For general weather, I use Weather Underground, which seem to be pretty good. I run in the Cascades in WA State, and if it looks like a snow storm is coming in during the winter, I'll to the great WA DOT site which tells me what is going on @ the various major passes.

you get alerts, can check other states, cities, etc. Also has a radar map
