really enjoy the game so far.

  • Helin - 9 years ago

Yandere Simulator is already a perfect game but i think a little street only is enough. Cuz u know its pretty awesome if u could stalk senpai and other students out of school. And i think yandere should have a familie. When Yandere kidnapped somone she should have a limited time cuz the mother or something would see it and call the cops or something like that. And maybe a mall so yandere - chan could get more trust from girls and know more secrets.... Dark secrets. Plus it would be super super perfect if we could break in senpai his house and take pictures or Steal something. Of course he is gonna notice it. And when she breaks in she have to be really really carefull senpai doesnt wake up. Okey now i have a question does senpai have a real name?? Or not yet? And maybe we could go home and chose a sort of dream about : killing some girl, dreaming about senpai, making plans to make senpai notice u.... And more stuff. And maybe we could have a writing table so we can write letters to senpai and our virals. And i have so much more to say but i dont think this really interesting. Btw im from Belgium and i love ur game. So it is getting really really famous ^^. Just saying. So that was it bye. And ps. I love ur voice its so creepy and relaxing at the same time. Okay now really bye
