Was the article about body image holding Serena's opponent's back...

    Two things on Serena:

    1) in general, people don't understand the definitions of basic words. I can look at those other European tennis players and recognize that they're not necessarily my type without calling them ugly. Beauty comes in different forms. But when it comes to Serena, there seems to be one standard of beauty. "Ugly" in the dictionary is defined as "very unattractive or unpleasant to look at; offensive to the sense of beauty; displeasing in appearance." There wasn't shit about that catsuit that was displeasing in appearance.

    2) Speaking of appearance, racism is funny sometimes. It used to be a standard put-down for the media to say flashy black athletes like the Fab 5 or Deion Sanders would rather look good than win. Now its the opposite for Serena and her opponents. Imagine a world where, say, Allen Iverson was told gaining 10 pounds of muscle would help him win a championship, but he would rather stay small so his extra large white tees would hang off his frame just right. The media would be burning CVS buildings across America.

It's definitely sexist on its face. The racism of the article comes from the standpoint that author presupposes that Serena's body is ugly and undesirable. That her muscles and thickness are not only unattractive but unfeminine compared to the skinny less muscular women, like Sharapova. That to me is racist, because I, like a lot of black people, am enamored by Serena's body and believe that her body is the standard of beauty on the tennis court. But the author, in his privilege, doesn't even consider an opinion like mine to even be an option.

It's genuinely very complicated in this full of activity life to listen news on Television, thus I just use web for that
reason, and get the most recent information.
